Naruto Online: The Strongest Player

Chapter 9: Chapter 7: Mission

Chapter 7: Mission

"How missions work are fairly simple." He began.

"We start with D-Rank Missions, which genins would take care of. Their simple requests were made from people around the village, and done fairly quickly.

Following this we have C-Rank and B-Rank missions, which are typically taken care of by highly skilled Genin, but usually Chunin NInja.

Then, we have A-Rank missions that are taken care of by Jounin.

S-rank missions are missions usually personally taken care of by the highest ranking members of the village. Typically these missions are of national safety level. But fear not children since we have not had an S-rank mission in multiple years."

As he said that, I couldn't help but sneer inside of my head. He was clearly lying to us, since the S-rank missions while uncommon do happen every year at the least.

"You will now begin with D-rank Missions, until I deem you skilled enough to partake in higher ranked missions…you can start with this one." He said, as he passed Naido-Sensei a scroll.

"Yes, Hokage-Sama. We will get it done." Naido-Sensei said, as he led us out the room.

As I saw the new mission screen in front of me, I then moved with Naido-Sensei and the others to a location at the edge of the village.

"Your mission is simple. The fruit vendor owns this part of the forest. He didn't have time to harvest apples today, so he commissioned us to do it."

As he said that, he pointed to the top of massive trees.

"How the hell is this a mission made for a Ninja?" Ayumi questioned Naido-Sensei

"As the Hokage explained, these missions are kind of like Errands that the village folk decided to ask Ninjas for convenience sake." Naido sensei elaborated.

"Now, make your way up here." He said as he started to walk up the tree.

"How are we supposed to do that?" Asked Kazuto.

"Simple really. Apply chakra to your soles and run towards the tree." Naido-Sensei told us.

While I knew what he was talking about, the other 2 still didn't seem to understand that much.

"Sigh, it seems I have to recap academy level knowledge."

After that Naido-Sensei explained about what Chakra was and how controlling it would work.

Ayumi and Kaito already knew about Chakra from the Jutsu we performed before, but this was to control it better.

It felt surreal for us to move to an external source of energy which was technically not a part of our body but we got used to it eventually.

I was the first to gain mastery over tree-walking.

I was easily able to do it on my first try. I think coupled with the fact that I currently have a low amount of Chakra, I also had the Senju Bloodline.

Tree-walking wasn't meant to be extremely hard…at least from my understanding. But watching as Kazuto and Ayumi fail constantly, it seems like there is going to be a learning curve for the players for sure.

Anyways, I was able to level up my Chakra Control to Intermediate.

We also learned that the rankings for mastery was: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Proficient and Master.

Right now we were only at the second level, and we had to train to maintain it as our Chakra reserves increased.

After gathering apples for a long time, we eventually completed the mission and were awarded 1000 Ryo each from the commission and the 10 EXP.

I put all 10 points into my Chakra, since I knew I could train my physical body.

I could feel the amount of Chakra I have increased, and a slight bluish aura surrounded me.

It was something probably visible only to players since Naido showed no change in expression, but Kaito and Ayumi did.

Kaito and Ayumi had a slight orange and bluish aura surrounding them. It probably symbolled that they increased their Chakras and body stats evenly.

"Now, train in your Chakra control. I will meet you at the same time tomorrow morning." Naido-Sensei told us, almost dismissing us even though it was only around noon.

The other 2 seemed to have wanted to do something, since they left immediately as they were dismissed.

"Sensei." I called out as he was just sitting on a tree, albeit upside down.

Every Elite Shinobi had a few screws loose. Maybe it's a good thing it seemed as if my sensei didn't have screws to begin with.

"Yes Shikomu." He asked me as he saw me also climb the tree up to him.

"I was wondering if you could teach me some Jutsu? Something that could help me move extremely fast to run and attack my opponents?"

Naido sensei didn't say anything for a second. Then, after thinking about it for a second he said, "Your foundation in Jutsu is not good Shikomu. Me training you in Jutsu won't just help you. So how about this, I will train you in a Jutsu when you can master the academy 3 Jutsu."

I nodded at that. I guess it made sense.

Even in the anime, it was not like the main characters all instantly began training in their Jutsu…this also gave me slight motivation to train harder.

Mastering the three basic academy jutsu — Clone Jutsu, Substitution Jutsu, and Transformation Jutsu — was much easier than I had expected.

With only six hours of pure concentration and some trial and error, I managed to master all of them.

It wasn't just the usual amount of chakra control that made the process quicker, though. I was starting to see how my Senju bloodline was influencing everything I did.

The ease of learning and speed at which I was able to apply chakra techniques was beyond what I would expect for someone of my rank.

But that wasn't all. In my spare time, I started working on another exercise I remembered from the anime: the leaf-sticking method.

By the end of the day, I had leveled up my Chakra Control to Advanced.

The change was so significant, it almost felt like the chakra flowing through me had become more refined and purposeful. I could sense my bloodline influencing the control even more now.

After all this, I decided to take a break and headed to Ichiraku Ramen to catch up with Naruto, like he had asked the day before.

When I arrived, I spotted him instantly, his blond hair sticking out even from a distance. He greeted me with his usual grin. "Yo, Shikomu, you really made it! I'm treating you to ramen today!"

I raised an eyebrow. "You weren't joking about that?"

According to the anime, he was supposed to be broke.

Naruto pulled out a small coupon from his pocket with the words "Future Hokage will pay you back" written on it in messy handwriting.

I stared at the coupon, blinking in disbelief.

"Shikomu, do you understand what it means?" He asked me while tilting his head slightly. "Basically you pay first, and in the future when I am-"

"I get it. Let's go." I spoke to him and he had a happy smile on his face.

I couldn't help but chuckle at the absurdity of it all.

The Blonde bastard was making me pay for his food and was bragging about how he was treating me !

The next morning, I arrived early to meet Naido-Sensei. It was time to take the next step in my training.

When I arrived, Naido-Sensei was already there...or did this man even leave?

He sitting on a low branch of a tree, casually watching me approach. I walked up to him and, without a word, I began performing the jutsu. Clone Jutsu, Substitution Jutsu, and Transformation Jutsu — one after another. ]

Naido-Sensei watched with an expression that seemed to be somewhere between approval and mild amusement. Once I finished, he nodded his head slowly. "Well done, Shikomu."

He reached into his pouch and pulled out a small piece of paper. The familiar shape and texture caught my attention immediately — it was the chakra paper, just like in the anime. I had seen it used before.

"Chakra paper is used to identify a shinobi's chakra nature," Naido-Sensei explained, handing it to me. "You focus your chakra into the paper, and depending on how it reacts, it will reveal your natural affinity. This will help you learn elemental jutsu that align with your chakra nature. It's an important step in your development as a ninja."

I mean, logically speaking I already knew what my elements would be. After all, I had a Wood-Release.

But there were problems with that branch of Ninjutsu.

Not only did I currently not have Wood Release Ninjutsu, I couldn't use it with Pedomaru and Danzo lurking.

I took the paper in my hand and placed my fingers gently on it, focusing my chakra into the thin sheet.

Suddenly, the paper began to react. The top half of it became damp, soaking in moisture like it had been drenched in water. The other half of the paper crumbled and turned to dust, almost like earth falling apart with each passing second.

Naido-Sensei observed the reaction with a raised eyebrow. "Water and Earth... I can work with 2 attributes for sure," he said, more to himself than to me.
