Naruto: The Shattered Eyes

Chapter 5: The Path Forward

Vwhoom—!

The moment Suguru poured his chakra into the Chakra Induction Paper, it simultaneously combusted, turning into nothing but ashes in the next second.

"So it's Fire Release." Suguru smacked his lips. As expected of someone born in the Land of Fire.

[ A/N: I spun the wheel for this. Let's see where it goes. ]

That made his life much simpler. The sheer quantity of Fire Release jutsus that Konohagakure should have in its archives would be staggering. He could raid the Uchiha and Sarutobi clans if he had the time.

"Fire is also a fun affinity to have." Suguru licked his lips, wondering what he could do with such an affinity. The image of Uchiha Madara using the Majestic Destroyer Flame would be an exquisite experience to replicate.

The goal was to become a walking nuke.

"...Yeah. I like the sound of that."

A grin broke through his expression. The disbelief of actually having chakra had yet to dissipate.

Suguru laughed. He laughed for a few minutes until his stomach started hurting. When his excitement began to die, he stood up and walked out of his house.

"The Academy will take a while before it is rebuilt. What can I do while waiting?"

Walking around the village, Suguru muttered to himself. Since he was already capable of harnessing chakra, getting into Konoha's Academy wouldn't be difficult.

"Oh, that reminds me..."

Suguru paused as a realization dawned upon him. He was five years old. There was someone else who was at a similar age as him.

"Uchiha Itachi..."

Suguru's eyes gleamed. Shishui should then be just a little bit older than both of them. Furthermore, Kakashi had only been in the Anbu for a little more than a year.

"What a weird age to be transmigrated in,"

Suguru felt a bit awkward. Being in the same generation as a genius of Itachi's caliber would be a depressing experience. On top of that, judging from his body's capability to control chakra, he had a hunch that the original Kagami Suguru couldn't even become a genin. His parents weren't ninjas. Instead, their acute business acumen made them successful merchants.

Suguru's lips twitched. 'Though I have my Kaisugan, it's clear that my doujutsu doesn't include the same talents that Itachi has.'

All he had at his disposal was the ability to spy on people without leaving any traces. Unfortunately, even that ability was limited.

'The range of my Kaisugan should be at fifty kilometers.'

With the actual size of Konohagakure that he was now experiencing, it covered a decent amount of the village. It was at least enough for his needs. After all, the village had a radius of about one hundred and twenty kilometers.

[ A/N: My source is a post called "Konoha Size" by TataHakai, on 17 October 2017 ]

Unfortunately...

"I can't seem to expand this size."

It left a bad taste in his mouth. Sure, it was a powerful ability at the get-go. However, the lack of room for growth felt a little restricting.

Suguru shook his head, halting his thoughts there. A low chuckle left his lips.

"Wow... Have I no shame?"

He already had something like a cheat code, and yet he was complaining? Suguru instantly changed his train of thought. As he walked, he moved to encompass the Hokage's office within his Kaisugan's range.

'Hmmm, should I move closer to the center of the village? With my eyes, I should be able to gather a large amount of intel, even if I can't hear anything.'

Since he lived alone, having such a large house exacerbated the loneliness. To keep himself sane, Suguru wanted to live in a comfy apartment that could fulfill all his needs within arm's reach.

'Yeah, I'll do that. I'll sell the house, and get a small apartment near the center of the village. That way, I can make the most use of my Kaisugan.'

With that thought, Suguru instantly sprung to action.

Although he had to ask for a lot of help from the adults, he somehow got a new apartment at the end of the day. As he was dealing with only civilians, Suguru didn't have much to worry about besides their scams and schemes.

Luckily, with Hiruzen around, Konoha's culture wasn't all too bloodthirsty and exploitative. The Will of Fire was such a powerful force of unity that even the civilians were heavily influenced.

"..."

Looking at his new apartment, Suguru was speechless.

"Is it because a lot of people were killed by the Kyuubi? Getting a new place was way too easy..." Suguru smacked his lips and took out an item. He borrowed a Byakugan to access his chakra and unfurled the storage scroll.

With a few explosions of smoke, Suguru arranged all the new furniture he had bought. With the surplus of Ryo from selling his old house and the space around it, he was able to invest in high-quality, comfy furniture.

Half an hour later...

Sweaty and tired from lifting a bunch of heavy furniture items with his underdeveloped physique, Suguru retired onto the couch. His body sank visibly into its velvet cushions, wrapping him in a soft hug.

His apartment was on the third story of a tall building near one of Konoha's central markets. His neighbors were all civilians, with only a handful of shinobi living a couple blocks away. The view was decent, and he could see the Hokage's office from the window in his kitchen.

Of course, that didn't matter to him.

Sitting on his couch, Suguru activated his Kaisugan.

"I wonder if Lord Hokage has left the office already..."

—Crack!

***

Hiruzen was finalizing a few documents to end the day. Despite being hailed as a "God of Shinobi," the weight of all his paperwork was back-breaking. His eyes had grown dark and listless, growing darker as the sun set further.

Eventually, he completed his work. Unaware of the eyes that had been reading through his documents.

'Unfortunately, the Kaisugan isn't capable of x-ray vision...' Suguru wished he could do a little more.

As the Third Hokage left his office, Suguru continued to linger there. His gaze roamed around, looking for anything that could catch his interest. From the scrolls to the documents, he was desperate for any leverage.

After looking around for a while, Suguru had begun to lose interest. The restriction of being unable to see through objects was sad. It was then...

"Hm?"
