Happy reading!

It has been a year since that fateful day when I saw the true might of a shinobi. The experience of witnessing the Third Hokage's power firsthand was both awe-inspiring and humbling. Later, I learned that his grand showing of power was not just about fighting but also a reminder to the noble and clan lords of who truly ruled Konoha. The change was instant. Upon reaching the camp, the Lord Hokage personally delivered Kazuma to the Lord Daimyo for justice.

The change was palpable. People were reminded that for all the appearances of an old man, the Hokage could wipe most of the people out without breaking a sweat. The sound and impact of the fighting could be felt even from the base. It wasn't just about physical strength; it was a psychological reminder to the noble families and clan leaders that the true power in Konoha lay with the Hokage. This display of might reasserted his dominance and deterred any thoughts of rebellion or subversion within the political hierarchy of the village.

Behind the scenes, a deeply buried secret of the Daimyo's family came to light, adding layers of complexity to the political landscape. Years ago, it was believed that the Daimyo's eldest son had perished at birth alongside Lady Seishitsu, his first wife. However, in reality, the Daimyo had secretly raised his eldest son in hiding, fearing for his life amidst potential threats. Publicly, the Daimyo presented his second son, born from his second wife, the current Seishitsu, as the heir to avoid any danger to his true firstborn.

When the Daimyo finally brought his rightful heir to court, it caused a significant uproar. The father of the Daimyo's second wife, a powerful lord in the realm, was furious. This revelation threatened to dismantle the carefully maintained balance of power. Kazuma, discontent with the Hokage's increasing influence and commanding the might of Hi no Kuni, saw an opportunity. He supported the second son, who opposed the Hokage's empowerment, aiming to weaken the Hokage's political position.

The conflict escalated when the second son was brought before the court and executed. This dramatic turn of events underscored the volatile nature of the political alliances and rivalries. The execution sent shockwaves through the noble families, further consolidating the Hokage's and the rightful heir's positions while demonstrating the lengths to which the Daimyo and Hokage would go to maintain their authority.

As the Hokage handed Kazuma over to the Lord Daimyo, it became clear that there was more at play than just justice. This act of deference was a strategic move, showcasing the Hokage's respect for the Daimyo's authority while simultaneously reaffirming his own control. By publicly acknowledging the Daimyo's role, the Hokage maintained the delicate balance of power, ensuring that Konoha's military strength did not overshadow the Daimyo's political influence. This balance was crucial, as it prevented the fragmentation of power and kept the village united under a single, cohesive leadership.

As we returned to the Leaf Village, the atmosphere was charged with newfound respect and fear for the Hokage. The satisfaction I felt was immense, knowing I had witnessed a defining moment in our village's history. Initially, I had aimed to impress the higher-ups during the Chunin Exams, but my actions and the recent events had catapulted me beyond my wildest dreams.

With the money I had earned, I decided to buy a small, cozy apartment. Despite the substantial amount of money I now possessed, I didn't want to take any chances and risk falling back into poverty by indulging in lavishness. My new home was modest but comfortable, a place where I could relax and focus on my growth as a shinobi. It felt good to have a space of my own, a sanctuary where I could recharge and plan my next steps. The simple furnishings and minimal decorations were a reminder to stay grounded and keep my priorities in check.

Kosuke, who had taken me under his wing, was the first person I sought out. His experience and wisdom had always been a guiding light for me, and I needed his perspective now more than ever.

Meeting him under the large oak tree near the training grounds, I could see the recognition in his eyes. "Naruto, congratulations on your promotion," he said, his voice steady and warm. "You've come a long way."

"Thanks, Kosuke," I replied as I sat down beside him, the weight of the past year settling on my shoulders. We shared a moment of silence, the gravity of his words sinking in. Then Kosuke broke the silence with a lighter tone. "So, Naruto, how have you been handling all the attention? I heard the villagers are calling you a hero now."

I scratched my head, feeling a bit embarrassed. "Yeah, it's been a bit overwhelming. People stop me on the street, wanting to shake my hand or thank me. I even got a free bowl of ramen at Ichiraku's the other day."

Kosuke laughed heartily. "Well, you deserve it. You've worked hard, and you've proven yourself. Just don't let it go to your head. Remember, there's always more to learn."

