Naruto: Neurolink Transmigration

Chapter 19: Chapter 17:b

At the Konoha Police Station

"Elder Uchiha Setsuna, your grandson, Tadashi, is in the lobby," reported a police officer.

"What are you waiting for? Bring the kid in," Setsuna exhaled a puff of smoke and waited.

"Young master, Elder Setsuna is waiting for you in the chief's office," the man bowed his head. I nodded and walked towards my grandfather's office.

"Gramps! Why'd you call me?"

My grandfather choked on his cigarette smoke because I barged in without knocking, startling him.

"You little brat! Cough... Why didn't you cough... knock first?" He coughed and scolded me while trying to catch his breath.

"Come on, Gramps. So, why'd you call me? Is someone causing trouble on purpose?"

As soon as I said that, my grandfather fell into complete silence, staring at me intently.

"Ehm… So, you already know? Then tell me, who do you think is behind it? Since you seem pretty good at reading situations, you must've realized the trouble you caused yesterday would have consequences, right?"

"I know! But why did you go along with it?" I replied casually, pulling a chair and sitting down. "By the way, the culprit is probably Danzo and his Root operatives..."

"I agreed because you said it in public, you little shit! You think we can just take back our words like we have no pride?" My grandfather glared at me before taking a deep breath.

"Hmmm... Well, that's not the only reason. I agreed yesterday because, honestly, I just don't like the village elders. You've noticed it, right? Ever since Kagami Uchiha..."

Before he could finish his sentence, I cut him off.

"Yeah, yeah, I know, Gramps... Ever since Kagami died, the village has been messing with everything the Uchiha do. Even small issues get blown out of proportion, making us clarify nonsense when it's just part of police work in the first place. I know, I know..." I spoke nonchalantly while grabbing a cigarette from the table and putting it in my mouth.

"Ehmmm... Not bad, my grandson's pretty smart. So, what do you think we should do to stop things from getting worse?" My grandfather asked while casually taking the cigarette from my mouth just as I was about to light it. Right... I forgot my body is still five years old.

"? ... What do you mean by 'not getting worse'? Is it even our problem to fix? We've already compromised so much. Just recently, Kagami's body—with his Mangekyou Sharingan—wasn't even given back to us. Instead, he was buried in the village cemetery, not in our own." I answered calmly, scratching my head and leaning back in my chair.

At the Konoha Memorial Stone, bodies usually aren't really buried there. Typically, clans take their own back and lay them to rest near their ancestral grounds, like the Naka Shrine.

"Hmm, and?"

"Well, a corpse isn't that big of a deal, though I do wonder if his Mangekyou is still intact or not..." I added lazily, resting my head on one hand.

"Anyway, after Kagami, no Uchiha has held a high position in the village anymore. It feels like we're being excluded from Konoha. That's the real issue. Even though we run the police force, we should also be involved in decision-making for the village. Right now, it's as if we have no voice. It wouldn't be surprising if, when the Hokage changes, the only thing we find out is the new face on the mountain."

As soon as I finished speaking, my grandfather remained calm, but… the air in the room suddenly turned cold.

---Host, this cold air is a manifestation of emotions. Unlike on Earth, where emotions can only be felt through atmosphere changes, in the Naruto world, excessive emotions release excess Yin chakra. Though it's not as intense as the First and Second Hokage when they were revived through Edo Tensei during the Fourth Great Ninja War.

I nodded casually before continuing, "By the way, like I said earlier, Gramps, the Uchiha don't need to prove anything to Konoha anymore. It's been four years since we fought and sacrificed so much. In the Second Great Ninja War, the Uchiha held off the Kirigakure front alone. What other clan could do that?" I added with a mocking smile.

After hearing my words, my grandfather, who had been calm, looked me in the eyes—his Sharingan now fully activated with three tomoe.

"Even so, I'm not suggesting a coup or running away! This land belongs to us. If anyone has to leave, that's not us. Seriously, let's not forget why the leader of this village is called the Hokage."

"You really are a smart little bastard… So, what would you do if you were in my position now?" My grandfather looked at me seriously, with a lunatic grin that reminded me of Lloyd Frontera.
