Naruto: One Eye Tenseigan

Chapter 20: Chapter 20: Masters in Motion

The training grounds on the outskirts of Konoha were bathed in the soft, golden light of late afternoon. The air carried the faint scent of pine and freshly churned earth, disturbed by the fierce movements of two legendary shinobi locked in combat.

From his vantage point behind a thick tree trunk, Tomaru watched, his Tenseigan faintly glowing as he analyzed every movement. Might Guy and Kakashi Hatake, two of Konoha's strongest and most contrasting shinobi, were sparring.

Tomaru had known of their rivalry from the anime, but seeing it firsthand was an entirely different experience. The sheer energy radiating from Guy was palpable, like a thunderstorm contained in human form. His movements were wild, a blur of powerful strikes that seemed to come from every angle at once.

Yet, Kakashi was his perfect foil—calm, deliberate, and impossibly precise. Each time Guy launched an attack, Kakashi countered with minimal effort, his body moving like water, flowing seamlessly around the onslaught.

Guy surged forward, his fists a blur as they targeted Kakashi's midsection. Kakashi sidestepped effortlessly, his single visible eye focused and unflinching. He ducked low, narrowly avoiding a spinning kick, and retaliated with a swift jab aimed at Guy's exposed flank.

The jab landed, but Guy didn't falter. Instead, he grinned, his teeth flashing. "Not bad, Kakashi! But can you handle this?"

With a powerful leap, Guy flipped backward, gaining distance. The ground cracked under his landing as he launched himself into a flurry of dynamic kicks. His strikes were so fast they seemed to blur together, the sheer force of his movements whipping the surrounding air into a frenzy.

Kakashi leaned back, narrowly dodging the first kick, then the second. His movements were so economical they seemed almost lazy. But Tomaru could see the truth—Kakashi wasn't wasting a single ounce of energy.

Guy's attacks are relentless, overwhelming, like a storm battering a mountain. But Kakashi... Tomaru's Tenseigan flickered as he observed the rhythm of the fight. Kakashi is unyielding—he reads Guy's movements like a book and counters with perfect timing. It's a battle of chaos against control.

Tomaru crouched lower, his fingers brushing against the bark of the tree as he watched intently. This wasn't just a fight—it was a lesson.

He could feel his heart quicken as he studied their techniques. Guy's movements were unorthodox, unpredictable, and devastating. His sheer physical prowess was unmatched, but it required immense stamina to maintain. Kakashi, on the other hand, was a strategist, relying on quick analysis and precise execution to conserve energy while remaining effective.

"Guy's technique thrives on endurance and brute force, while Kakashi's precision ensures he's always one step ahead," Tomaru thought.

He pulled a small journal from his pouch and flipped it open to a blank page. His handwriting was quick but meticulous as he jotted down notes:

Guy: High stamina, unpredictable attacks, overwhelming force.Kakashi: Minimal movement, exceptional counterattacks, reads opponent's rhythm.

The more Tomaru wrote, the clearer it became to him: combat wasn't just about strength or speed—it was about rhythm, strategy, and adaptability. He had spent so much of his own training focusing on the Tenseigan's powers, but watching this fight reminded him of the importance of mastering the fundamentals, particularly taijutsu.

As the fight continued, Tomaru found himself drawn to the dynamic between the two shinobi. Guy's energy was infectious, his passion for battle evident in every strike and shout of determination.

"Come on, Kakashi! Don't hold back!" Guy roared, delivering a spinning heel kick that Kakashi barely avoided. "The flames of youth demand more than that!"

Kakashi sighed, sidestepping another flurry of punches. "Guy, we've been at this for an hour. Isn't it time to call it a draw?"

"Never!" Guy replied, grinning as he pushed forward with renewed vigor.

Tomaru smirked faintly. Watching them, he could see the bond they shared beneath the surface of their rivalry. Guy's relentless challenges weren't just about proving himself—they were a way of keeping Kakashi grounded, of reminding him that he wasn't alone.

"Guy might be loud and eccentric," Tomaru thought, "but he's probably one of the few people who truly understands Kakashi. Maybe even one of the few people Kakashi allows to get close."

Kakashi's past was one of loss—his father, his teammates, his sensei. All gone. In many ways, he carried the weight of those losses alone. But here, with Guy, there was a sense of camaraderie, of unspoken understanding

Tomaru's Tenseigan flickered as he zoomed in on the fight, slowing the movements in his mind to analyze them more closely. He replayed the sequences of attacks and counters, noting the subtleties in their footwork, the way their weight shifted, and how their breathing remained controlled even under intense pressure.

This is how I'll grow, Tomaru realized. Not by rushing into battles unprepared, but by studying, observing, and adapting. If I can understand the rhythm of combat, I can control it.

He flipped his journal to a new page and began sketching out diagrams of their movements, marking areas where Guy's strikes had opened him up to counters and where Kakashi's precision created opportunities for offense.

As the sparring session reached its climax, Guy pushed forward with a ferocity that left even Kakashi on the defensive. His fists and feet blurred as he launched a final flurry of strikes, each one aimed to break Kakashi's rhythm.

Kakashi backpedaled, his eye narrowing. At the last possible moment, he sidestepped, using Guy's momentum against him. In a single, fluid motion, Kakashi brought his hand up, a kunai glinting in the fading sunlight, and stopped just short of Guy's neck.

The clearing fell silent.

