Chapter 48: Chapter 48
The Chunin Exam was meant to be a simple test for Genin to advance, but with the participation of multiple nations and hidden villages, it had long since become anything but straightforward.
Konoha, ever the master of indoctrination, held a distinct advantage in this field. Regardless of actual ability, every participant was driven by the same battle cry: "For Konoha!"—a phrase that worked like a shot of adrenaline. Inspired by this so-called noble sense of duty, Konoha's Genin always threw themselves into the exams with reckless abandon.
Of course, the daimyos who funded these events were none the wiser. Seeing the Konoha shinobi fight so fiercely even in an exam, they assumed they must be a force to be reckoned with. More funding! More rewards! If the higher-ups were rewarded, then naturally, military funds would flow into the village.
Before the first phase of the exam even began, a crowd of nervous Genin had already gathered outside the venue. Among them were Hyuga Chinano and Aburame Hatsuizumi, who were still a little uneasy at the sight of so many competitors. But following the carefree attitude of their teammate, Uzumaki Zixu, their nervousness gradually faded.
"Chinano, how's your Eight Trigrams (Hakke) training going?" Zixu asked casually.
"Well… Techniques that align with my chakra nature are stronger, but I still can't use anything beyond the basic elements. Water, fire, and earth are manageable, but Wood Release (Mokuton) is a bloodline limit, so it's impossible for me. As for Gold Release (Kinton)? I've never even heard of it."
Since learning about her chakra affinity, Chinano had trained accordingly. She even attempted to use water-based jutsu in a way that mimicked Ice Release (Hyoton), but with little success. At best, her water techniques could slightly slow down an opponent.
"Don't overthink it," Zixu said. "Just focus on mastering those three elements, especially water. Try applying your chakra to the Eight Trigrams Diagram (Hakke no Zu) and use it as a guide."
"Zixu, Zixu, why does my Insect Breeding Technique (Kikaichu no Jutsu) keep failing?" Hatsuizumi interjected. "I've already transformed them into chakra-based forms, so in theory, it should work..."
"There's no rush," Zixu reassured him. "Every insect user—no, every Aburame—has to refine their control through constant practice. Why not try communicating with your summon first? You've barely used it since signing the contract."
"…Well, it's not that I don't summon Chõcho, but every time I do, he just sits there. He won't listen to me, doesn't move, and just… stares."
Hearing this, Zixu couldn't help but imagine a cicada with a deadpan expression. The thought of a bug with the personality of a silent statue was oddly amusing.
"Forget that for now," Zixu said, noticing the exam doors beginning to open. "We need to focus. Let's head inside."
Neither Chinano nor Hatsuizumi realized it yet, but they were already following Zixu's lead without hesitation. Unintentionally, he had become the clear leader of their three-man squad.
In truth, Zixu was beginning to understand the true nature of his system. It wasn't about fancy mission mechanics or organization-building. Those were just tools. The system's real purpose was to make him as powerful as Kaido, and everything else—missions, squad management, exams—was just a means to that end.
The doors creaked open, and the gathered Genin poured into the exam hall, eager to begin the Chunin Exams.

Inside the Exam Hall
Zixu's sharp eyes immediately locked onto an inconspicuous white-haired young man among the crowd. Wasn't this guy from the dango shop? As he scanned the room, he noticed several familiar faces near him.
There was Uchiha Sasuke and Uzumaki Naruto, along with the Hyuga princess, the Inuzuka brat, the Ino-Shika-Cho trio, and Lee's team. Zixu quickly deduced that the white-haired guy must have some strong backing to be surrounded by so many notable teams.
Near them, a pink-haired girl was visibly trembling. Her pupils shrank in fear, her breath hitching.
"Sakura! What's wrong?" Naruto asked, looking confused. "These guys aren't that scary… This is awesome! So many strong opponents!" He grinned, completely unfazed.
"Listen up! My name is Uzumaki Naruto! I won't lose to any of you!" he shouted boldly, pointing at the gathered ninjas.
The entire room fell silent. Every Genin present stared at Naruto as if he had lost his mind.
Zixu, however, wasn't paying attention to Naruto's antics. What's up with the pink-haired girl? Getting scared over weaklings like these? He shook his head and moved on, taking a seat with his team.
A moment later, the sound of heavy boots filled the room as a man stepped onto the podium. He wore a black Konoha-issued ninja hat, his face marked with deep scars that resembled whiplashes. Over his light gray vest, he wore a long black coat that practically screamed "I'm not someone you mess with."
"Apologies for the wait." His deep voice carried effortlessly through the tense atmosphere. "I am the examiner for the first round of the Chunin Exams, Morino Ibiki."
The tension in the room immediately thickened.
"The first phase of the Chunin Exam begins now."
The entire room fell into complete silence.
"Submit your registration forms, take your assigned number plate, and find your designated seat. We will now begin distributing the exam papers."
Ibiki's expression darkened. "Cheating will not be tolerated. If you're caught, you lose two points. Lose ten points, and you're out. If one teammate scores zero, the whole team is eliminated."
One by one, the exam papers were passed around.
Zixu lazily rubbed his eyes, suppressing a yawn as he glanced at the paper in front of him.
First Question: A coded message was submerged in water, distorting the text. Decode it.
Second Question: Ninja A is standing atop a 7-meter tree and throws a shuriken. The parabola B in the diagram represents its trajectory. Identify the potential shinobi that may appear within the indicated elliptical area and explain your reasoning.
Zixu raised an eyebrow. Are these supposed to be difficult? He quickly jotted down his answers without hesitation.
Meanwhile, around him, other Genin were breaking into cold sweats.
This is supposed to be a Genin-level test?
What the hell, Third Hokage!?
Zixu leaned back in his chair, hands behind his head. "Honestly, won't this test eliminate too many people?" He sighed. If one teammate gets a zero, the whole squad is disqualified.
His gaze flickered across the room. Maybe the correct strategy is cheating.
He smirked. Not that I have to worry about my teammates…
His train of thought was suddenly interrupted by the appearance of a tiny floating eyeball near his desk.
Curious, Zixu grabbed his pen and—without thinking—poked the eyeball.
"Cough! Cough!" A certain puppet user in the room let out an unnatural cough, his expression stiff.
