Chapter 15: Iryo Ninjutsu Genius Part 2
Yasu, who had already seen how the **Mystical Palm Technique** training happened in the anime, found it strange that he wasn't starting with healing animals. However, he thought Rin's training method was simply different.
He chose to use a small amount of chakra and immediately applied the Mystical Palm Technique to the large fish in an attempt to revive it. From what he understood from Rin, this was a challenging part of the training, so he was prepared to make mistakes.
Since Yasu didn't ask, Rin didn't explain why she had increased the size of the fish. As a result, Obito assumed that Yasu would soon be able to revive the large fish. Motivated by this, Obito gave up on continuing to practice his chakra output control and started using the Mystical Palm Technique on the fish in front of him.
Obito was eager to impress Rin and wanted to revive the fish on his first try. However, after a few seconds, he mismanaged his chakra output, and the fish in front of him ended up getting cooked.
Rin felt relieved that at least Obito hadn't succeeded in reviving the fish on his first attempt. At least she could take some satisfaction in seeing Obito struggle with learning the Mystical Palm Technique.
"Obito, you mismanaged your chakra output, which is why you cooked the fish. You should've kept practicing your chakra output control like you were doing earlier. Without mastering chakra control, you're going to cook every fish," said Rin.
"Let me try again, Rin. Yasu got it on his first try, so I should be able to succeed after a few more attempts," said Obito with determination.
"No, Obito. Focus on improving your chakra output control. It's normal to cook dozens of fish while you're still training. Don't use what happened with Yasu as an example. Like I said before, he's a medical ninjutsu genius. Even I wasn't this skilled when I started," Rin explained.
Obito felt a bit discouraged but understood that it wouldn't help to ignore Rin's advice and keep cooking fish. Since he couldn't easily revive the fish, he decided to return to practicing his chakra output control.
After almost an hour, Yasu finally made a mistake in controlling his chakra output and failed to revive the fish. However, he was quick to notice the issue and stopped before the fish was cooked, allowing him to continue using the same one.
Rin noticed Yasu's failure and felt somewhat relieved. If he had managed to heal the large fish as well, she wouldn't have known what else she could teach him. That way, she could focus entirely on teaching Obito.
Obito still hadn't mastered maintaining a consistent amount of chakra output. Since childhood, he had only trained in basic chakra control, which was sufficient for most situations but not for medical ninjutsu.
The two trained for several hours until Yasu's chakra was completely depleted after making a few more mistakes. He didn't manage to heal the large fish even once, but he also didn't cook it. Yasu felt like he was improving, though it would still take time for him to revive the larger fish.
Obito spent the entire day working on his chakra output control for the **Mystical Palm Technique**. After Rin reassured him that mistakes were normal, Obito realized that training his chakra output control was also an excellent way to increase his overall strength, as it would allow him to conserve more chakra for using additional jutsu.
Since Obito barely used any chakra during his Mystical Palm training, he had plenty left to use in sparring with Yasu. This time, Obito didn't use a clone; instead, he used his full chakra reserves to try and corner Yasu.
Yasu, for his part, optimized his training by not attempting to defeat Obito until all of Obito's chakra was depleted. After all, it was better for Yasu to learn how to effectively fight against someone who could use jutsu. Obito wasn't capable of defeating him with taijutsu alone.
After Obito and Rin left, Yasu continued his taijutsu training until he was completely exhausted. It was an intense regimen that pushed Yasu past his limits every day without injuring his body.
Another week passed, and they continued their medical ninjutsu training along with their other exercises. Yasu still hadn't managed to revive the large fish, but it took him hours to make a mistake, and he felt he was close to succeeding.
Obito had also improved significantly, learning to adjust his chakra control to maintain a constant output. However, he still couldn't revive the smaller fish. At least, he had learned from Yasu's example and stopped accidentally cooking the fish when he made mistakes.
Rin noticed that, thanks to Yasu's influence, Obito was improving much faster than she had expected. She thought that, in less than a month, Obito might be able to revive the small fish and move on to the next phase of the **Mystical Palm Technique** training.
Recognizing Yasu's talent, Rin began teaching him the other techniques that medical ninjas needed to learn. Yasu quickly mastered these, including the **Medical Scalpel**, and read several books on herbs, poisons, surgeries, and the human body that Rin had lent him.
Rin was preparing him for the time when Yasu would be able to revive the large fish consistently. At that point, he would almost be ready to perform surgeries. Normally, shinobi would read and study these materials before mastering the **Mystical Palm Technique**, but Yasu had to do it in reverse.
Yasu surprised Rin with his extensive knowledge of the human body and poisons. Even the academic portion of his training progressed faster than usual, further convincing Rin that he was a prodigy.
Not wanting to be left behind, Obito pushed himself to read all the medical books Rin had brought as well. As Yasu had anticipated, Rin was focusing more of her attention on Obito, guiding him closely. She frequently used the **Mystical Palm Technique** on him and placed her hands over his to demonstrate how to use it correctly.