I nodded, appreciating his encouragement. "What about you, Kosuke? What have you been up to?"

He leaned back against the tree, a thoughtful look in his eyes. "I've been busy with missions, as always. But I've also been working on some personal projects. Studying new jutsu, refining my techniques. You know, the usual stuff."

I smiled, feeling a sense of camaraderie. "I guess we never stop learning, do we?"

Kosuke shook his head. "No, we don't. And that's the beauty of being a shinobi. There's always room for growth, always another challenge to overcome."

His expression turned serious. "Naruto, I know you're on a high right now, but I have to ask: How do you feel about your position with the higher-ups? Everything's happening so fast."

Kosuke chuckled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "The Daimyo promoting a shinobi is a direct challenge to the Hokage's authority. It's a power play, showing that even shinobi matters can be influenced by him. You're a stark reminder of that, and it won't be looked upon kindly."

I frowned, trying to digest his words. "So, what does that mean for me?"

"It means you need to be careful," Kosuke replied, his tone turning serious again. "In the village, you've become somewhat of a mini-hero—the prodigy who saved the Daimyo. People will want to talk, to be seen with you. But don't let it go to your head. Remember, for all your newfound fame, there are forces at play much bigger than any one person."

His words hit home. I might have gotten a big head if it wasn't for what I saw the Hokage doing. We were mere insects thinking of ourselves as prodigies, while true geniuses like Hiruzen Sarutobi walked these lands. It was like an insect preening its size and strength in front of an elephant.

Kosuke continued, "Stay clear of anything that will make you stand out for a few months. Blend in, focus on your training, and let things settle. The last thing you need is to become a pawn in a power struggle you don't understand."

I nodded, understanding the gravity of his advice. "I will, Kosuke. Thank you."

He smiled, his eyes softening. "You're a good kid, Naruto. You've got a bright future ahead of you."

Our conversation shifted to lighter topics, sharing stories and catching up. It felt good to talk to Kosuke, to get his perspective on things. But his earlier advice lingered in my mind, a reminder of the delicate balance of power within the village.

As we talked, I realized just how much I had grown in the past year. The battles, the training, the experiences—they had all shaped me into the shinobi I was becoming. But I also knew that I still had a long way to go.

As I left the training grounds, I felt a sense of purpose and clarity. The journey ahead was daunting, but with the lessons I had learned and the experiences I had gained, I felt ready to face whatever challenges came my way. The Will of Fire burned brightly within me, and I was determined to make the most of this opportunity.

Returning to the village with this newfound perspective, I decided to use my promotion and the resources it afforded me to further my training. I purchased a modest but cozy apartment, relishing the joy of having my own space for the first time. I decorated it simply but comfortably, ensuring it was a place where I could relax and focus on my growth as a shinobi.

Kosuke's advice to stay low-key proved invaluable. As he predicted, an invitation—or rather, an order—to join the ANBU came soon after. The letter was polite, but the undertone was clear: it was more of a command than a request. The pay was better, and they provided all the equipment I needed. I had to report to the base after four months, which I would have accepted anyway for the pay at least. The first four months were an intense boot camp, followed by placement into a team.

In the last months before joining ANBU, I made full use of my Special Jonin status. With the money I had, I started visiting the Jonin lounge. I didn't drink, but I enjoyed the premium food and conversations with the Old Hokage's guard platoon, who wanted details of the now-infamous failed coup of the Fire Court.

I met Hayate and his girlfriend, Yūgao Uzuki, who had recently become a Jonin. Iwashi-sensei, being an elite ANBU, had access to the lounge too. I also took full advantage of my Jonin-level clearance in the library, devouring books on chakra theory, advanced jutsu, history, and now politics and economics from both civilian and shinobi archives. There wasn't enough time to study everything.

When I discussed my newfound drive with Kosuke, he chuckled and gave me a solution: the Shadow Clone Jutsu. A clone that could transmit its memories upon dispelling—this was ingenious. When I learned that Lord Tobirama had created it, I thought a shrine should be made for him in every corner of the shinobi world. Just to bow down in reverence to that intelligence.

