Afterward, Kagetsu conducted more tests with Anko.

Through these tests, they confirmed that apart from the abilities she had already shown, Anko was still affected by Shisui's Fire Release jutsu. 

Anko's kekkei genkai allows her to control the Fire Release jutsu she unleashes with her own chakra, but she must still evade any Fire Release techniques used by others against her. 

However, compared to an average shinobi, she has higher resistance to Fire Release techniques. Simply put, by channeling her chakra when necessary, she can better withstand high temperatures, minimizing the extent and severity of burns.

"When will the next phase of modifications start?" Anko, her chakra almost depleted from testing, clung to Kagetsu's arm, still pressing eagerly.

The rush of newfound power made her feel oddly satisfied. She was already planning to reward herself tonight with a feast of her favorite dango and red bean soup.

"Don't be in such a hurry. We need to make some adjustments to the plan," Kagetsu replied, shaking his head. He understood her eagerness to push forward, but plans often had to adapt.

He still needed to resample and record data on Anko's abilities and physique, using the latest data to recalibrate the next experimental phase.

"Alright then…" Disappointed, Anko's face fell, a clear sign of her lowered spirits.

"During this adjustment phase, you can also take the time to familiarize yourself with and refine your kekkei genkai. For a shinobi with a kekkei genkai, there's a natural path to follow.

"As long as you continue to deepen your understanding of your kekkei genkai and push its potential to the limit, you can rise to be a powerful, well-known shinobi in the ninja world.

"Moreover, the next experiment involves certain risks, so you'll need to undergo some mental conditioning," Kagetsu explained, gently freeing his arm from Anko's loosened grip.

"Mental conditioning?" Anko frowned, puzzled.

"I've found a Jonin from the Kurama clan and awakened his kekkei genkai," Kagetsu informed her. While some changes to the plan are necessary, we won't be scrapping it altogether.

"The aspects of the plan involving mental and physical conditioning must still proceed. The Kurama clan's genjutsu, which manipulates the five senses, is extremely effective.

"Of course, this is wartime, so the Kurama clan's Jonin will have mission duties and be busy. When he isn't available, Shisui can assist with genjutsu treatment as well.

"After all, Uchiha genjutsu is on par with the Kurama clan's kekkei genkai."

"Since the Uchiha's genjutsu isn't any worse than the Kurama clan's illusion Kekkei Genkai, why can't we just let Shisui handle this?" Anko questioned with a bit of a huff.

"Shisui is… too gentle," Kagetsu replied bluntly. "As an enemy, he wouldn't hesitate. But as an ally…" 

He left his thought unfinished, but both Shisui and Anko understood what he meant.

"I'm fine with it," Shisui raised his hand slightly.

"The next phase of the experiment might be a bit extreme," Kagetsu warned. "There are risks involved in the preparation as well. I trust that Shisui could use genjutsu and send you to the hospital ward, Anko, but doing it repeatedly would be torture for both of you." Kagetsu's tone remained calm.

Anko, however, looked somewhat shaken by his words.

"Repeatedly… sent to the hospital?" She shivered, as though recalling something unsettling.

"You'll need to endure it," Kagetsu said seriously. "You'll need a strong will and high pain tolerance. Otherwise, I can't guarantee the success rate of the next phase of modification."

"What exactly will the experiment's results be?" Anko gritted her teeth, not afraid of pain but aware that Kagetsu rarely emphasized something unless the risks were significant.

"It would let your body heal wounds rapidly on its own, almost like having medical ninjutsu built-in," Kagetsu explained after a moment's thought.

"That powerful?" Shisui and Anko were both stunned, and a smile of excitement spread across Anko's face.

Why was the mortality rate for ninjas so high? 

Apart from those who died immediately in battle, many others perished due to the lack of timely treatment for their injuries. In combat, any injury could weaken a ninja, which in turn could lead to a chain reaction of disastrous consequences.

But if someone had a self-healing ability? 

At the very least, their chances of survival would skyrocket. A clever ninja could even use this trait to trap a strong opponent, gaining a major advantage if the enemy was unaware of this ability.

"Your technologies can already achieve this?" Anko couldn't help but imagine the possibilities with excitement.

As for the risk of failure?

Her mind brushed past that thought without lingering.

"It's one of the results from our study of the First Hokage's cells," Kagetsu explained, holding up a finger. "It can heal a person's wounds and also increase their strength and endurance. Orochimaru-sensei and I have named it *High-Speed Regeneration*."

"Similar to Lady Tsunade's S-rank forbidden technique, Creation Rebirth. Of course, one is a forbidden technique, while the other is merely an ability."

Pausing, Kagetsu glanced at the slightly confused Anko and the thoughtful Shisui, then continued, "Lady Tsunade once said that a successful Creation Rebirth can regenerate and restore both body tissues and organs.

"In other words, while the technique is active, no matter how severe the injuries she suffers, she can heal completely, maintaining her full combat strength.

"High-speed regeneration can't do that yet. It only heals wounds on the body, like the Mystical Palm Technique. But if it's a fatal injury, the speed and effectiveness of healing will be greatly reduced.

"Also, this ability consumes a massive amount of chakra. The larger and more severe the wound, the faster and greater the chakra consumption.

"Don't think this makes you invincible."

Anko nodded firmly in understanding.

"Is this modification experiment very risky?" Shisui asked, a bit worried. To him, the more powerful the gain was, the greater its hidden dangers.

Take the Mangekyo, for example!

The Mangekyo Sharingan's power is indeed terrifying, but it comes with a major drawback: the more it's used, the faster the user goes blind.

Especially when using its special ocular techniques, both mental and physical stress are intense. The strain on the optic nerves is obvious and direct.

Shisui, who had reviewed clan records on the Mangekyo, knew well that, aside from Madara Uchiha, everyone who had unlocked the Mangekyo eventually went blind.

That was the price of wielding such powerful eyes.
