Chapter 20 - Complaints

Chapter 20: Complaints

The next day, the silence was broken.

Ruofeng smiled bitterly. “I did not sleep well all night. It seems last night’s news still unsettles me.”

He glanced toward the corner of the wall. Though ordinary, it concealed something extraordinary.

“Hoo… I do not want to think about it. I will check again tonight. For now, I should head to school. I wonder if Jiu Yukino is waiting for me.” Exhaling a deep breath, Ruofeng smiled.

Yesterday, he had accompanied Jiu Kōnai. It was her first time making a friend in Kiba Village, and not just any friend.

As he stepped out of his bedroom, a waiting-maid bowed slightly. “Master has already gone out to manage the business. Will the young master head to the ninja school now?”

Ruofeng nodded. “I will go now. No need to follow me.”

With those words, he washed up quickly, ate a few mouthfuls of rice, and, looking fatigued, made his way toward the ninja school.

Upon arriving, a familiar voice greeted him before he could even take in the sight of the school. “Ruofeng… You are early today, but you look exhausted.”

Ruofeng turned to see Jomonoki, an upperclassman from the ninja school. Ruofeng, a first-year, regarded Jomonoki as his senior since the latter was already in his third year.

Ruofeng sighed. “I could not sleep yesterday. Have you seen Tsunade-san?”

Jomonoki shook his head. “I saw her last night. She looked happy. She left early this morning for a mission. That is how upper ninjas are. My sister is a medical ninja, not just any upper ninja.”

Hearing this, Ruofeng’s expression darkened. “Yes… Becoming an upper ninja as a medical ninja is rare in Kiba. But Tsunade-san is strong. Her character, however, is another matter entirely.”

His tone carried resentment. Ruofeng still thought about his Kirin Exhaustion—a precious item Tsunade had taken.

Jomonoki raised an eyebrow. “No way! My sister told me to take care of you at school and even teach you some of the Senju Zan’s unique jutsu. I thought she valued you, but it seems she must have done something.”

Jomonoki knew his sister well. After all, they were blood siblings.

Ruofeng clenched his fists, his face reddening with anger. “Stealing from me! Do you think some jutsu can make up for it? She took my things! Even if she repays me for a lifetime, it will never be enough!”

Jomonoki gulped. “That… That… It seems my eldest sister has taken something unimaginable.”

Ruofeng shook his head and walked toward the school. “A three-thousand-year-old herb, filled with powerful medicinal energy. If an ordinary person took it, even the worst injuries would heal. If Tsunade took it, the effect would be extreme. The medicinal power would stimulate her Senju bloodline, flooding her cells with life and her chakra with vitality. At this point, she is practically immortal. Such a rare herb… and she stole two of my three! It seems her inheritance from the First Hokage is not just about eating, drinking, and gambling. She has even learned to cheat!”

Jomonoki forced an awkward smile. “That… I apologize… When my sister returns, I will have her apologize. But you know my sister well.”

Ruofeng scoffed. “Apologize? That is unlikely. Well… I suppose I am just unlucky. I know Tsunade too well. Not only did I witness her aura, but I also understood what was happening inside her body.”

Jomonoki froze. “What…?!”

Ruofeng ignored Jomonoki’s shock as a cheerful voice called from the distance.

“Ruofeng! I am here!”

Ruofeng turned to see Jiu Yukino running toward him, her face full of joy.

Jomonoki, still stunned, muttered, “Unbelievable… First, it is Tsunade, and now her. This guy is too much.”

Unbeknownst to Ruofeng, the scene had also played out inside the Hokage’s office.

The Third Hokage sighed. “Er… What should I say?”

Tsunade slammed her fist on the table. “That little bastard! What is all this about witnessing my aura, understanding my body, eating, drinking, gambling, being a worse version of the First Hokage?! Just because I took two herbs! Does he have to make it sound so dramatic?”

Jiraiya, still processing Ruofeng’s words, murmured, “Witnessing her aura… understanding her body… so lucky…”

Orochimaru, expressionless as always, shifted the subject. “That red-haired girl… Is she the future jinchūriki?”

The Third Hokage nodded. “Indeed. One of those two children from the Uzumaki Zan will become the next jinchūriki. We are still uncertain who. Today’s mission involves them both.”

Hearing this, Tsunade gradually calmed down. She understood the gravity of the situation. After all, her grandmother, Uzumaki Mito, had been the previous Nine-Tails jinchūriki.

“This mission is not only about the jinchūriki but also concerns the Uzumaki Zan,” the Third Hokage continued.

Meanwhile, Ruofeng entered the ninja school, lost in thought.

“The surveillance disappeared… That strange spiritual power must have come from the Hokage’s crystal ball.”

When he had touched Rope Tree earlier, something had felt off. A disturbance in the spiritual energy signaled someone watching him. Trusting his instincts—a trait he had inherited—he remained cautious.

The feeling vanished once Jiu Yukino arrived.

“What is wrong? Did you not sleep well because you were excited?” Jiu Yukino asked.

Ruofeng chuckled. “Something like that. But it does not matter now. Let us see what the day brings. I am eager to meet my new classmates. I wonder if there are any interesting people among them.”

Just then, his gaze landed on Yamaki approaching.
