Chapter 63: Chapter 63: When You Take Up Arms, Be Ready to Face Death

Konoha Village

Just as they reached the outskirts of the village, Mirai, Guy, and Duy found themselves surrounded by a group of masked shinobi.

"Uchiha Mirai, leaving the village without permission, are we? You'll need to come with us," the lead shinobi ordered.

"Mirai was only bringing me some weapons. He hasn't betrayed the village!" Might Guy stepped forward, defending Mirai. "Besides... if it weren't for him, we'd all be dead. The supplies we were escorting would have been destroyed by the enemy."

The lead shinobi sneered, dismissing Guy's words. "If you're so close to Uchiha Mirai, then you both can come with us."

At this, the masked shinobi moved in, preparing to attack.

"Who are you, exactly?" Duy stepped in front of Guy, blocking their path. "If you're really from Konoha, then show us your orders. You're demanding we come along, but you haven't even identified yourselves."

The lead shinobi scoffed coldly. "You just need to obey. If you want to become rogue shinobi, by all means, resist."

"Damn it!" Duy and Guy hesitated, unsure of how to handle the masked men's aggression. They weren't from prestigious clans and had never dealt with anything like this before.

The lead shinobi, used to intimidating people, signaled to his subordinates. "Seal their chakra first."

"Yes!"

As the masked shinobi advanced, a calm voice interrupted them. "Whoever you are, I'm giving you one chance—step aside."

The leader drew his weapon, laughing mockingly. "Uchiha Mirai, do you really think you can do whatever you want just because you're strong?"

"Even if the head of the Uchiha clan were here, he'd still have to come with us."

But before he could move, he suddenly found himself immobilized by thick, rusted iron nails.

"Demonic Illusion: Shackling Stakes Technique!"

Thanks to his enhanced mental powers, Mirai's genjutsu was unmatched. With his Mangekyo Sharingan now active, his illusions were nearly inescapable. In an instant, all six masked shinobi fell under his spell.

"Mirai, what are you doing?!" Guy and Duy looked on, horrified, as Mirai drew his blade.

"If you've taken up weapons, be prepared to face death." With a swift motion, Mirai's blade flashed, slicing each of the shinobi's throats.

As the system notifications faded, Mirai flicked the blood off his sword and sheathed it. Duy and Guy stood frozen, speechless.

"Mirai… you killed them. This is bad," Duy stammered, more shaken than he had been even when facing the Seven Ninja Swordsmen. Killing fellow Konoha shinobi meant they'd be branded as traitors for sure.

"I only took out a few suspicious characters. What's the problem?" Mirai hadn't planned to explain himself but, seeing their alarm, he added, "They tried to ambush us outside Konoha without revealing who they were. That's more than enough reason to act."

Besides, Mirai thought, they were clearly Root ninja—loyalists of Danzo. Killing them was no big deal.

Guy and Duy paused, suddenly less alarmed. Mirai's reasoning made sense. If he hadn't been there, they might have walked right into a trap. And the actions of those masked shinobi were indeed suspicious; perhaps they were spies from another village after all.

Watching Guy and Duy's relieved expressions, Mirai shook his head. Sometimes, it wasn't so bad to be a bit naïve.

...

Hokage's Office

After hearing the full account, Hiruzen Sarutobi waved Duy and Guy off.

Kushina had already mentioned Mirai's trip to bring Guy his weapons, so Hiruzen wasn't planning on reprimanding him. His main priority was to keep Mirai happy and willing to fight on Konoha's behalf.

But Uchiha Mirai had done something unprecedented: he'd eliminated the entire Seven Ninja Swordsmen.

The Seven Swordsmen were legends in the shinobi world, the pride of Kirigakure. Now, they were all gone, wiped out in a single confrontation.

Hiruzen wouldn't have been surprised if Mirai had merely defeated them. But killing them all? That was extraordinary. Defeating a powerful ninja was one thing, killing one was an entirely different challenge—especially elite veterans like the Seven Swordsmen.

And Mirai had done it effortlessly.

"Mirai, I must admit, I'm curious. How exactly did you manage to kill all of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen?" Hiruzen asked with a wry smile.

"They were weak. Killing them wasn't difficult." Mirai's tone was matter-of-fact.

Hiruzen's eyebrow twitched. Weak? The Seven Swordsmen?

"Mirai, what I'm asking is for details on how the battle played out."

"One punch each."

Hiruzen almost groaned. This kid has to be joking! One punch each? Why not just claim he's invincible?

Seeing Mirai's dead-serious expression, Hiruzen decided to end this line of questioning before his temper flared.

"Alright, Mirai, enough of that. Now, where are their swords? I've heard each of the Seven Swords has unique powers, and together they make a formidable arsenal. These weapons would be valuable assets for the village."

Mirai took out a scroll, his expression sincere. "Of course. I've sealed them in here. Since the village needs them... let's say each sword goes for twenty million ryō."

Hiruzen blinked, stunned. What?

He's charging for them?
