Chapter 9: The Unyielding Will: A Fight for the Future
[In the Land of Demons, where the shrine maiden resides, her attendant, Zaku, is patrolling the temple grounds. He walks up to a guard who's dozing and gently persuades him to return to the dormitory to rest.]
[Facing the rising sun, the figures of four individuals appear atop a cliff not far from the temple.]
"Hurry up, brother!" Yatsu, wearing a face scarf, urged.
"Don't rush," the leader, who had been granted snake-like tentacles by Orochimaru, responded calmly. He extended three tentacles from his body, inserting them into the other three members to strengthen them.
[Unlike the previous mission in the underground palace, this time the three individuals not only greatly enhanced their chakra, but their physical forms also transformed, with special patterns appearing across their bodies.]
"Now that we're ready," the leader said, looking at the temple from a distance. "The chakra signatures are as expected."
"Let's finish this!" Yatsu said in a bloodthirsty tone, but the leader reminded everyone to stay cautious as they headed toward the temple without any cover.
["It seems that the tentacle-like technique can grant different chakra attributes," one of the men remarked.]
["And the effects this time are different. Their bodies have changed as well. It should be possible to achieve different strengthening states based on how the chakra is injected."]
["This jutsu is impressive. No need to worry about chakra nature anymore. Even Chuunin and Genin can become more versatile in combat."]
["But it can't be that easy. This is known as Forbidden Medical Ninjutsu. It can't be as simple as it seems."]
"I can't accept it. I'm not from the Aburame clan! I won't let those tentacles into my body."
"Damn it! Don't try to tarnish the good name of Konoha!"
[Inside the temple, the shrine maiden, Shion, suddenly opened her eyes in response to the sound of bells. Her pupils, once ordinary, now bore beautiful and eerie purple patterns.]
[Lying on her side, sweat beaded on her face as strange, unfamiliar images flashed in her mind. They were the same images of Naruto and the monster battling, displayed earlier on the village's projection screen.]
"What... is... happening?" she murmured.
[No one could explain the vision she had. At that moment, the sound of guards clashing with enemies reached her ears.]
[Ashiho led a team of guards toward the shrine maiden's room, but on the way, he ran into an acquaintance. "Suzuki! Suzuki, wait! Don't go!" he called.]
[Suzuki, understanding the situation, didn't slow down. "Lady Shion predicted it; it's fine. If I must sacrifice my life for the shrine maiden, so be it."]
["Wait... Does that mean the shrine maiden, Shion, has the ability to predict the future?"]
[The others were shocked by the implications. "So, the first vision shown on the screen was her prediction. But can we trust it? Can Naruto really be saved?"]
"From what I know, her predictions are often spot on..."
[They all fell silent in awe.]
["So this future vision screen is the work of the Demon Country's witch?"]
"Impossible. The level of detail in the images shown is too specific. And when the screen first appeared, all the major villages tried to get close, but none succeeded. How could a small country like this possess such a technology?"]
["Let's hold off on making conclusions. We should watch the rest of the images before deciding."]
"Prediction..."
The mention of this word caused everyone in the room to tense up, especially Naruto, whose future had been foretold.
Sakura, sensing the seriousness of the situation, turned to Kakashi. "What do you think, Kakashi-sensei? Could it be true, that the prediction will come true?"
Kakashi furrowed his brow, his gaze distant. "I'm not sure, but we'll look into the intelligence from the last battle with the monsters. For now, don't let it worry you."
With Kakashi's reassurance, the others calmed down.
After a moment of silence, Naruto stood tall with his trademark grin. "Whether it's a prediction or some future vision, I don't believe in that. I'll decide my own future. I will not die before becoming Hokage!"
Hearing this, Kakashi chuckled softly, rubbing Naruto's head. "That's the spirit, Naruto. Your future is in your hands."
Meanwhile, Jiraiya, who had been quietly listening, thought of the Great Toad Sage. Although the Sage was powerful, he didn't believe the Toad Sage could predict the future in such detail like this strange "Tianmu" system.
On Mount Myoboku, Fukasaku and Shima shared similar thoughts. They wanted to consult the Great Toad Sage immediately, but the old toad was deeply asleep and impossible to wake.
[Back at the temple, the four attackers swiftly eliminated all guards outside. Ashiho's group arrived at the shrine maiden's room just as the four intruders broke through the ceiling and rushed in.]
[As the intruders made their move, Ashiho shouted, "We're coming in! Lady Shion, we need to take shelter immediately!"]
[But it was too late. The ceiling shattered, and the four attackers were already in the room.]
[Yoshita, the leader, quickly dispatched the guards and turned his attention to the shrine maiden kneeling on the bed. "Got her!"]
[Before the shrine maiden could react, several kunai were launched toward her. Ashiho, knocked to the ground, could only shout her name in desperation.]
[Fortunately, Suzuki, who had been knocked down earlier, managed to shield Shion, taking the kunai in his back. "Ashiho... Lady Shion is in your hands now..." he said weakly.]
[Shion's eyes remained cold and lifeless, her expression unchanging as she stared ahead, seemingly unaffected by the danger.]
[The attackers, undeterred, advanced toward their target. "The shrine maiden's life will be taken by us."]
[Just then, a familiar voice rang out. "Not so fast!" The four attackers turned around to see Naruto, who had appeared just in time to protect Shion. He rushed past them and leaped into the room, though his landing was less than graceful as he tripped over a bamboo curtain.]
["I wanted to look cool..." Naruto muttered, embarrassed.]
[The attackers couldn't help but laugh. "This is Jiraiya's apprentice? He's certainly learned more than just ninja skills, huh?"]
[Jiraiya scratched his head, exasperated. "This is all for the mission!"]
[Naruto, with his usual stubbornness, retorted, "That's not it! It was just... the enemy distracted me, and I slipped!"]
