Before receiving their first mission, Inuzuka Ryo was full of excitement. However, after completing a few, his enthusiasm quickly faded.

After dozens of D-rank missions, he grew numb to them.

Most of the new genin's missions were tedious. Tasks like catching cats, walking dogs, weeding, or delivering goods were common. Occasionally, they would get missions like gathering herbs on cliffs or cleaning river sediments, during which the jonin instructor would use the time to teach chakra control techniques such as tree climbing or water walking.

If someone couldn't master these skills quickly, it implied that their chakra control abilities were subpar. This likely meant they would spend the next ten or twenty years slowly building up their reputation and skills, possibly learning some useful jutsu along the way. By the time they reached their 30s or 40s, they might earn the rank of Jonin, assuming they didn't die in the process.

Haruto, having the combined spiritual strength of two souls along with his Sharingan, had natural talent. His powerful mental energy played a significant role in his easy mastery of tree climbing and water walking.

Aburame Nami, given her ability to control multiple insects at once, had strong mental abilities as well. Even Inuzuka Ryo, naturally gifted, quickly learned these two essential skills.

"Alright, the next mission is to help Aunt Akita on Desheng Street take care of her two-year-old son..." Kato Dan said, holding a mission scroll and reading it aloud.

"What?! I just helped Uncle Jiusan weed his field, and now I have to babysit?" Ryo collapsed to the ground, complaining.

This was nothing like the ninja life he had imagined.

Aburame Nami and Haruto, on the other hand, listened to the mission attentively. The former out of habit, and the latter because he was mentally prepared. After all, this was Konoha's tradition.

"I figured you'd complain about this one, so I took on two more tasks. You can each take one," Kato Dan said with a smirk.

"Uncle Kadota sprained his ankle yesterday and needs help walking his dog. That task is perfect for Ryo. The Nara family shop also needs someone to help gather medicinal herbs in the forest, which is a good fit for Nami's insects. As for Haruto... you'll be taking care of the child!"

"Why do I always get stuck with the most annoying tasks? I have zero experience with kids!" Haruto exclaimed, pressing his hand to his forehead.

Kato Dan looked at Haruto with amusement. Of his three students, Haruto was clearly the most talented.

With Kato Dan's expertise in ninjutsu that focused on the soul, spirit, and perception, he could sense Haruto's immense spiritual power. It was far greater than that of an average person, which, combined with his Sharingan and Uchiha heritage, meant Haruto's potential was limitless.

However, beneath Haruto's powerful mental strength, Kato Dan also detected a deep sense of impatience, uneasiness, and fear—emotions Haruto himself was likely unaware of.

As someone who had been reincarnated and suddenly thrust into the world of *Naruto* without prior warning, it was natural for Haruto to harbor such feelings.

"Given Ryo and Nami's skills, I naturally chose tasks they can finish quickly. That leaves you with the babysitting."

Kato Dan sounded quite sincere.

"Fine, fine..." Haruto could only sigh in defeat.

And so, time passed.

Two months flew by.

Under Kato Dan's leadership, their team completed D-rank missions at more than twice the speed of other teams. Although there was often a division of tasks, Kato Dan sometimes selected missions that required teamwork, such as intelligence-gathering or assignments that exercised their coordination.

Even if the teamwork was merely capturing the daimyo's daughter's runaway cat, or collecting information on the sake market for an izakaya owner, it still honed their skills.

Through these daily missions, Haruto gradually calmed the restless heart he hid beneath his composed exterior, thanks to Kato Dan's special guidance.

Perhaps it was the growing understanding among the team members over the past two months, or maybe it was the thinning number of available shinobi due to the ongoing war. Whatever the reason, just two and a half months after the team's formation, Kato Dan managed to secure a C-rank mission from Koharu, the third Hokage's advisor.

"Is this our target?" Haruto asked, holding a photo of a dark-skinned, tall middle-aged man.

"Four months ago, a secret team from Sunagakure infiltrated the Land of Fire on a sabotage mission. They attacked Iron Stone Town in the west, severely weakening the local defenses. Afterward, miners took advantage of the chaos to stage a riot, attacked a noble's mansion, stole supplies, and retreated into the mountains to become bandits. This man, Ichiro Okamoto, leads the bandits. Our mission is to take care of them and return the stolen goods to the Ishihara family of the Daimyo's court," Kato Dan explained, holding up the mission scroll.