Guy froze, his grin slowly widening. "You're as sharp as ever, my eternal rival!"

Kakashi lowered the kunai, his shoulders relaxing. "And you're as persistent as ever, Guy."

The two men exchanged a brief, knowing look before Kakashi turned away, heading toward the edge of the training ground.

As the dust settled, Tomaru stood, slipping his journal back into his pouch. The fight had been more than just a spectacle—it had been a window into what it meant to be a true shinobi.

Guy's passion, Kakashi's precision—they're two sides of the same coin.

Tomaru clenched his fists, his resolve hardening. He wouldn't rely solely on the Tenseigan. If he wanted to stand among the greats, he needed to build a solid foundation—one rooted in skill, strategy, and adaptability.

As he turned to leave the clearing, the faint glow of his Tenseigan faded, leaving only the quiet determination in his eyes.

The classroom was a symphony of bustling voices, shuffling papers, and the occasional creak of wooden chairs. The golden light of the mid-morning sun spilled through wide windows, casting geometric patterns across the desks. Outside, the faint rustling of leaves mingled with distant bird calls, adding a serene backdrop to the lively energy within.

Iruka Umino stood at the front of the class, his arms crossed and his brow slightly furrowed as he waited for the chatter to settle. His authoritative yet approachable demeanor commanded attention, and one by one, the students quieted.

"All right, listen up!" Iruka said, his voice clear but not overly loud. "Today's lesson is about strategy. You'll be working in teams to complete an assignment that will challenge your ability to think critically and collaborate effectively."

Several students groaned, but Iruka ignored them.

"The task is simple," he continued, pulling a scroll from his pouch and unrolling it. "Your team will create a defense plan for a hypothetical village. You'll need to think about the terrain, the strengths and weaknesses of your assigned shinobi, and how to position your forces to best protect the village from attack."

He paused, letting the weight of the instructions settle. "This is not just about coming up with flashy ideas. I want to see clear, logical strategies that take real-world challenges into account."

Iruka gestured toward a series of maps pinned to the wall, each showing different village layouts. "Each group will receive a map. Use it to plan your defense, and remember: your goal is to keep the village safe while minimizing losses."

He glanced around the room. "Any questions?"

A few hands shot up, and Iruka addressed them quickly before dividing the students into groups.

Tomaru Minakura found himself paired with three familiar faces: Sakura Haruno, Shikamaru Nara, and Naruto Uzumaki. The group settled at a table near the back of the classroom, their assigned map lying flat on the desk.

The map depicted a small, riverside village surrounded by dense forest. A few key landmarks were marked—a main gate, a watchtower, and a bridge spanning the river.

Tomaru glanced at the map, noting its simplicity. The exercise was straightforward enough for genin-level students, but it required careful thought to avoid common pitfalls.

Iruka's voice echoed in his mind: Clear, logical strategies.

Sakura took the initiative almost immediately, leaning over the map with a pencil in hand. "All right," she began, her tone brisk. "Let's start with the obvious. The main gate is the most vulnerable point, so we'll need to reinforce it."

Shikamaru, who had been slouching in his chair, straightened slightly to glance at the map. He gave a small nod but said nothing, his expression unreadable.

Tomaru, sitting quietly at the edge of the group, observed without comment. His eyes flicked from the map to his teammates, his calm demeanor masking a deep focus.

Naruto, however, was unusually silent. Normally, by this point, he would have interrupted Sakura with a loud, attention-seeking declaration—something about taking charge.

Instead, he stared at the map, his brow furrowed in concentration.

"Hey, Sakura," Naruto said suddenly, his voice level. "What if we set up a second line of defense here, near the bridge?" He pointed to a spot on the map with the eraser end of his pencil. "If they get through the main gate, they'll probably try to cross the river. We can block them here and trap them between two forces."

Tomaru blinked, his eyes narrowing slightly as he studied Naruto.

Sakura paused, glancing at the map. "Hmm… that's actually a good point," she admitted, jotting down a note.

Naruto grinned but didn't gloat. He returned his attention to the map, his expression thoughtful.

Tomaru glanced at Shikamaru, whose eyes flicked briefly toward Naruto before returning to the map. Shikamaru's face betrayed nothing, but Tomaru could sense the same question lingering in his mind.

Neither of them spoke.

Sakura continued leading the discussion, jotting down notes and sketching positions on the map. Naruto chimed in occasionally, his suggestions surprisingly measured and logical.

"Good idea," Tomaru said quietly when Naruto proposed positioning sentries in the forest for early detection.

Shikamaru gave a slight nod of approval when Naruto suggested a rotation schedule for guards to prevent fatigue.

Naruto seemed to thrive under this quiet encouragement, his focus sharpening as the plan took shape.

By the time the assignment was nearly complete, the group's map was covered in notes and markings. Their strategy was solid—well-organized and thoughtful, with minimal flaws.

As Naruto leaned back in his chair, stretching with a satisfied grin, Tomaru found himself staring at the map.

The chaotic, scattered energy that usually characterized Naruto was gone. In its place was a calm, focused presence that had helped guide the group to success.

Tomaru's eyes flicked to Shikamaru, who was watching Naruto with the faintest hint of curiosity. Their gazes met briefly, and though neither spoke, the shared question hung between them:

Sakura, oblivious to the tension, gathered the notes and announced she would present the strategy to Iruka. Naruto, meanwhile, started joking about how they had "totally aced it."

Tomaru remained quiet, his mind racing.
