Chapter 142: evil
"It was a gruesome sight; limbs were severed, heads rolled like cabbages, and blood had painted the ground red. The smell of blood was so intoxicating that it permeated the surroundings.
Roars of pain filled the battlefield as people's limbs were severed, kunai and swords pierced their hearts, and fire burned them alive. It was nothing but the first Shinobi War.
In the middle of the battlefield, a black circle appeared, and with a flash of light, two people emerged. They were none other than Naruto and Hinata. She clung to him tightly, and as they appeared, a frustrated sigh escaped Naruto's mouth.
But before he could collect his thoughts, he heard a loud shout, 'Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu!' The fireball rushed toward them, consuming everything in its path. The one who cast the jutsu was a Konoha Shinobi.
Naruto raised his eyebrows and looked at the approaching fireball. With another sigh, they vanished from the battlefield and reappeared in a nearby forest.
.
The Konoha ninja exclaimed loudly, thinking he had killed two enemies. However, in the next instant, a kunai sliced his throat, and his body hit the ground.
The man who killed him disappeared the next moment and went elsewhere to fight.
.
"Another failure, huh?"
"Yes," Naruto nodded.
This was not the first time they found themselves in situations like these. Naruto had been using this method continuously to try and return to his timeline. But every time he used this method, he only traveled back in time. It's not like he didn't modify the jutsu; he had used it many times and improved it from its initial stages. But he didn't know where the problem was.
If this kept happening, he would reach thousands of years in the past.
"It's so frustrating..."
He had never been this frustrated in his life, and every time he used this jutsu, he had to ensure he hadn't messed up the timeline.
Sometimes, he had to correct minor things. Every time something changed, the time string around that person also changed, and due to this, Naruto corrected the time strings to avoid messing up everything.
.
However, the poor boy didn't know that his dear father had fucked the current timeline. The sealed memories were undone, and nobody knew what would happen. His father would try to save him and Kushina at any cost, and this might lead to unexpected outcomes, which could be both good or bad for Naruto.
"So, what now?" Hinata asked him.
"Let me clear my mind," he said as he started to walk aimlessly, pondering how to solve this problem.
Hinata followed him, not saying anything. She knew he would find a solution to their current situation and had no doubt about it.
.
Soon, they heard a loud explosion. Naruto lifted his head in that direction, and his eyes glowed faintly as he saw through space. The sight he witnessed made his lips curl up.
"Interesting... this might improve my mood a little," he said.
Hinata also looked in that direction, her curiosity piqued. She asked, "Are you going to let him die like this?"
Naruto slightly quickened his pace. "Of course, my dear."
Hinata's smile turned into a grin. "As expected, nothing less from you."
The air around them became humid, and the explosion shook the ground below them. Violent chakra was palpable in the surroundings. With a grin, Naruto appeared on a tree trunk, observing the battle on the ground.
"We're not going to save such a heroic man. What a pity," Hinata said, shaking her head in mock disappointment. Her smile contradicted her words, and her tone dripped with sarcasm.
.
Naruto chuckled, well aware of his wife's thoughts.
He looked at the violent chakra of a tailed beast, and to be precise, there were two men using it. Naruto recognized this chakra; it was the chakra of the Nine-Tailed Fox, his friend Kurama.
On the ground, many shinobi lay dead, and many others were attempting to kill a single man. The man had white hair and a Konoha headband on his forehead, but it was different from the usual; it was like stone. The person was none other than the Second Hokage, Tobirama Senju.
The people fighting him were from the Hidden Cloud Village, a team of elites known as the Kinkaku Force. The two brothers using Kurama's chakra led the team. They had been affected by Kurama's chakra when he devoured them, and they, in turn, started consuming Kurama's stomach. After some time, Kurama expelled them from his stomach, and that's how they became jinchuriki without a bijuu.
Naruto watched as Tobirama fought them fiercely, but in the end, they were all S-rank shinobi. Ultimately, he was cornered, and a sword pierced his chest. His breath became heavy as blood trickled from the corner of his mouth, and he closed his eyes.
Kinkaku and Ginkaku returned to their human forms, having used their mini tailed beast forms. They looked at Tobirama and then at their fallen teammates.
Kinkaku clicked his tongue, obviously displeased that many of his comrades had died at the hands of one person. "Let's go."
All the remaining individuals nodded to him and vanished from the scene.
.
Naruto glanced at Kinkaku for a moment, or more accurately, he looked at the weapons Kinkaku was using. It was a fan that had been used by the Sage of Six Paths. Naruto shook his head. These weapons held no meaning for him. He had his lovely Truth-Seeking Orbs, though there were only two left, he was satisfied with them.
"Are you not going to kill them?" Hinata asked curiously as they appeared in front of Tobirama.
Although they were supposed to die, if they didn't die as they were meant to, it would only create mess, and they were important figures in the Fourth Ninja War.
"Let them enjoy their remaining days," Naruto said with a chuckle.
Naruto looked at Tobirama, who was supposed to be dead. "How long are you going to keep pretending?" he said in a playful tone.
Tobirama was an exceptional sensor and master of many jutsu, and faking his death was nothing more than a trick. However, his condition was dire, and he knew he was going to die in just a few minutes if he wasn't treated properly.
"Who are you?" Tobirama asked warily. He understood that he was facing death, but he was slightly relaxed when he saw that Naruto was not attacking him.
"We are nothing but random travelers," Naruto said playfully. He had nothing against the man, but he also had no intention of saving him. If he wanted to save him, he could have healed his injuries within seconds. But Naruto was no saint.
But when Naruto saw Tobirama, his grin widened. "You know, I'm also a fortune teller. Would you like to hear something about your future?" he asked.
Tobirama felt like the boy in front of him was mocking him. He was going to die, so what future could he possibly hold?
Naruto knew that the man had a grudge against Uchihas, so why not have some fun?
"I saw a very interesting future... hmmm, the Uchihas had turned traitors, the same Uchihas that killed your brother," he said with mocking laughter. He knew Tobirama loved the village more than anything.
As soon as Tobirama heard this, his heart sank. He didn't want to believe some random kid spouting nonsense, but he knew Uchihas were never considered trustworthy.
He gained the desire to live again to protect his precious village, but this was futile. In the next second, his heart stopped, only learning after that the Uchihas had turned traitor. He died with regret.
"See you later," Naruto waved his hand as Tobirama finally closed his eyes.
"You were so evil; he died with regret, hehe..." Hinata giggled like an innocent girl.
"Well, what do you expect from me?" he asked curiously.
"Nothing less, husband."
"Hehe, that's my girl. Let's go, hopefully this time we'll succeed," he said. He walked and hugged her, and the next moment, a circle appeared beneath them, and they disappeared from there.