I could make four good clones, which Kosuke assured me was more than most could. Despite having low Jonin-level reserves, my chakra was dense enough that I could make more clones with less chakra. I sent three clones to the shinobi library and one to the civilian library. These clones would dispel after I slept, in intervals, to avoid migraines or mental damage. This was a system I developed through trial and error.

Using the Shadow Clone Jutsu, I expanded my knowledge far beyond just combat skills. My studies in history and politics opened my eyes to the intricate web of power and influence that shaped our world. I learned how historical events had shaped the current political landscape and how decisions made in the past continued to affect the present.

From the civilian library, I delved into economics, understanding the financial structures that supported both civilian life and shinobi operations. I learned about trade, resource management, and the economic strategies employed by the village to maintain its stability and prosperity. This knowledge changed my perspective, making me realize that being a shinobi wasn't just about fighting; it was also about understanding the world we were sworn to protect.

I also improved my skills in diplomacy and negotiation, recognizing that sometimes battles were won not through force, but through words. These skills would prove invaluable in my future missions, where understanding and manipulating the political landscape could be the difference between success and failure.

My studies also included advanced chakra control techniques and the application of various jutsu in combat scenarios. I practiced and refined these techniques, incorporating them into my growing arsenal. My understanding of chakra theory deepened, allowing me to use my abilities more efficiently and effectively.

Upon returning to the village, I joined the hospital and worked under a very capable Kunoichi named Nono Yakushi. Nono was an exceptional doctor known for her remarkable medical skills and her kind-hearted nature. She ran an orphanage, where she cared deeply for the children, providing them with a loving home.

Nono had a serene presence, with calm eyes that conveyed wisdom and compassion. She wore her long, dark hair tied back, and her gentle smile reassured both her patients and the orphans. Her dedication to medicine was unparalleled, and she often went above and beyond to ensure the well-being of everyone under her care.

Nono's teaching methods were thorough and patient. She believed in mastering the basics before advancing to more complex techniques. She taught me first aid and bandaging with meticulous attention to detail. Despite my initial confidence in my chakra control, Nono showed me that the standards for medics were incredibly high. She guided me through rigorous exercises to refine my control, helping me realize the precision required for medical ninjutsu.

Under Nono's mentorship, I made significant improvements in my chakra control. Our bond grew stronger, and I admired her dedication to both her patients and the children at her orphanage. Nono's kindness, expertise, and unwavering commitment to helping others inspired me every day, and I felt privileged to learn from such an extraordinary individual.

One day, I ran into Mizuki, who seemed unusually cheerful. "Hey, Naruto! I heard about your promotion. Quite the jump, huh?" he said with a grin.

"Yeah, it's been a wild ride," I replied, curious about his good mood.

"Speaking of wild rides, I heard you got a favor from the Daimyo. That's huge! Must have come with quite the payday, too," Mizuki said, nudging me playfully.

I laughed, feeling a bit embarrassed. "Yeah, I got a nice bonus. It's been helpful."

Mizuki's eyes sparkled with excitement. "Well, I've got some news too. I've been seeing someone—Tsubaki. She's amazing, Naruto. Smart, kind, and she's a fantastic cook!"

"That's great, Mizuki! I'm happy for you," I said sincerely. "Sounds like you're really hitting it off."

He nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah, we are. Actually, we're planning to go out this weekend. Maybe a picnic by the river. I think it's going to be special."

"That sounds wonderful. Make sure to enjoy every moment," I replied, feeling genuinely pleased for him.

Mizuki leaned in a bit closer, lowering his voice. "By the way, about that favor from the Daimyo... any chance you could put in a good word for me if something comes up? You know, just in case."

I smiled, shaking my head. "Mizuki, you know I can't promise anything like that. But I'll definitely keep you in mind if an opportunity arises."

"Fair enough," he said with a chuckle. "Just thought I'd ask."

As we parted ways, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the support and friendships I had built within the village. Each interaction, each lesson, and each relationship was shaping me into the shinobi I aspired to be. With the knowledge and skills I had gained, I felt ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead, both in the ANBU and beyond.

As I prepared for my new role in the ANBU, I couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and nervousness. The journey ahead was daunting, but with the lessons I had learned and the experiences I had gained, I felt ready to face whatever challenges came my way. The Will of Fire burned brightly within me, and I was determined to make the most of this opportunity.
