Naruto: Starting with Snatching the Mangekyō Sharingan

Chapter 194: Chapter 194: The Approaching Moment

"My control has been..." Orochimaru's expression shifted from shock to grim disbelief.

The moment Senju Tobirama fell under genjutsu, Orochimaru lost command of his Edo Tensei body.

'Her dōjutsu... So this is the power of the Mangekyō Sharingan? Incredible!' Orochimaru's eyes gleamed with an almost fanatical light.

"Orochimaru, your improved Edo Tensei doesn't seem very stable. Just now, it looked like Senju Tobirama was about to break free from your control," Uchiha Hikari remarked, her Sharingan fixed coldly on him.

Under her piercing gaze, Orochimaru felt a chill in his core—the weight of overwhelming power.

With a wry smile, Orochimaru explained, "That's because my modifications to the Edo Tensei technique significantly increase its precision. As a result, the summoned shinobi's abilities align closer to their original strength, giving them some leeway to resist."

Looking at the two of them, Orochimaru added, "Of course, I have other methods to directly control the reanimated shinobi. But doing so erases their self-awareness, making it harder to utilize their full potential."

"So, no technique is without flaws," Hikari mused.

"Orochimaru," Nagato interjected, his Rinnegan fixed on him. "With your current Edo Tensei, how much of their original power can the summoned shinobi exert?"

Orochimaru pondered for a moment. "The technique is still far from perfect, but as it stands, they can perform at about seventy to eighty percent of their original strength."

"Seventy to eighty percent? That's not quite enough," Nagato said, his disappointment evident.

"While the technique itself isn't overly complex to learn, refining it toward perfection is no small task," Orochimaru replied.

Turning to Hikari, he added, "For now, let's have Senju Tobirama place his Flying Thunder God seal on the island where the Three-Tails is set to revive. Otherwise, he won't be able to teleport you there."

Nagato looked at Orochimaru, puzzled.

With a glance at Hikari, Orochimaru smiled and elaborated, "Leader, once Senju Tobirama fell under Hikari's genjutsu, she gained full control over him."

Nagato's eyes widened slightly in surprise. He had only a vague understanding of Hikari's abilities.

"It must be the effect of her dōjutsu," Nagato thought. "Ordinary genjutsu wouldn't achieve this."

"Hikari, I'll leave it to you," Nagato said seriously, turning to her.

"What do I need to do?" she asked.

"Have Tobirama imprint his Flying Thunder God seal onto White Zetsu. While it's not as fast as space-time ninjutsu, White Zetsu's movement speed is still among the best in the world," Nagato explained.

Orochimaru's eyes lit up with interest.

'White Zetsu is even more valuable for research than I initially thought,' he mused.

Following Nagato's instructions, a White Zetsu emerged from the ground beside Tobirama. Without hesitation, Tobirama pressed his hand against White Zetsu, leaving the Flying Thunder God seal on its body.

"Can you teleport both of us at once?" Hikari asked Tobirama.

"Easily. Even at eighty percent of my strength, transporting two people is no problem," Tobirama replied.

"Then all we can do now is wait," Nagato said with a nod.

"Why not go there immediately?" Hikari asked, puzzled.

"Unlike Konoha, we need the Three-Tails to revive," Nagato explained. "The location of its revival has already been exposed, and Uchiha Akira must know about it."

"There are still a few days until the Three-Tails revives. I suspect Uchiha Akira and his team are already lying in wait on the island," Nagato said, his expression grave.

"You're worried they'll kill the Three-Tails as soon as it revives?" Hikari guessed.

"Exactly," Nagato confirmed. "Our goal is to secure the Three-Tails intact, or at the very least, its chakra."

"So, your plan is to teleport directly to the Three-Tails the moment it revives and seal it immediately?" Hikari inquired.

"Something like that. At that point, I'll need you to hold off Konoha's elites temporarily," Nagato said solemnly.

"I'll do my best," Hikari replied with a shrug.

She turned to Orochimaru. "How many more Edo Tensei bodies can you summon? I could use a batch for something important."

"In theory, there's no limit. I've also collected plenty of genetic material from powerful shinobi," Orochimaru replied, glancing at Nagato.

Nagato understood immediately. "What do you need them for, Hikari?" he asked.

"To provide me with unlimited chakra as a backup," Hikari explained.

"Chakra?" Nagato and Orochimaru echoed, confused.

"It's an ability of my dōjutsu. Anyone under my genjutsu can be controlled, and I can extract their chakra at will," Hikari said vaguely.

"I see," Orochimaru said, his eyes gleaming. "In that case, Edo Tensei bodies are indeed the perfect choice for unlimited chakra."

"Orochimaru, I'll leave this task to you. The Three-Tails is crucial to Akatsuki," Nagato said earnestly.

With a raspy chuckle, Orochimaru replied, "As long as there are enough sacrifices, summoning them is no trouble at all."

"Edo Tensei!"

At Orochimaru's command, rows upon rows of coffins emerged from the ground, numbering in the hundreds, even thousands.

...

Meanwhile

As Nagato had suspected, Akira had already arrived at the island with Uchiha Shisui and Uchiha Fugaku.

The island was small, about forty kilometers in diameter. At its center lay a large lake—the revival site of the Three-Tails.

Through Akira's sensory abilities, he could detect a massive chakra gathering at the lake's center, brimming with life force. The rebirth of the Three-Tails was near.

Opening his eyes, Akira turned to Shisui, who whispered, "Akira, should we drive off the Mist shinobi nearby?"

"No, not yet. We can't alert them. Akatsuki spies are surely lurking around, possibly even Nagato and Hikari," Akira replied, shaking his head.

Shisui subtly glanced at the hidden Mist shinobi, then nodded. For now, the bigger picture took precedence.

"Akira, I'm certain Akatsuki knows we'll be here," Fugaku said. "Once the Three-Tails revives, we should kill it immediately. After all, all you need is its chakra."

"Agreed," Akira replied.

To revive the Ten-Tails, a complete Three-Tails wasn't necessary. Even a fragment of its chakra would suffice. Weakening the Ten-Tails in advance would be an added bonus.

If not for his need for the Three-Tails' chakra, Akira would never have allowed its revival in the first place.
