Naruto: Unlocking Kaido Template

Chapter 51: Chapter 51

"What a hassle… Are we really this unlucky?" Uzumaki Zixu sighed as he signaled for Hyuga Chinano and Aburame Hatsuizumi to step back. The group before them, known as the "Calabash Brothers," were not easy opponents.

"He's really changed..." Zixu thought to himself. In the beginning, he had been a quiet and reserved individual, avoiding unnecessary attention. But over time, through his experiences with Chinano and Hatsuizumi, his mindset had shifted. He stopped pretending and started accepting them as true friends.

People like Gouda Takeshi, Tenzo, Guy Sensei, Rock Lee, and even those damn snakes… all of them had made him more responsible. His perspective on Konoha had evolved, though he still believed that Sarutobi Hiruzen's way of ruling was flawed—neither objective nor strategic enough.

As Gaara, the boy carrying the massive sand gourd, locked eyes with Zixu, an intense hatred flared beneath the dark rings around his eyes. It was a look filled with unrelenting bloodlust.

"Gaara..." Temari, the blonde kunoichi carrying a large fan, called out with concern. As his older sister, she understood Gaara's pain better than anyone. He had been raised as a weapon rather than a person, deprived of love and humanity. Even their father had never viewed Gaara as a son, only as a tool of war.

This cruel upbringing had twisted Gaara's personality. If the world saw him as a weapon, then he might as well embrace that role. Killing had become second nature to him.

"Hey, kid. I'd suggest you back off now," Kankuro, the face-painted ninja wielding a bandaged puppet, warned. "I can't promise you'll like what happens next."

It wasn't that Kankuro wanted to help them—he just knew Gaara was impossible to stop when he got like this.

Zixu smirked as he saw Gaara lunge at him. He had an idea why Gaara was so fixated on him. The boy's hatred had flared the moment he laid eyes on him. Zixu, however, had no intention of backing down. He wasn't here to kill Gaara, but he wouldn't mind teaching him a painful lesson.

As soon as Gaara's gourd opened, a surge of yellowish-gray sand erupted outward. It formed a massive sand hand, growing larger as the gourd continuously supplied more material. The colossal sand limb launched toward Zixu, intending to crush him on the spot.

"This is kinda like Old Sand's Devil Fruit ability…" Zixu mused, comparing Gaara's technique to a power from another world. "But it's missing the 'desiccation' and 'desertification' properties. Right now, he's just relying on raw weight and density."

With that in mind, Zixu reached into his pouch and pulled out an old yet reliable weapon—a crowbar. He hadn't used it openly in a while, but the moment it rested in his hands, a strange feeling overtook him. It wasn't just a weapon. Holding it gave him a sense of defying fate itself.

"Can your so-called 'absolute defense' withstand my strike?" Zixu grinned, his battle spirit igniting.

Gaara's instincts screamed at him. Something about that crowbar—something about Zixu—was dangerous. Yet, he dismissed the warning.

"Impossible. My sand reacts automatically to danger. Nothing can break through!"

Despite his confidence, Gaara instinctively reinforced his defenses. Layers of sand wrapped around him like a cocoon, adding extra protection. He wasn't taking any chances.

Meanwhile, Hyuga Chinano and Aburame Hatsuizumi weren't standing idle. Chinano activated her Byakugan and prepared to engage, while Hatsuizumi's swarm of black insects crawled toward Temari's feet, ready to consume her chakra.

Then—

CRACK!

A deafening shatter rang through the air.

Everyone knew it: absolute defenses exist to be broken.

Zixu's crowbar smashed through Gaara's massive sand hand as if it were made of paper. The supposedly unbreakable structure collapsed into a rain of debris, scattering across the battlefield. At its center, Gaara stood frozen, his wide, panicked eyes showing nothing but disbelief.

"I… I didn't even control my strength properly," Zixu muttered, somewhat surprised at how easily Gaara went down. He had only intended to break the sand hand, but Gaara himself had taken the full impact and was now unconscious.

But the danger wasn't over. The scattered sand suddenly gathered around Gaara again, enveloping him in a dense, impenetrable sphere. Unlike before, this defense wasn't his doing—it was something deeper, something far more dangerous.

"The beast inside him is waking up…" Zixu muttered. He wasn't about to let things escalate further.

"This wasn't meant for you, but I guess I'll use it now."

Zixu formed a series of hand seals. Energy surged through his body as he activated the Hachimon Tonkō (Eight Gates Release). The air around him grew heavy, distorting under the sheer force of his unleashed chakra.

Then, in a blur—

SWISH.

Zixu disappeared.

Hyuga Chinano, using her Byakugan, barely caught a glimpse of his movement. He was fast—too fast. All she saw was the moment his crowbar connected with the sand sphere.

And then—

BOOM!

The entire sand structure imploded. Once again, Gaara's ultimate defense crumbled like brittle glass.

Gaara's mind went blank.

"Wait… my absolute defense? My sand reacts automatically… Why didn't it react this time?"

His thoughts were interrupted as Zixu materialized right in front of him.

"Let's put an end to this."

Without hesitation, golden chains shot from Zixu's body—Kongō Fūsa (Adamantine Sealing Chains)—piercing into Gaara's body, suppressing his chakra. The once-violent force within him suddenly stilled.

Gaara gasped as his body went numb, consciousness slowly returning to him. For the first time in years, he felt powerless.

Zixu didn't linger. With a flick of his wrist, he hurled Gaara toward Temari and Kankuro.

"Catch."

Temari barely reacted in time, stumbling backward as she grabbed her unconscious brother. Kankuro looked at Gaara, then at Zixu, his hands trembling.

Zixu turned away, grabbing Chinano and Hatsuizumi before they could argue. "We're leaving."

"But—" Chinano started.

"No buts. We've got what we came for."

Despite their disappointment, both girls understood. The situation had already escalated too much. It was time to go.

As they vanished into the trees, Kankuro and Temari remained frozen in place, their minds struggling to process what had just happened.

Gaara, for the first time in his life, had been utterly and completely defeated.
