Naruto: Uchiha Rejects Konoha

Chapter 34: 34. The First Cooperation With The Future Fifth Mizukage

"Master Genji! Is there anyone else up there?"

Soon, the top management of Mist Shinobi also arrived. The elder Genji, a contemporary of Ōnoki, not only held a similar status to the Mizukage in Mist Shinobi but was also in charge of most of the village's affairs.

Two people accompanied him: one was his guard, and the other was the rookie Mist Shinobi, Terumi Mei, the future Fifth Mizukage.

As one of the few people in the ninja world with two types of kekkei genkai, Terumi Mei was young, but her strength could not be underestimated. She immediately spotted Obito watching the battle from the Mizukage building.

"Susanoo? Is it from the Uchiha? Does Konoha want to start a war against Mist Shinobi?"

Genji glanced at Obito, paid little attention to him, and then turned to look at Susanoo on Yagami's body with a solemn expression. For someone of his experience in the ninja world, this power had a more intuitive resonance.

After all, the person who left this memory is called Uchiha Madara!

"It shouldn't be. Although Konoha was the victor of the Third War, they didn't exploit the fruits of victory. Instead, they sacrificed some interests after the war. They are now incapable of launching a war. Besides, the previous intelligence also stated that the Uchiha and Konoha are not united."

Terumi Mei analyzed, noting that although the Uchiha before them displayed formidable strength, there was no other Konoha presence.

If they intended to start a war, it wouldn't be like this. And the man had gone directly for the Mizukage. This situation was more like a challenge than a declaration of war.

"Mizukage-sama seems to have a subtle connection with the man in the Mizukage building!" Ao reported that he joined Master Genji and noticed something peculiar with his Byakugan.

Upon hearing this, Master Genji's expression darkened. He was aware of the Mizukage's past and had sensed the changes within Mist Shinobi.

As the Fourth Mizukage, Yagura was undoubtedly competent at first; otherwise, as a Jinchūriki, it would have been difficult to secure the Mizukage position.

"It seems that that person is the cause of Mist Shinobi's decline..."

A person doesn't change drastically overnight. The previous Third Mizukage had suddenly promoted the "Blood Mist" ideology. Later, Yagura rose and overthrew the Third Generation's rule.

But again, overnight, Yagura, who initially promoted restraint, began ruling with brutal policies, just like the Third Generation.

"Tsk! Damn kid, it seems Mist Shinobi won't be viable for me much longer..."

Obito noticed the changes in Master Genji and the others, realizing that his control over Mist Shinobi was failing. He felt a deep resentment towards Yagami.

If it weren't for Yagami's unexpected interference, he could have continued tormenting Mist Shinobi. Now, he would not only have to withdraw but also risk exposing his identity, introducing numerous complications.

"Since it's not an invasion, follow my orders from now on."

Master Genji decided that Mist Shinobi could no longer sustain the Blood Mist policy. Although Uchiha's arrival was mysterious, it presented an opportunity.

To overthrow the Fourth Generation's rule was the goal of many in Mist Shinobi. But Yagura's status as Mizukage and his strength as a Jinchūriki had made it unfeasible.

Moreover, they now realized Yagura's mental state was compromised, and a powerful foreign ally was present. Even though this ally might not support them, at least he wasn't an immediate threat, so they could take a gamble.

Mist Shinobi now knew of his presence, and Obito no longer hid. He jumped off the building and activated Fire Style with Kamui in his right eye.

"It seems this 25-year-old can't activate Susanoo! He's resorting to ninjutsu instead. I don't know if Susanoo—"

Yagami was about to mock Obito, but his expression shifted. Quickly forming a hand sign, he turned and shot a Great Fireball.

The flame passed through Obito's body, but the first that followed forced Obito to cancel his ninjutsu and phase through Susanoo to escape.

So close! He almost forgot that Kamui could bypass Susanoo's defences.

As expected, the man who instigated the Fourth Ninja World War in the original timeline couldn't be underestimated!

"Water Style: Water Dragon Bullet!"

Just as Yagami prepared to resume his assault on Obito, a blue figure appeared between them, casting a Water Dragon Bullet that drenched Obito.

Hmm? The future Fifth Mizukage. The fishnets on her legs look good, but compared to her Fourth War self, she lacks a bit of allure!

Yagami glanced at Terumi Mei, and she gave him a slight nod. Although it was their first meeting, they shared a tacit understanding. Yagami turned to face Yagura, who had now revealed his tailed beast.

He wasn't worried that Terumi Mei couldn't handle Obito; after all, she wasn't alone in this fight, and even if Terumi Mei's strength was not at the level she would have as Mizukage, holding him back shouldn't be a significant issue.

At this moment, the massive form of the Three-Tails loomed over Mist Shinobi, with a high-density concentration of chakra rapidly forming in front of its mouth, condensing into the embryonic form of a Tailed Beast Ball.

