Chapter 174: Chapter 174: The Resurrection of Nagano
The moment Obito performed the Edo Tensei, memories began flashing through his mind.
When they first met, they were just five or six years old—awkward kids seated together thanks to Kisuke-sensei's matchmaking.
Nagano was shy, quiet, and terrible at expressing himself back then.
No one could've predicted he'd eventually become that guy—the one everyone wanted to punch.
(Not that I, Obito, had anything to do with that. Definitely not.)
From that day on, their relationship evolved from friends to frenemies who casually exchanged insults about each other's families.
Sending "telegrams" to each other every other day. Sparring matches every chance they got.
To outsiders, their bond seemed as hostile as could be.
But during the Battle of Kannabi Bridge, Obito saved Nagano's life. In return, Nagano risked his own life to save Rin.
It was in those moments they realized: no matter how much they argued, they still made space for each other in their hearts.
A swirl of talismans suddenly broke Obito's reverie, fluttering in the air before dissolving into mist.
From the array, a figure stepped out—a young boy, no older than thirteen or fourteen, with eyes full of confusion.
"Where am I…? Wasn't I in the Pure Land?"
Nagano blinked, looking around in bewilderment. When his gaze landed on Obito, silently watching him from the side, he froze.
He frowned, uncertain. "Wait… you're… Obito?"
Obito nodded, too emotional to speak.
Nagano stared, then blurted out, "What the hell?! You died too? And what's with that face—why are you excited, man? You're dead!"
Obito: "…"
Yep, that's the Nagano I remember. Loud, rude, and perfectly on brand.
Nagano tilted his head, his expression skeptical. "So, what's the deal? Is this some luxury Pure Land suite you got? Did you drag me here for a party?"
Obito sighed. "This isn't the Pure Land, Nagano. I brought you back to the living world using the Edo Tensei."
"…What?"
Nagano's eyes widened in disbelief. "You can do that now? Bringing people back from the dead? Nah."
"I can prove it," Obito offered, gesturing for Nagano to follow.
The two exited the Kamui dimension, arriving in a secluded forest.
As soon as Nagano took in his surroundings, he screamed, "HOLY CRAP! I'M REALLY BACK!"
He ran around like a madman before stopping by a creek to see his reflection. Staring at himself in the water, he muttered, "This… this is insane…"
Obito approached cautiously, assuming Nagano was overwhelmed with emotion.
"Don't worry. I'll find a way to free you from this form. I promise."
"Hold up!" Nagano cut him off, excitement lighting up his face. "Let me get this straight. Do I have infinite chakra now?"
"…Yes."
"And I'm immortal?"
"…Technically, yes."
Nagano smacked Obito upside the head. "Then why the hell would I want you to fix it?!"
"…What?"
"You heard me! Infinite chakra, immortality—I'm basically a god now. Why would I give that up?"
Obito: "…"
Nagano grinned. "Man, I look so cool like this. Forget living a normal life—I'm living the dream!"
"But…" Obito stammered, "you can't start a family in this state!"
"Pfft, family? Bro, it's Konoha Year 54. Who still cares about that? Plus, I've got five older brothers. I'm off the hook."
"What about love? You'll never be with the girl you like."
"Love? Please. Real men don't need girls. I admire true manly bonds—like Guy-sensei!"
"…I'm backing away now."
...
Meanwhile, in secret meeting room, seven formidable figures gathered.
Obito addressed the group with a smirk. "Before we start, let's congratulate Deidara. Thanks to everyone's guidance, he's officially an S-rank rogue ninja!"
Scattered applause followed.
Deidara's face turned red with pride. Finally, no one could call him "the rebellious kid in a group of S-rank criminals"!
"Thank you, senpai!" he began, tearing up. "I'd like to—"
"Enough," Obito interrupted. "The meeting begins now."
Deidara glared daggers at him.
Ignoring the murderous aura, Obito turned to Kakuzu. "Our treasurer, please summarize last year's financial performance."
Kakuzu nodded, speaking in his usual monotone. "I'll keep it brief…"
The meeting continued, with members debating recruitment strategies and future plans.
Even among chaos and ambition, Obito couldn't help but smile. For all their quirks, this team of outcasts felt strangely like family.
