Naruto: The Rise Of Uchiha

Chapter 31: Chapter:31

(Extra Chapter Today😉).

Upon entering Konoha, Uchiha Fugaku walked through the streets, observing the hustle and bustle of both civilians and shinobi. The scene depicted harmony and prosperity, yet Fugaku knew well the darkness lurking beneath this façade.

Suddenly, a masked ANBU ninja appeared before Fugaku, blocking his path.

"Patriarch Fugaku, the Hokage-sama requests your presence at the Hokage Building," the masked ninja said.

Fugaku frowned slightly. He had just returned to Konoha and had not even gone home before being summoned. His instincts told him that something was off, and he feared what awaited him.

"Did Hokage-sama say why?" Fugaku asked.

"No, Hokage-sama did not specify," the ninja responded.

"I'll go immediately," Fugaku replied, shifting direction to follow the ANBU towards the Hokage Building.

Silence accompanied Fugaku as he arrived at the Hokage's office, where an ominous feeling grew stronger. Inside, beyond the Third Hokage, stood a man clad in bandages over his right eye and arm, leaning on a cane — Danzo Shimura, the notorious leader of Root, known for his sinister and manipulative ways.

Danzo wasted no time and accused Fugaku, "Uchiha Fugaku, you've been conspiring with shinobi from other villages and killing our own!"

Fugaku was taken aback by the accusation but quickly countered, "Danzo, you dare slander me without evidence?"

Fugaku had recently heard rumors of Root losing a team of elite shinobi, but he never expected Danzo to pin the blame on him. While Fugaku had his own share of involvement in the matter, it was not as Danzo described.

Turning to the Third Hokage, Fugaku demanded justice. "Hokage-sama, Danzo's accusations are baseless. I ask you to stand up for me and the Uchiha clan."

The Third Hokage, known for his calm demeanor, appeared to be fair as always. "Danzo came to me with claims against you, but I assure you, Fugaku, I will investigate this matter thoroughly. If the accusations are false, Danzo will apologize."

Then, he turned to Danzo. "Danzo, do you have any evidence to support your claims?"

Danzo, with a cold expression, spoke. "Eight days ago, I had one of my men secretly follow Fugaku. He lost contact soon after. The team I sent to investigate was attacked by a Kage-level shinobi. Fugaku must be connected."

Without missing a beat, Fugaku retorted, "So, Danzo admits to sending spies to follow me? Hokage-sama, this is unacceptable!"

The Third Hokage nodded in agreement. "Danzo, spying on a clan leader is inappropriate."

Danzo, however, was not deterred. "That's irrelevant. What matters is that these men were killed, and it was no coincidence."

Fugaku, sensing the underlying bias, knew both Danzo and the Hokage were playing their roles. Sarutobi may have appeared neutral, but he often allowed Danzo to handle the dirty work while keeping his own hands clean.

Fugaku composed himself and said, "After leaving the village, I sensed I was being followed. Thinking it was an enemy shinobi, I used a shadow clone to escape. I'm unaware of what happened after."

Danzo was unconvinced. "That's your story, but where's your proof?"

Fugaku met Danzo's cold gaze with his own. "Where's yours, Danzo?"

Danzo snarled, "The fact that these men are dead is proof enough."

Fugaku, without backing down, turned once more to the Hokage. "Hokage-sama, without proper evidence, no one will be convinced of these accusations. It's dangerous to condemn the head of a clan based on mere coincidence."

The Third Hokage, appearing thoughtful, coughed lightly. "Indeed, the evidence is insufficient to accuse Fugaku."

Danzo, frustrated, remained silent but knew there wasn't enough to directly implicate Fugaku at the moment.

"Hokage-sama," Fugaku said, "I'm tired from my travels. If there's nothing else, I'll take my leave."

With a final cold glance at Danzo, Fugaku left the room.

After Fugaku's departure, Danzo turned to the Hokage. "Sarutobi, this is no coincidence. Fugaku is involved."

"I know," the Third Hokage replied, puffing on his pipe. "But without concrete evidence, we can't bring him down. Investigate further. Look into flying techniques — there aren't many in the shinobi world capable of such attacks."

"I'll handle it," Danzo said coldly, leaning on his cane as he walked out.