"Tailed Beast Ball? I won't let you unleash it!"

Seeing this, Yagami held back neither chakra nor ocular power. The armour covered Susanoo, and a massive chakra sword appeared in its hand.

Unlike the typical Uchiha katana, this was a giant sword whose weight could be felt just by looking at it, generating a powerful gust with each swing.

Wielding the enormous sword, Susanoo struck down on the Three Tails' head, instantly disrupting and detonating the forming Tailed Beast Ball.

"Lightning Style: Change · Confine Thunder Prison!"

As the smoke settled, eight thunder halberds descended from the sky, encircling the Three Tails and immobilizing it.

Yagami approached the Three-Tails, his Mangekyō Sharingan meeting the creature's massive eyes, initiating an illusion.

It is the Jinchūriki who are immune to illusions, not the Tailed Beasts.

Moreover, Yagura was still under external control. With no interference, casting an illusion on the Three-Tails was unlikely to backfire.

In the Three Tails' eyes, pupil power was clearly present!

It seemed Obito's control over the Three-Tails and Yagura was separate, but in terms of ocular power, Obito was no match for him!

With one Mangekyō against a pair, Obito was at a significant disadvantage.

Realizing his pupil's power had been overridden, Obito tried to halt Yagami, but under Terumi Mei's command, the Mist Shinobi ninja restrained him, leaving him no opportunity to intervene.

"I hope this works! This thing cost me half of my feedback points..."

As Yagami's illusion overpowered Obito's control of the Three-Tails, he formed the "Release Tails" hand seal, attempting to forcibly extract the Three-Tails from Yagura's body.

After encountering the Wood Human Technique previously, Yagami had pondered the significance of the tailed beasts, so when this sealing technique appeared in the store, he purchased it, anticipating situations like this.

Obito had once extracted the Nine Tails from Kushina with this technique, so pulling the Three-Tails from Yagura, who was under his influence, would be manageable.

"Damn it, it's actually the Release Tail Seal!"

Obito felt a surge of anxiety. Each tailed beast was crucial for Project Tsuki no Me. If Yagami intended to kill the Three-Tails, he wouldn't be so concerned, as the beast could eventually reincarnate. But clearly, they intended to take it away!

Who wants the hassle of fighting a wielding Mangekyō just to retrieve a tailed beast, rather than capturing it in the wild?

As the tailed beast was drawn out, Yagura's figure emerged from the Three-Tails, which, under Yagami's control, signed a contract, becoming his Summoning beast.

With Yagura severed from the tailed beast and the Three-Tails teleported elsewhere, Obito, no matter how frustrated, had no choice but to retreat.

The battle that had shaken all of the Mist Shinobi finally subsided, but as the Mist Shinobi observed the figure beside the Fourth Mizukage, their joy at victory quickly faded.

This individual was someone who could face the Three Tails head-on! Just as they hadn't dared to defy Yagura while he was controlled, they felt the same hesitation toward Yagami, who had defeated Yagura.

It wasn't about pride or dignity; Mist Shinobi's current strength simply didn't permit resistance.

"It seems this isn't the time for formalities. How about addressing the village's issues first?"

Since none of the Mist Shinobi approached him, Yagami decided to speak up, moving toward Terumi Mei and addressing her directly.

Though Master Genji was the true authority in Mist Shinobi, he was elderly! Why not speak with a charming beauty?

Hearing this, Terumi Mei and the senior members of Mist Shinobi sighed in relief; it appeared he wasn't an enemy.

"Are you Uchiha Yagami?"

Looking at the young man who was a head shorter than herself, Terumi Mei asked tentatively.

"You've heard of me? It seems Mist Shinobi isn't entirely isolated from the world!"

Well, it appeared he'd gained some fame in the ninja world. Even Mist Shinobi had heard of him. No doubt, reports on him were likely sitting on the desks of other hidden villages as well.

"On behalf of Kirigakure, thank you for your discretion and assistance. Please, take a rest while we..."

"Terumi Mei, we old folks are in charge of the village! You handle our Uchiha guest!"

Master Genji abruptly interrupted Terumi Mei, assigning her to entertain Yagami.

The old master might be elderly, but he wasn't oblivious. During the fight, Yagami's gaze frequently fell on Terumi Mei, and they shared a mutual understanding when dealing with the masked man. Yet, he'd chosen to speak to Terumi Mei afterwards.

It was clear that this Uchiha kid had a weakness for beautiful women!

Though he looked a bit young, a man's inclinations are natural, regardless of age.

They didn't yet know his true intentions for coming to Mist Shinobi but aligning interests could be advantageous and potentially strengthen bonds.

As for him being from Konoha, such concerns were trivial. There are no eternal enemies in the ninja world. Mist Shinobi and Konoha have formed alliances before...
