Chapter 2: Chapter 2 – I Am Rock Lee
Caught in the next life fever dream and the reality that I had died, I failed to count one thing that really mattered. That was the fact I would be a baby again.
I would be in an infant's body, which meant I would need to pee, poop, and cry many times per day. The worst thing was, the memory of my past life was still intact, so the agony was twice as strong. Being seen crying while soiling my diaper was an embarrassment.
Also, I didn't expect those anime theory conspiracy theorists to be right about something. I, being Rock Lee, was an orphan in Konoha. I found out the fact in my 3rd month here, when I was taken outside the orphanage. At that moment, the bonus I received showed up.
A strange holographic screen, which only I could see, popped out and floated in front of me.
[Weapon Mastery Achievement: Use chakra for the first time. Reward: 1x Random Weapon Spin.]
The first achievement that I could gain in this life. To use chakra, I would have to find my own way. After all, I had no way to know how to use it just by relying on anime knowledge. What would I be called if I was able to? A genius?
Unfortunately, being a genius wasn't one of my good points. Just as the person with a big head had said...
I am just a maniac.
Well, at least, the method I knew wasn't hard. I only had to grow up and learn how to feel the flow of chakra in my body.
It didn't take me long. In fact, it only took a whole month.
During the period, the caretaker had always looked at me with an odd expression. It was likely because they didn't expect a child as young as me to stay silent. I rarely cried, only made noises when needed, and even when the children were playing, I preferred to meditate.
That being said, my caretaker was a good person. He would always smile at me and give me food.
Now, the time has come.
Before I entered the Academy, I wanted to have at least 1 weapon. Uchiha massacre would happen anytime soon, probably in 6 to 7 years, but I wouldn't be able to do anything about that.
I need to lay low to keep myself from being discovered by Danzo before I have the strength to protect myself.
Having that old man as my enemy this early was a bad idea. That being said, I had to train as hard as possible. Apprenticing myself under Guy to learn Eight Gates would be in my to-do list too.
Even if I had a weapon, if my body and Taijutsu were weak, that would be a huge problem. With that in mind, I sat cross-legged and began to circulate chakra inside my body. It was an easy process. Once I understood the basics, everything went smoothly.
It was a shame, though. The first time, the flow was messy and unstable, but that was because of how weak the flow of chakra inside me. And I somehow couldn't bring them out like what Kakashi and the others did in the show.
So this is why Lee is unable to use Ninjutsu or Genjutsu. There is something wrong with my Chakra Pathways.
I could feel them. It was like there was something blocking my Chakra Pathways, or that the flow of Chakra in them was very weak. Still, it wasn't like I could do anything about that now, so I tried to focus on my current objective.
The achievement was to use Chakra. No matter what it was used for, Ninjutsu or Taijutsu, either way was fine. From what I read in wiki and conspiracy theories, Chakra could be used for general performance enhancement. That was my goal before I hit 7 years old.
For now, let's be happy with my current progress.
Grumble~
Ah, I was hungry. Time to cry.
"Uwaaaa~!"

"Uu-uu-uu..."
The world was cold and cruel. That was the conclusion that I made a few days after my third birthday. I got nothing for the hard work that I put into learning how to control my chakra. Not even the ability to perform simple Taijutsu.
My body is too weak. Was the conclusion that I reached after a series of failures. Hence, I was running around the orphanage, pushing myself again. It felt great, sweat coming out from every pore of my body.
"Lee-kun! Lunch is ready!"
A caretaker's voice rang out in the yard. It was time for lunch. My stomach rumbled in response. I guess running around was enough for now.
"Yes!"
I rushed inside, heading straight for the bathroom. After washing up, I arrived at the dining hall, where everyone was eating. The meal was simple rice and some side dishes. The rice tasted a little bland.
It's fine, I guess.
It's not like I had a lot of options here. The orphanage didn't have enough money to buy meat, let alone seasoning. The only reason they were able to buy side dishes was because someone, who I guessed was the Hokage, donated monthly.
Unlike what most people believed, but was actually a reality, Konoha was a good village to live in and Hiruzen actually did his job. Not the other job where he had to take care of Naruto, but at least the orphanage where the Kyuubi rampage's victim resided never needed to find scraps to survive.
Anyway, my day was spent training my body and trying to use chakra by relying on my knowledge. The adults seemed to have no plan teaching us anything. Maybe because they weren't a Ninja, that was why.
After lunch, the caretaker called all the children. It was time for a lesson.
"Alright, let's start the lesson."
He started his lecture, explaining the history of the village and the will of fire. I half-ignored him, continuing to train the flow of my chakra. It was a boring lecture. I had already heard the stories from the anime and knew more than the caretaker.
"Listen, kids. Konoha is a place filled with the will of fire. If you want to protect the village, you will have to enter the academy. You can start from here by doing the mission."
A mission? For kids like us?
"It's not much, but these missions will give you the chance to prove yourself. The mission will also provide you with pocket money, and you can use it for something you want."
"YEAH!"
Everyone cheered, except me. I could only smile wryly. Now I understood what kind of mission it was and lost my interest, though the caretaker said I should also participate.
"Here is the form."
The caretaker distributed the forms among us. A grocery list was written on it. The kids had to get them and return.
Based on what I heard, the groceries had all been paid, so we just had to hand the list to the store owner and he would give us the items.
I accepted the paper and stood up, ready to go with 3 other kids older than me. We headed to the closest shop, a grocery store, and returned.
"Thank you for shopping!"
The middle-aged store owner handed us a plastic bag. There was a large variety of products, and a lot of them were instant meals, so the price was very reasonable for even us.
Yes, instant meal and instant ramen were available here, in a land where no one ever thought they existed. The taste was good, and it was affordable. I had grown quite fond of the food, not that it was good for my health.
When I arrived back at the orphanage, the caretaker collected the goods and gave us an allowance. I got some money and decided to save it for the future. Training would require a lot of stamina, and for that, I needed protein.
"Now, go and play. Remember not to leave the village, okay?"
"Yes!"
We replied cheerfully before spreading out. Most went to the playground while I went back to the training field, continuing my workout. Everything was about drive and perseverance!
