Naruto: Wooing Tsunade from Day One!

Chapter 209: Chapter 209: Personnel Appointment

"The Assistant to the Hokage is your mission. In the future, you can just help me with the paperwork," Tsunade said, her tone slightly awkward.

"This is also contributing to the village, which is very important," she added, her cheeks flushing a little. While she had a big-hearted nature, this was her first time tricking someone in such a way.

"No, I can't do it," Shōta protested. He had seen the stacks of papers on the Hokage's desk before and was already growing anxious. The sheer volume of work looked enough to crush anyone.

"How can a man say he can't do it?" Kawakaze interjected firmly. "It's settled. Come to work early tomorrow."

Before Shōta could utter another word of protest, Kawakaze grabbed Tsunade and dragged her away. Left staring at the now-empty seats, Shōta felt utterly defeated.

What kind of people are these? If they had been upfront and said something like "be the Hokage's assistant and help with paperwork," I wouldn't have agreed even if they threatened to kill me!

Shōta's expression fell, his mood sinking like a ship in a storm. This was the most elaborate setup he had ever encountered.

"Haha, I've found someone for you. Don't drag me into handling paperwork in the future," Kawakaze declared gleefully as he and Tsunade arrived back at the Senju mansion.

"You're so mean!" Tsunade exclaimed, glaring at him before sitting down on her bed.

"Never mind being mean, this is a brilliant solution, isn't it? It didn't take more than five minutes from start to finish," Kawakaze said proudly, clearly unbothered.

"Pfft~" Tsunade couldn't help but burst out laughing, remembering Shōta's stunned expression. It was truly his misfortune to have crossed paths with Kawakaze.

"Okay, stop laughing," Kawakaze said, sitting down next to her. "There's still a lot to do."

The two began discussing upcoming plans. Tsunade's shadow guards needed to be re-selected, and the Anbu required a purge. Most importantly, the Konoha Military Police Force would be handed over to Sarutobi and the Mitokado clans, allowing the Uchiha Clan to finally rise to a position of true power in the village.

The two discussed various matters until they stepped outside and realized it was already dark.

"Let's eat at my place," Tsunade said, taking Kawakaze's hand and leading the way to the dining room.

"Okay," Kawakaze replied, quickly matching her pace so they walked side by side.

"I was just about to ask Nawaki to go get you," Mito said, having noticed the two at home earlier but choosing not to disturb them.

"Here you are."

Tsunade sat down near Mito, and Kawakaze called her "Grandma" respectfully before taking his seat.

"Sister, you had such an impressive aura today," Nawaki remarked, already munching away after Mito had begun eating.

"I didn't have an aura before?" Tsunade shot back, her retort making Nawaki feel like his comment had completely backfired.

"Elder Sister Tsunade has always had aura," Misaki chimed in, jumping to Nawaki's defense.

"Yes, Misaki is right," Nawaki quickly agreed, realizing that flattery was safer than being honest. He resolved to stick to it in the future.

"Flatterer," Kushina muttered, shooting Nawaki a disdainful look. The two of them never seemed to get along.

"All right, let's eat and stop the chatter," Mito said with mild annoyance, prompting the two to fall silent immediately.

After the meal, Kawakaze said his goodbyes and left, knowing there was important work to be done the next day.

Early the next morning, Shōta Nara reported to the Hokage's office. When he saw Kawakaze, a trace of reluctance remained in his eyes.

"It's not a big deal, and it's also good experience for you," Kawakaze said nonchalantly, patting Shōta on the shoulder.

"Thank you, Lord Kawakaze, for your kindness," Shōta replied through gritted teeth as he glanced at the mountain of paperwork on Tsunade's desk, which nearly obscured her head.

"You're welcome. Get familiar with them first. There's an important meeting later," Kawakaze added, pretending not to notice Shōta's frustration, and strolled over to sit on the sofa.

Meanwhile, Koharu Utatane went to notify the meeting attendees.

"Yes," Shōta Nara replied, moving to Tsunade's side to observe how she handled the documents.

"Shōta, you can just deal with these things on your own; there's no need to ask me," Tsunade said.

"In that case, just show me when you're done."

"Just leave it to me." Tsunade quickly sorted the documents into three categories, significantly reducing her workload.

As he watched her work, Shōta's resentment toward Kawakaze intensified.

"Can I hire someone else?" he asked, glancing at the daunting stack of papers. After all, Konoha was just a village; there couldn't be that many truly important issues.

"Yes, that's fine," Tsunade replied casually. "You can hire not just one but three people if needed."

"Okay," Shōta sighed. At this point, he could only grit his teeth and endure.

About half an hour later, Koharu Utatane arrived to notify them that a meeting had been called.

Tsunade immediately set her pen down. "Shōta, you've seen enough. Try to handle it for now. I'll be back after the meeting."

With that, she and Kawakaze left the office, leaving Shōta staring at the stack of documents.

When the three arrived at the meeting room, all of Konoha's key decision-makers were already present. Today, Tsunade intended to rearrange personnel and consolidate her control over the village.

She took the seat of honor, and the meeting officially began.

"Today, we will be discussing personnel matters," Tsunade announced, getting straight to the point. "We also need to hear everyone's opinions."

Everyone in the room immediately understood the purpose of the meeting. It was only natural for a new leader to promote their own people.

"The previous Anbu Chief has left, and I have decided to let Sakumo Hatake take his place," Tsunade announced. "Does anyone have any objections?"

She glanced around the room as murmured discussions broke out among the attendees. After a brief moment, the majority voted in favor, and the position of Anbu Chief was officially assigned to Sakumo Hatake.

"The administration department originally had two counselors, but for the time being, I'm afraid the workload will fall heavily on Counselor Koharu," Tsunade said, looking at Koharu Utatane.

No one raised any objections.

"I will do my best," Koharu replied, already a staunch supporter of Tsunade.

"The police force will be handed over to the Sarutobi and Mitokado Clans," Tsunade continued. "Does anyone have any objections?"

The room grew noisy at the mention of this sensitive issue.

"Stop arguing! Speak up if you have a problem," Tsunade said firmly, patting the table. The room quieted down.

"What about the Uchiha?" one of the elders finally asked, voicing the question on everyone's mind.

"The Uchiha are skilled in Genjutsu, so they will be placed in charge of the interrogation department," Tsunade explained. This decision had been carefully planned after discussions with Kawakaze, as it was seen as a better fit than the police force.

"No, the Uchiha are too ambitious and unfit for such an important task," someone immediately objected.

"Why are the Uchiha too ambitious?" Tsunade countered. "Their Clan Head died in the Second Shinobi World War, and Fugaku Uchiha made significant contributions. Is all of that fake?"

Her question silenced the objector, who couldn't provide a response.

"Okay, let's vote by show of hands," Tsunade declared.

Kawakaze had already prepared for this outcome and watched as those he had spoken to beforehand voted. As expected, the Uchiha were appointed to the role by a narrow margin.

Next, Orochimaru was appointed as the Head of the Medical Corps.

To Kawakaze's surprise, Tsunade also assigned him the position of Head of Training and Education, effectively making Kawakaze the principal of the Ninja Academy. Though unexpected, he found the idea somewhat intriguing after giving it some thought.

With that, the meeting concluded. Tsunade had successfully taken control of Konoha's six major departments. In both reputation and power, she was now undeniably the Hokage.
