Naruto: Uchiha Rejects Konoha

Chapter 7: 7. The Villagers Can't Take It Anymore!

Soon, the Uchiha clan finalized their basic strategy at the clan meeting. With Yagami as a traverser, they may not fully understand his reasoning.

However, one thing they understand is that the Uchiha have been silent for too long, and Konoha has grown complacent...

"But... we've changed so suddenly, and we're neglecting our duties in the police force. Won't the village's leaders and the villagers have strong opinions? What will they think of us then?" the Fifth Elder asked, sounding worried.

"Think what they like! We Uchiha are rooted in the ninja world through our strength, not by others' opinions! Remember, everyone, we are Uchiha first and Konoha's shinobi second. Without Uchiha, what does the village mean to us?"

"For too long, whether by cooperating with the village or vying for the Hokage title, we've only sought approval. But with true strength, we don't need approval!"

At the end of the clan meeting, Yagami stood up, glancing at Itachi hiding in the corner, then at the radical faction and the supporting faction before returning to his position.

Many people, listening to Yagami's words, fell into thought.

Yes! If the Uchiha are gone, what future is there to discuss? Not to mention the family's pride...

As for Itachi, he was already shaken by today's events, and with Yagami's special attention, his mind was in turmoil.

Despite his maturity and independent thinking, the fact remains that Shisui's eyes were taken, and Yagami's force has cornered the village!

How am I supposed to handle the relationship between the family and the village? He thought he could view the situation comprehensively by distancing himself from the family, but now someone told him that distancing himself wouldn't bring him closer to the village—it would push him further from the family...

Although the Uchiha matter came to a close, many in Konoha couldn't sleep. The Hyūga clan held an overnight meeting, mobilizing to guard against Danzō.

Other clans did the same. After all, if the upper echelons are willing to seize a clan's Kekkei Genkai—especially from the Uchiha, the largest clan—it's truly alarming!

······

At Root headquarters, Danzō grew angrier, nearly snapping his cane.

"Damn! Damn! What a disgrace! Damn, Uchiha…"

Since he became Hokage's advisor, he had never suffered such a setback. Not only did he lose Shisui's eyes, but he also lost his own.

The Sharingan cannot reconcile him to this loss. Though he has targeted the Uchiha relentlessly, he hasn't eradicated them, and his resources are limited. He can only collect them in secrecy.

Danzō has only three, but now he must return one...

No! This old man will not endure this loss, and he cannot swallow this disgrace. One way or another, he will make the Uchiha suffer!

Watching as Root members departed with the Sharingan, Danzō thought grimly.

······

When dawn broke, the Fifth Elder arrived at the police department. He looked at the pile of complaint letters on his desk, gritted his teeth slightly, picked up the seal, and began another day of work.

In the past, when dealing with these complaint letters, he had no idea how to handle them. He would either give a verbal warning or transfer the person being complained about to a different location. Regardless of his approach, there was always criticism.

But today was different. The solution was simple: immediate suspension and recall. The individuals being complained about were no longer here. No complaints could be raised, right?

The best part was that, with such a clear and straightforward approach, the Fifth Elder felt inexplicably at ease.

"It seems Yagami was right; the clan members have indeed been suppressed for too long..." he murmured to himself. Even he, an elder, felt the relief, so others must feel it too.

Soon after, Fugaku, the captain, arrived at the police department. He glanced at the suspension list, and a faint smile played at the corners of his mouth.

With this recall, nearly eighty per cent of the police department's personnel were pulled back. Yagami claimed not to care about Konoha's pressure, but it was evident he truly couldn't control this.

Those who had been suspended soon received the news, and except for those who had attended the clan meeting, the rest were in shock.

"Captain, is this a mistake? We've been suspended?"

The Fifth Elder shot a glare at them, and the voices immediately quieted down.

"Did you not hear about what happened last night? This was the outcome of the clan meeting. Is there a problem?" Fugaku said calmly, maintaining his composure. Hearing that the incident from the previous night was connected to their suspension, those who didn't fully understand the situation were sensible enough not to protest further.

"Those who are suspended return to the clan immediately. For the rest, today's patrol area has been reassigned to the vicinity of our clan's property. No matter what happens elsewhere, you are not to intervene. Understood?"

Most of the remaining personnel were Supporting faction , and naturally, they followed the Fifth Elder's lead.

Moreover, Fugaku's words stirred a sense of caution among many. Shisui, a clan master, had been targeted by Danzō.

This arrangement explained why those who could be recalled were and those who couldn't be stationed near the clan. After all, they couldn't defend against the Root if even Shisui couldn't evade them.

With personnel being suspended and recalled, the police department felt notably emptier, leaving some villagers who had come to report issues confused.

Suddenly, a sharp voice rang out:

"What does Uchiha mean by this? I lost something—shouldn't you help me find it? If you can't handle that, what's the point of the police department? Isn't that right, everyone?"

A villager shouted arrogantly, and the gathered onlookers echoed in agreement. This sort of incident had happened often before, and they were long used to it.

They knew that the Uchiha, even if yelled at, wouldn't retaliate but would instead respond politely.

Previously, the Radical faction would never have dealt with such situations; the Supporting faction managed all issues with villagers.

The supporting faction, already inclined to maintain good relations with the village, had set this precedent, leading the villagers to expect it.

Yagami thought smugly; he couldn't find his belongings, and it was Uchiha's honour for him to come to the police department for help!

However, today was different. The police department refused to accept such cases, advising him instead to go to the mission department to issue a request for shinobi to retrieve his items.

Posting missions costs money! And it wasn't cheap. He wasn't rich—why should he pay for this? In the past, the police department handled this!

But soon, Yagami sensed something was wrong. They had gathered here for a while, yet no one from the police department had come out to address them, as if they didn't exist.
