Chapter 34: Winning or losing
Chapter 34 Winning or losing.
Kiba looked at the field with a
slight wry smile on his face. He now understood why Kushina hadn't stopped
Obito's challenge.
At the same time, Kiba noticed
Hirohiko returning with a poker face, and he frowned slightly.
Hirohiko is... completely
disappointed! It's rare to see him so eager to fight; he must have been looking
forward to this battle... But...
"It hurts..." Uchiha
Obito clutched his left hand, sitting on the ground, looking at Hirohiko's back
with a faint look of discouragement.
Is this the genius who awakened
his Sharingan at seven? Can I... really surpass someone like him?
"Obito... are you
alright?" Nohara Rin ran over to check Obito's injury.
Obito was lost in his thoughts,
not responding. The battle had been a complete defeat for him. He hardly saw
his opponent before being thrown to the ground, dislocating his hand. There was
no point continuing the match.
"Idiot, you're an Uchiha too.
Don't you know the difference between an Uchiha with Sharingan and one
without?" Kakashi stood before him, covering his face with one hand, his
tone full of helplessness.
After speaking, Kakashi noticed
the disappointment in Obito's eyes.
Kakashi sighed, stretching out a
hand. "Can you still stand up?"
Hearing Kakashi's words and seeing
his outstretched hand, Obito was taken aback. Suddenly, with a cry of pain, his
dislocated arm was reset. Nohara Rin smiled apologetically beside him.
"I'm sorry, Obito."
The pain shocked Obito out of his
despair. He looked at Kakashi, then at Rin Nohara, and suddenly smiled.
He reached out, taking Kakashi's
hand, and Kakashi pulled him up. The three of them gathered together.
Namikaze Minato watched his
disciples from a distance, smiling slightly.
Obito, it's not about winning or
losing; it's about your heart.
Hirohiko walked straight up to
Kiba, his thoughts clear: Sure enough, he's the one for me!
Facing Hirohiko, Kiba blinked.
"What's wrong, Hirohiko?"
Hirohiko's eyes flickered as he
looked at Kiba. "I won't lose again in the Chunin Exam."
"I won't lose to you
again!" Yukina stepped forward, echoing Hirohiko's sentiment.
Kiba looked at both of them. Are
they... aiming to surpass me? Targeting me?
Kiba was slightly stunned. He had
defeated Hirohiko and Yukina in the Ninja Academy sparring, but he hadn't taken
it seriously. Over time, he saw Hirohiko and Yukina as hardworking, dedicated
geniuses.
There were times when Kiba felt he
couldn't persevere, times when he wanted to slack off. But seeing these two
working hard motivated him to keep up his extreme training. He never saw them
as defeated opponents and almost forgot the Academy sparring.
They've been chasing me all this
time!
This is... the kind of rivalry
friends have in anime?
"I won't lose!" Kiba's
smile widened, warmth filling his heart.
"Then, from tomorrow... I'll
train you all separately. It won't be easy, so be prepared!" Uzumaki
Kushina placed one hand on Kiba's head and the other on Hirohiko's, leaning
closer.
Seeing Uzumaki Kushina's smile,
Kiba, Yukina, and Hirohiko couldn't help but smile too.
Kiba glanced at Minato's team.
Kakashi sighed and shrugged, while Obito was arguing, slightly blushing. Nohara
Rin watched them, smiling.
Obito initiated this to prevent
Kakashi from feeling guilty about losing their Chunin qualifications? Yes, this
is the Naruto world!
He turned his attention back to
Yukina, Hirohiko, and Kushina Uzumaki.
Well, let's find a way to have
another barbecue!
Kiba's smile grew, revealing his
white teeth.
"Oh... Hirohiko, this is your
kunai." Kiba suddenly remembered, handing Hirohiko his kunai.
Hirohiko nodded, taking it and
placing it in his ninja pouch.
"Okay, although I won the
Chunin qualification duel, training will continue. Each of you rest for an
hour, then meet at the assembly point!" Uzumaki Kushina glanced at Kiba.
"Oh!" Kiba, Hirohiko,
and Yukina responded.
The team disbanded in place.
Kiba, Hirohiko, and Yukina left
separately.
Namikaze Minato also disbanded his
team. Amidst Obito's debate, they left slowly. Homura went to report the result
to the Third Hokage, his face still reflecting disbelief at Kiba defeating
Kakashi.
After everyone left, only Namikaze
Minato and Uzumaki Kushina remained in the field. They slowly approached each
other.
When they got closer, Uzumaki
Kushina stretched out her hand. "According to our agreement, you lose.
Hand it over!"
Namikaze Minato smiled, pulling a
kunai from his ninja pouch. It was a three-pronged kunai with a string of runes
on the hilt—the Flying Thunder God Kunai.
Uzumaki Kushina grinned, taking
the kunai from Minato's hand, her demeanor girlish in front of her lover.
Minato only smiled, unfazed by
their private bet.
The bet was set the day the Chunin
Exam Qualification Competition was decided. If Kiba won, Namikaze Minato would
give Uzumaki Kushina a Flying Thunder God Kunai.
"Minato, thank you."
Uzumaki Kushina's smile faded, and she thanked him seriously.
"Thank you. I lost the bet,
and you've taught a great disciple—no, not just Kiba, but Hirohiko too,"
Namikaze Minato replied.
Uzumaki Kushina shook her head,
looking at the kunai in her hand without saying anything.
"It's almost dinner time.
Let's go eat," Namikaze Minato suggested. "You've worked hard. What
do you want to eat?"
Uzumaki Kushina smiled sweetly.
"Ichiraku Ramen."
"Okay, you really love
ramen," Minato said, patting her head.
Then, they left together.
