Naruto's Twin sister Hina

Chapter 32: Chess Vs Shogi

[AUTHOR: Guys this chapter will NOT be like chess is a better game or shogi is a better game. This Chapter will be telling the greatness of both the games which was played from ancient times. Thank you so much for your support.]

"Chess?".

Both Shikamaru and Asuma Sensei having the same confused reaction. 'What is that?".

Hina, "Yeah it is a board game similar to that of Shogi".

With that, I opened the chess boards and placed the pieces on the board in the respective start-up positions.

Both Asuma Sensei and Shikamaru are watching my actions with bright eyes.

Hina, "As you can see this is how chess looks like before the start of the game".

Shikamaru, "It is more or less looks like shogi then what is the difference between the shogi and chess?".

Shikamaru was pointing out the similarities between chess and shogi.

Hina, "Well there is quite some difference

First it 8 * 8 squares board game while shogi is a 9 * 9 squares board game.

Second, each player has 16 pieces while in shogi each player has 20 pieces called Koma.

Third Shogi has five pieces with no counterpart in chess: the gold and silver generals, the lance, the promoted rook, and the promoted bishop. Chess has one piece with no counterpart in shogi: the queen".

Shikamaru, "What about is a new piece called queen?".

Asuma, "Yeah I'm also curious about it".

Both Asuma Sensei and Shikamaru's gaze was focused on the piece called queen in the chessboard.

I took the piece 'Queen' in my hand and started to explain.

Hina, "Queen is the most powerful piece in chess. It is also the most important piece next to the King. It can go straight line and diagonal. In other words, it is the combination of Bishop (diagonal) and Rook (straight line)".

After pondering for a moment...

Asuma Sensei, "Why queen has to be the most powerful piece other than an elephant (Rook) or general (Knight)?".

Hina, "Asuma Sensei let's say one day you become the 'Hokage' of the leaf village. Who will be the most respected in the village next to you? Of course, it will be your wife Kurenai Sensei. She can also command the shinobi in case of your absence. So she will the second in power".

Asuma Sensei's face got red on mentioning the Kurenai Sensei as his wife. From his look, it seems like he still not confessed yet.

Hina, "Asuma Sensei there is nothing to hide. Everybody in the village knows that you two are in love except for you two guys".

Embarrassed... He is totally embarrassed. In order to save his face

Asuma sensei," Little girls shouldn't talk about relations" with that he made my mouth shut.

While Shikamaru's Gaze was still on the game as he is not interested in the current topic.

Shikamaru, "Since it has fewer squares and fewer pieces compared to Shogi wouldn't it make the game simple?".

Good. It was a very basic and logical question everybody will ask.

Hina, "Yeah logically speaking it should be. Chess is easy and simple to play compared to Shogi. But YOU ARE WRONG.

Don't underestimate it just because it has fewer pieces and fewer squares on the board.

This game called chess helps you improve something that shogi can't.

That is called strategy.

Strategy is a plan of action designed to achieve long-term or overall success.

In shogi, you can improve a thing called tactics.

A tactic is a conceptual action or short series of actions with the aim of achieving a short-term goal.

Strategy - Long-term goal.

Tactics - Short-term goal.

The beauty of Strategy is that the enemy will not know that he losing and when he realizes it will be too late. It will be very helpful in the war. The Commander of the army should be proficient in this.

The beauty of Tactics is that you can trick the opponent for a second. In the next second, you will be at an advantage. It is mostly used in 1 VS 1 or 2 VS 2 fights.

Now Shikamara what will happen if you were to be professional in both the game".

Without waiting for the Shikamaru to answer I replied.

Hina,"You will get to know both the Tactics and strategy. You the most the most genius person the world has ever seen".

A moment of silence. That didn't expect it. The effect of the game is as great as shogi.

This is why I introduced him the chess. If he becomes a professional in playing chess then he will be playing the greater role in the upcoming Great Ninja war.

They both looked at me as if the dog is looking at the bone. They were more eager now to learn more about it.

Hina, "Geez. Fine. I will tell".

With that, I told them the rules and other things about chess. They were also closely following what I was saying.

After some time...

Hina, "You guys have fun by playing chess. I will of to attend the Kakashi's test. If I delay any longer I will be late. So see you guys".

With that, I left for the bell test.

After I successfully finishing the bell test me and Naruto Nii went home and took some rest.

After a long time it was almost evening I went to the Asuma Sensei's house to see what they are doing.

After I went into the house those two were still at the chess game. On seeing me at the entrance

Shikamaru, "There is a problem in this game Hina".

Problem? How there be a problem in this game? I played this game chess in my previous like I was crazy for it. Unfortunately, I can play it only during school. You guys know what I mean. After entering college teachers were like studies only important and not the game. With that I never able to play it again till death.

Hina, "What is the problem?".

Shikamaru, "Well Asuma sensei only has the king. All the squares surrounding the King are captured by me. So the only piece King can't move. But now is Asuma Sensei's turn".

Hina,"Oh that, It is easy. The game will be a draw. So both the players neither win nor lose".

............................

FUN FACT: 1] It is about my own life story about the part of playing chess in school days. But the Teachers forced me to study and not to play chess so I stopped playing it.

2] In real life also chess improves strategy skills more compared to shogi and shogi improve tactics skill more compared to chess.
