Chapter 189: Ch.189 Which Side Should I Support?
The giant sandstorm infused with 'Amaterasu' black flames was like a natural disaster. Even Tsunade felt genuinely shaken by the sight of it, let alone ordinary people!
Moments later, as the demons that had stirred up the sandstorm perished in the storm, the deafening sandstorm finally came to a calm.
Tsunade hurriedly led the squad over, only to find the battlefield filled with nothing but black flames, yellow sand, and black ash mixed in with the grains of sand.
"These black flames can only be sealed," she quickly instructed the squad members before crouching down to carefully examine the ashes on the ground.
With a gentle pinch of her hand, the black ash crumbled between her fingertips, vanishing as though it had never existed.
"What on earth were these monsters?!"
Staring at the ashes that had vanished from her fingers, a series of questions flooded her mind.
With her medical ninjutsu expertise, Tsunade could easily tell that the enemies who had attacked them amidst the sandstorm were no ordinary shinobi.
These enemies each seemed to possess an immortal body. Whether it was taijutsu, ninja tools, or ninjutsu, nothing could deal a fatal blow to them. Even tearing apart their bodies had no effect.
Just then, the Hyuga clan's jonin in the squad shouted, "It's Uchiha Sasuke! He... he's brought Naruto back!"
Everyone immediately looked in the direction pointed out by the Hyuga jonin, and sure enough, a bulky figure was walking out from the wind and sand.
As the figure drew closer, they saw that it was indeed Sasuke, with Naruto—the target they were supposed to rescue—on his back.
Tsunade furrowed her brows and approached, asking, "Are you alright?"
Sasuke shook his head and then set the unconscious Naruto down. "Please, check on Naruto!"
Tsunade immediately examined Naruto and soon breathed a sigh of relief. "He's alright, just trapped in a genjutsu, temporarily unconscious."
The other members of the squad gathered around.
Shikaku glanced at Sasuke and asked, "Where did you find Naruto? And what about 'A'?"
Sasuke didn't hide anything and described what he had seen to everyone.
After listening to Sasuke's account, Tsunade appeared confused. "You mean 'A' was also attacked here?"
Sasuke nodded. "It was a swordsman with orange hair, wielding a long blade! His strength was incredible. He managed to break 'A's Susanoo Tomoshibi with just sword skills!"
Tsunade said, "Are you sure?"
Shikaku interjected, "Could it have been a genjutsu?"
Clearly, no one believed Sasuke's words because they all understood the might of Susanoo Tomoshibi.
Whether they considered the battle between Uchiha Madara and the First Hokage at the Valley of the End, or just the recent displays of Susanoo Tomoshibi by 'A' and 'B', the two Mangekyou Uchiha from the Akatsuki, they could easily gauge the terror of Susanoo Tomoshibi.
How could an ordinary swordsman break through Susanoo Tomoshibi with just a blade?
Seeing that no one believed him, Sasuke was furious. "I've told you the truth, whether you believe it or not!"
Tsunade didn't dwell on it and instead asked, "What happened to 'A' who had taken Naruto?"
Sasuke shook his head. "I only saw him kill that swordsman before charging back into the sandstorm. I don't know anything else."
"So it really was him who released Amaterasu in the sandstorm..." Tsunade muttered, then added, "But why did he leave without taking Naruto?"
The only explanation Tsunade could think of was that 'A' had also been injured during the battle. To escape from being pursued by the Hidden Leaf, he was forced to abandon Naruto.
But that raised even more questions.
Why had 'A' traveled all the way from the Land of Fire to here? Why didn't the Akatsuki send reinforcements?
And who were those enemies hiding beneath the sand, neither human nor ghost, and what was their relationship with the Akatsuki?
At that moment, with the sound of wind rushing, the backup forces from the Hidden Leaf arrived, followed closely by the support squad hastily sent by the Hidden Sand.
Seeing that reinforcements were sufficient, Shikaku looked at Tsunade. "Lady Tsunade, do we continue the pursuit, or do we head back to the village?"
Everyone turned to Tsunade, waiting for her decision.
Not only Tsunade but many others suspected that 'A' might be injured, which made many of them want to take advantage of this opportunity to capture him.
Standing by Tsunade's side, Shizune anxiously advised, "Lady Tsunade, we should return to the village first."
Tsunade nodded. "Let's return to the village first!"
She knew her own condition best. During the earlier battle, she had struggled to suppress her hemophobia. If they continued pursuing, she feared she would be unable to keep it under control.
On the other side, Uchiha Shinji, dashing across the desert, looked back to see that Tsunade and the others had not followed. He relaxed slightly.
Every minute was precious to him now, so after cutting off the Wind Country's anchor point, he didn't want any further confrontation with Tsunade.
"The anchor points in the Land of Fire and the Land of Wind have both been taken care of. Now, only the anchor points in the Land of Earth, the Land of Lightning, and the Land of Water remain..."
He stopped in his tracks and took out a map from his ninja pouch. On this map, he had clearly marked the locations of the five anchor points, with the one in the Land of Fire crossed out.
Raising his hand, he also crossed out the anchor point in the Land of Wind, then shifted his gaze to the three remaining anchor points, his brow furrowing gradually.
Rengoku Kyojuro's appearance made him realize that the defenders of the anchor points weren't limited to just the Twelve Demon Moons; there might also be those genius swordsmen from the Demon Slayer Corps!
This meant that his previous calculation of their combat strength was incorrect.
According to his earlier plan, the squads heading to the other three anchor points at this moment would probably be unable to handle the defenders there.
But he was just one person, and he could only rescue one side!
His gaze moved between the anchor points in the Land of Earth, the Land of Lightning, and the Land of Water, as he muttered, "Which side should I support?"
Land of Earth.
In a canyon, Karin walked energetically, as if she didn't know fatigue.
However, the squads of Grass shinobi sent secretly by the Grass Village to assist her in passing the Akatsuki test were all exhausted.
"That damned brat really is a remnant of the Uzumaki clan! After rushing like this for so long, she still refuses to take a break!"
"Ugh, this mission is truly exhausting!"
"I wonder what the test will be. Those people from the Akatsuki aren't easy to deal with. If they find us, we're in big trouble!"
Meanwhile, in another canyon, Neji was also dashing in the same direction as Karin.
Trailing far behind him was a clan team led by Hiashi Hyuga, the current head of the Hyuga clan!
