As Kazuki said, things had completely quieted down with the Great Elder, and no one had been sent to secretly harm Shimeki. Pressure in the village was increasing as rumors continued to spread. Throughout the Hidden Leaf Village, more and more people were discussing research on Wood Release and human experiments.
After a few days of preparation, Kazuki, having adapted to the use of the Sharingan, began his actions. For Kakashi, controlling Kamui was difficult, but for members of the Uchiha clan, especially those with the Mangekyō Sharingan, it was much easier.
After overcoming the initial discomfort, Kazuki had already mastered the use of Kamui. When Kazuki used to watch Naruto in his previous life, he and many other fans believed that Obito's two eyes had different abilities.
The right eye could phase into the other dimension, while the left eye that Kakashi had could use Kamui as a powerful offensive skill, tearing enemies apart by manipulating the alternate dimension.
It wasn't until Uchiha Madara took the Sharingan and entered the alternate dimension that Kazuki realized the truth.
The whole thing about tearing through space was nonsense; it was simply that Kakashi couldn't fully control that Sharingan.
In fact, in just a few days of testing, Kazuki had already mastered Kamui's techniques. Although he wasn't as overpowering as Uchiha Madara, he could still use it proficiently.
"The night is dark and windy..." Kazuki looked up at the pitch-black night sky. His left eye started spinning, drawing him into a swirl as he entered the alternate dimension.
At the Daimyō's residence, Kakashi, who was on duty, glanced at Shisui, hidden in the shadows. Despite their previous battle, Kakashi didn't blame or resent Shisui, knowing that he was merely following orders. Although he could have pretended not to notice, Kakashi still nodded in Shisui's direction as a form of greeting.
'Does he not hate me?' Shisui was taken aback and stepped out of the shadows. "I didn't expect us to work together, guarding the Daimyō."
"I didn't expect the Uchiha would leave you here either."
After a moment of silence, Kakashi finally spoke, starting a conversation with Shisui.
The two Konoha geniuses, both famed for their exploits during the Third Shinobi World War, stood together for the first time, casually chatting like friends.
Shisui stretched lazily and said with a sigh, "Honestly, I didn't want to stay either, but Kazuki thought Danzo might act recklessly and pose a threat to the Daimyō, so he left me here."
"Danzo, reckless?" Kakashi raised his eyebrow, sinking into silence once more. After a while, he spoke again, "Danzo is certainly not a good person."
Danzo had always had his eye on Kakashi, inviting him to join Root numerous times, but Kakashi had refused every time. Due to Kakashi's status, Danzo couldn't force him either.
Another round of silence followed.
Shisui broke it by bringing up a new topic. "How's your eye? I'm sorry. I didn't want to fight you, but I had no choice due to clan obligations."
Kakashi nodded, though it was unclear whether he was responding to the apology or acknowledging the question.
He lifted his hand to touch the headband covering his eye, tilting his head in thought for a moment before asking, "Is the rejection strong when you're not an Uchiha using the Sharingan?"
'Such a dumb question—didn't he already know the answer?' Shisui was taken aback, turning to look at Kakashi with a new sense of interest. This guy... might not be so bad after all.
"There's definitely rejection. Even for members of the Uchiha, transplanting someone else's eye can cause rejection."
"Hmm, thanks." Kakashi had been feeling that something was wrong with his eye lately, the rejection stronger than before, which was why he had asked.
With Tsunade and Shisui confirming it was just normal rejection, he finally relaxed, feeling assured that his eye hadn't been tampered with.
"No need to thank me. Although, I'd really love to get that Sharingan back." Shisui shrugged.
After that, the two fell into silence again before going their separate ways, continuing their vigil over the Daimyō, one in the open and the other in the shadows.
As for the Daimyō's guards and the ninjas he had hired, neither of them took them seriously. If real danger arose, it was pointless to rely on those people for protection.
"Damn Kazuki!" Sitting in his room, Asuma, still sporting a bruised and swollen face, cursed angrily when he noticed water leaking from his mouth as he drank. Not only had Kazuki beaten him to a pulp, but he had also knocked out several of his teeth, making it difficult for Asuma to speak or drink properly.
His swollen face would heal soon enough, but his missing teeth wouldn't be so easy to fix.
"If I see you again, I swear I'll beat you to death!"
"Bastard!"
Asuma kept cursing, completely unaware of the small vortex forming behind him.
The vortex spun, growing larger, and Kazuki's figure emerged from it, materializing in the room.
What a coincidence—to hear someone cursing him right as he arrived.
"Oh? And how do you plan on beating me?"
"Of course, I'll..."
Hearing someone speak, Asuma instinctively responded, but as soon as the words left his mouth, he realized something was wrong.
This was a single room, and he was the only one in it.
Kakashi, who stayed in the room next door, was out on duty, and the voice that responded sounded familiar.
In an instant, every hair on Asuma's body stood on end as he leapt up in alarm, like a startled rabbit.
"Kazuki! Why are you here? What do you want!?"
Seeing Kazuki standing a few meters away, staring at him with a malicious grin, Asuma panicked.
He had only been talking big, but now that Kazuki was standing in front of him, there was no way he could act tough. Forget fighting; Asuma was more worried that Kazuki might actually kill him.
From the look of things, Kazuki's intentions were definitely not simple.
For him to travel all the way from the Hidden Leaf, sneak in unnoticed, just to come after him? There had to be more to it than just a beating. He's here to kill me!
Asuma felt a chill run down his spine.
"Take a guess at what I plan to do."
Kazuki smiled faintly as he slowly approached Asuma.
Panic-stricken, Asuma grabbed a kunai and backed toward the window.
At that moment, he regretted choosing such an isolated place to stay. If something went wrong, no one would hear anything from this side.
All he could do now was try to break through the window and alert someone.
"Kazuki, I'm warning you, attacking a fellow village ninja is a serious offense! Don't act recklessly. I've already been punished for insulting the Uchiha and fighting Ryoichi."
"That's all in the past now."
Kazuki raised his hand and waved it dismissively. "The Uchiha clan may have its flaws, but they don't go around picking fights for no reason. We've suffered a lot over the years because of certain people, and I'm no exception. But unfortunately for you, I'm a petty person. The way others treat me is how I treat them. And before I deal with him, I need to collect some interest first. You know who I'm talking about, don't you?"
It's my father...
Asuma felt cold sweat break out on his forehead.
