Chapter 5: Chapter 5: Temporary Team-Up

Chapter 5: Temporary Team-Up

Uchiha Dali's final strike not only eliminated the last remaining enemy but also unexpectedly allowed him to fully grasp the art of kunai throwing—achieving perfect accuracy.

As long as the target was within his line of sight, no matter the distance, he could hit it precisely.

Additionally, his throwing technique had been refined, enabling him to use minimal effort while delivering the most powerful kunai attacks.

This move shouldn't be underestimated.

If used strategically, it could even serve as an unexpected killing blow.

Uchiha Dali was quite satisfied with this newfound skill.

He turned around nonchalantly as a few Konoha Chūnin guards approached him.

During the intense battle earlier, his sole focus had been on eliminating threats, so he hadn't noticed anything unusual.

Now that the adrenaline was fading and the enemy was no longer a threat, Uchiha Dali suddenly felt a wave of pain coursing through his body once again.

His wounds, which had yet to fully heal, were now reopening and bleeding.

Enduring the pain, he furrowed his brows slightly and looked at the young female ninja standing before him.

At the same time, she lifted her head and met his gaze.

"You're with the medical unit, right?"

"I remember we left you in the forest earlier because your injuries seemed beyond saving… But now…"

The female ninja, who appeared to be in her early twenties, stared into Uchiha Dali's eyes, her expression filled with surprise and confusion.

"Ah, yeah, I got a little hurt."

"Help me bandage up."

Uchiha Dali replied with a carefree smile—then suddenly, his vision went black, and he collapsed onto her.

When he regained consciousness, the sky had already darkened.

They were still in the forest.

Judging by the surroundings, this wasn't the same battlefield where they had fought against the Kirigakure pursuers earlier.

However, it was clear they hadn't left the war zone.

The lingering scent of gunpowder and blood in the air, along with the residual traces of various elemental ninjutsu clashes, all indicated one thing—this was still an active battlefield.

Curious, Uchiha Dali turned his head to look at the Konoha guards sitting around a campfire.

"You're awake?"

The female ninja with striking features glanced over at him, her bright eyes carrying a trace of curiosity.

Another male ninja chimed in, "Based on your injuries, you should have received further treatment from a medical-nin or been transported back to the village."

"But unfortunately, all the medical-nin we were escorting have been killed. We have no way to contact your original team, so we had no choice but to keep you here."

As he spoke, the female ninja stood up, grabbed a roasted wild chicken, and handed it to Uchiha Dali.

She added, "We've received new orders from the higher-ups. We must remain on the battlefield to counter Kirigakure's forces and prevent them from invading our borders."

"You've recovered quickly. Since you're in decent condition, why don't you temporarily team up with us? We'll continue fighting until we either find your original team or receive new orders to retreat. For now, just eat something first…"

From this brief exchange, Uchiha Dali quickly pieced together the situation.

The medical unit, originally tasked with battlefield support and evacuating the wounded, had been ambushed and scattered by Kirigakure's forces.

Many had been killed or severely injured.

At this point, forget rescuing others—they could barely protect themselves.

Uchiha Dali had nothing to say about this.

Such was the cruelty of war. Targeting healers first was a standard tactic in any ninja confrontation.

"But… have my injuries really healed this fast?"

He muttered to himself while instinctively touching his wounds.

They had indeed scabbed over.

His body still ached, but there was no sign of infection or further deterioration.

"In that case, there's no need to return to Konoha…"

Uchiha Dali thought to himself.

Previously, he had planned to head back to the village mainly due to his injuries.

But now that his body was stable, there was no need to stick to that plan.

While munching on the roasted chicken, he turned to the female ninja and asked, "Your eyes are beautiful. What's your name?"

The female ninja, who had just turned to return to the fire, was momentarily stunned.

She looked back at Uchiha Dali, surprise flashing briefly in her eyes before she answered, "My name is Uzuki Sen."

"Uzuki Sen?"

Uchiha Dali mentally repeated her name, feeling the urge to ask if she was related to Uzuki Yugao.

But in the end, he held back.

At that moment, Uzuki Sen introduced the other ninja to him.

"He's Sarutobi Shio, this is Hyūga Kōji, and he is…"

She glanced at the man lying on the ground nearby, his life clearly slipping away, and her gaze darkened slightly.

"…our captain, Aoyama Shinsuke."

Uchiha Dali recalled that the man had fought fiercely earlier—he seemed to specialize in taijutsu.

Back then, Aoyama Shinsuke had already been wounded while battling Kirigakure's ninjas.

He hadn't expected that after just one nap, the guy would be dead.

"The battlefield is truly merciless. So, what's our next move?"

Having devoured the entire roasted chicken, Uchiha Dali showed no sign of restraint.

He casually walked to the campfire, picked up the remaining half of another roasted chicken, and started eating again.

Hyūga Kōji was slightly taken aback by his unreserved behavior but remained silent, merely responding, "We're only resting and eating briefly. Soon, we'll be heading to the frontlines for support."

"What he means is, we were waiting for you to wake up."

Sarutobi Shio interjected, his tone blunt.

It was clear that he wasn't particularly fond of Uchiha Dali.

Unlike Uzuki Sen and Hyūga Kōji, his attitude was notably colder.

Uchiha Dali finished his food in a few quick bites, then glanced at Sarutobi Shio with a meaningful expression before tossing the bones right in front of him.

Without waiting for a reaction, he turned away and activated his sensory abilities, scanning the surroundings.

Uzuki Sen, Hyūga Kōji, and Sarutobi Shio exchanged glances, each of their faces showing a hint of surprise.

They didn't voice their thoughts, instead focusing their attention on Uchiha Dali's seemingly odd behavior.

At that moment, Uchiha Dali began walking straight toward the left-front direction.
