-------------------------------------------------------------
Yesterday, I went to the hot spring inn and ended up getting beaten up by a group of women, who then reported the incident to the Hokage's office.
The day before, I was caught red-handed trying to steal some adult books from the bookstore.
And the day before that...
The Third Hokage felt utterly exhausted.
Once again, he had to clean up the mess.
It seemed necessary to have a talk with Naruto.
Things couldn't go on like this.
With all the current troubles, the Third Hokage hoped Naruto could stay out of trouble for a while.
As for Naruto getting close to Kazuki, the Third Hokage couldn't deal with that now.
In the restroom, Kazuki looked at himself in the mirror. He picked up a towel and wiped away the blood seeping from his eyes. His attempt to evolve his Sharingan had failed.
Kazuki wondered if it was because he hadn't experienced a strong enough stimulus.
Recently, he felt significant changes in his eyes; his mental strength increased, the power of his genjutsu enhanced, and the consumption of using his Sharingan decreased significantly.
Overusing his three-tomoe Sharingan would severely deplete his ocular power, although it wouldn't make him blind, the aftereffects of exhausting his ocular and mental strength were serious.
Despite the drawbacks, Kazuki's increased ocular and mental power meant longer endurance, greater genjutsu power, and improved perception.
As for his copying ability... better not mention it.
Aside from Kakashi, no Uchiha ninja became famous purely for copying techniques, indirectly showing that the village was heavily supporting Kakashi.
Without the village's help, Kakashi wouldn't have outshone Shisui based on merit alone.
"It's fortunate that I'm an Uchiha. If it were a ninja from another clan, bleeding from the eyes would scare many people."
Kazuki chuckled self-deprecatingly as he wiped the blood from his face.
He felt a bit disappointed that his Sharingan didn't evolve, but he managed to keep a positive mindset. If it evolves, great; if not, steady progress is fine too.
If others can awaken the Mangekyō Sharingan, there's no reason he can't, especially with his cheat ability.
Otherwise, what's the point of having this cheat ability?
As Kazuki returned to his office and sat down, the door was forcefully pushed open.
"Captain."
Entering the office, Kaze handed him an encrypted scroll, a small one meant for transmitting information.
Not curious about where it came from, Kaze asked, "Captain, should we reply?"
"No need."
Kazuki opened the encrypted scroll and signaled Kaze to leave.
"Oh, and don't kill the crow."
Except for Izumi, everyone else in his team didn't get along with Shisui.
The scroll was from Shisui, who typically used crows to send messages.
Kazuki feared his team might kill the crow.
Shisui was a good and selfless person. You could insult him, but you mustn't harm his crows.
Otherwise, he'd get very angry.
If an assassin would go berserk over losing a dog, imagine what a ninja would do over losing his crows.
"Uh..."
Kaze paused, giving his captain an annoyed look. 'Am I that kind of person?'
'Though I dislike the crow's owner, please don't compare me to that idiot Jiro.'
"Hahaha..."
Kazuki laughed as he successfully teased Kaze and then read the scroll's content.
Shisui had been at the Daimyo side for a while and only contacted Kazuki. He reported everything happening there directly to Kazuki, bypassing both the Third Hokage and Fugaku.
The transformation of a qualified worker was going smoothly.
Kazuki believed that once Shisui got used to this working mode, he would gradually distance himself from the Third Hokage.
"Hmph, what a trick."
Kazuki scoffed after reading the content.
The Daimyo was indeed playing his cards well, even trying to poach Shisui.
If I feared you poaching him, would I have sent Shisui there?
"But these conditions are really tempting."
To win Shisui over, the Daimyo even offered marriage proposals.
Unfortunately, he didn't know Shisui was only interested in crows and Itachi. Beautiful women had to step aside.
Even though it wasn't his daughter, just a niece, it showed how much the Daimyo valued Shisui.
Besides reporting the Daimyo's attempts to recruit him, Shisui also mentioned the other trivial matters at the residence.
For example, ninjas recruited by the Daimyo, failing to win him over, started targeting him.
Kill them?
No, he couldn't act, at least not personally.
They were just clowns. No matter what tricks they played, they couldn't touch Shisui.
Kazuki decided to ignore it.
As for reporting to Fugaku... better not!
Fugaku was already overwhelmed with the police department's restructuring, thanks to the elders ganging up on him.
Kazuki was glad he hadn't attended that cursed meeting; otherwise, he might have lashed out and committed insubordination.
Night fell.
Konoha, thriving with commercial development, remained bustling. The commercial district was brightly lit, and the streets were crowded.
In contrast, the Ino-Shika-Cho clan area, unchanged for decades, seemed a bit deserted with a few dim streetlights.
"This is delicious, really delicious."
Already plump like a barrel, with a slicked-back hairstyle and a full beard, Chōza Akimichi kept stuffing meat into his mouth, eating like a ravenous demon.
Sitting across from Chōza, the Third Hokage lost his appetite.
He initially thought the grilled meat smelled good, but Chōza's eating manners scared him off.
"Third Hokage, aren't you eating?"
Seeing the Third Hokage not touching his food, Chōza squinted his almost invisible eyes.
"...."
After a few seconds of silence, the Third Hokage shook his head.
"Good."
With a laugh, Chōza grabbed the meat on the Third Hokage's plate and devoured it, not minding his greasy hands and the sauces.
Enough grilled meat for several adults only half-satisfied Chōza.
"Burp~~~"
After a burp, Chōza regretfully looked at the messy table, wiped his hands with a towel, and asked:
"You came to me about Danzo and the Daimyo, right?"
Though long retired, Chōza still paid attention to major events in the village.
At this troublesome time, the Third Hokage's visit had an obvious purpose: suspecting him.
"Third Hokage, I'm in a difficult position."
The Third Hokage sighed:
"But it's all for the village. If we don't find the traitor, the village will face even worse consequences."
Someone who dared to leak Root's information would stop at nothing.
