Chapter 6: The Training Never Ends
Kabuto walked in, early in the morning, to see two Teriyakis studying earnestly on the desk.
"Huh? A clone? But it seems a lot more real."
He walked down, and then anylased it closer, not interrupting Teriyaki's studies.
"Ah. I see. He taught you the Snake clone technique, Hebi Bunshin no Jutsu."
Teriyaki nodded, the snake clone next to him was so life-like it was frightening. He had done some experimenting, when a snake clone died the information it gathered was sent back to him. Thus why he had felt the pain when Orochimaru had stabbed his snake clone before.
It wasn't over, Teriyaki still had to study:
An offensive jutsu (e.g fire ball jutsu)
Basic chakra flow exercises, but always twisted into something more biological — like forcing chakra through my saliva, sweat, or even into Onigiri directly.
He also had to spend some time working on his reflexes in the trap room.
Today's training went as expected, he immideatly failed the trap room. It was strange, Teriyaki realized he would need to genuinely become as fast as a Jonin if he wanted to survive in there for a full minute.
The only thing that had changed was he had gotten a little more used to the pain, Teriyaki sent his snake clone in, it was nowhere as near as complicated as Orochimaru's, only capable of moving around stubbornly by his will and doing minute tasks.
It was quickly cut down by kunais and shurikens, feeling the pain and the loss of flesh and chakra, Teriyaki groaned out loud.
"At least I learnt the Snake Clone jutsu, but it's not enough. I'm still unsure of how I grasped it so fast."
"Who knows, we shouldn't dwell too much on this topic." Kabuto stated. "I'll have to leave on a mission soon, so it'll be just you here. Anything you want me to teach you before I go?"
"Yes." Teriyaki said, pleadingly. "I have no idea how to transfer my chakra through saliva. It seems impossible. Please Kabuto, I'm completely lost.
Unable to ignore the almost crying child before him, Kabuto decided to spend his last few hours at the lair teaching Teriyaki.
"Fine, I'll give you the first steps to learning it, then the rest is up to you. First you must know transferring Chakra like this is done because it is more efficient and it is more versatile, this way you can transfer chakra even if you are tied up let's say."
Kabuto brought him to Onigiri's room. Teriyaki had rarely visited Onigiri, because he hadn't even gotten the summoning jutsu down yet. He was too focused on Orochimaru's other goals for him.
His gaze was fixed on the sleek, serpent-like body of Onigiri, who was curled in front of him, resting in the corner of the lab. A regular snake, modified to be monstrous and slightly more intelligent, that was the case of Onigiri.
Teriyaki shifted uncomfortably on the floor, his muscles aching from hours of previous training. He wiped the sweat from his brow, but the glistening beads of moisture on his skin reminded him of how Kabuto had taught him to think differently about chakra flow. Chakra was everywhere an omnipresent energy, in his body and under his will.
"Focus, Teriyaki," Kabuto's voice broke through the silence, calm and deliberate. He stood a few feet away, observing Teriyaki with keen eyes. The gleam on his glasses hid his eyes away. "You're learning to use your chakra in ways most shinobi never even consider. We'll start with simple transference through your saliva. It's not just about controlling the flow—it's about guiding it into Onigiri's biology. Making it as efficient as possible."
Teriyaki nodded, trying to steady his breathing. Onigiri was looking up at him, its red eyes gleaming, like it was waiting for something. The snake had become more than just a pet—it was a tool, a creation of Orochimaru's that had been designed to respond to Teriyaki's chakra positively no matter what.
"Start by exhaling," Kabuto instructed. "As you exhale, imagine your chakra moving through your body. Every part of you, every cell, carries chakra in it. You're going to guide that flow into your saliva, and then, when you're ready, pass it into Onigiri."
Teriyaki tried to follow the instructions. He took a deep breath, closing his eyes. He had practiced chakra control many times before, though it was still a challenge at this body's young age. His experience with chakra was still small. But Kabuto kept reminded him of one key thing: patience.
The air was silent with focus as Teriyaki slowly drew a breath in through his nose. His body felt like it was a vessel—a conduit—meant to carry chakra. He felt the faint warmth of it spreading through his system as he exhaled.
"Good," Kabuto said softly. "Now, use that breath to direct chakra into your mouth. Focus on the saliva—the fluid of your body. The flow of chakra should move through it like an invisible stream."
Teriyaki's mouth felt dry at first, his tongue thick as he tried to concentrate. But soon, he felt a warmth gathering at the back of his throat. It wasn't chakra that he could see, but he could feel it—an energy, fluid and alive. He pushed it through the tiny channels in his mouth, through his saliva, the way Kabuto had demonstrated earlier with his own chakra.
"Now, open your mouth and let it flow," Kabuto instructed. "Let the chakra leave your body through the saliva and pass to Onigiri. It's a simple transference—no force, no dramatic movement, don't force it, let it feel natural."
Teriyaki opened his mouth slightly and focused. He could feel the warmth of chakra running through his saliva, as though it was being guided by an invisible hand. As he focused on Onigiri, the snake's red eyes met his gaze. Teriyaki extended his hand toward Onigiri, his fingers trembling slightly, and then, without thinking, let the chakra flow from his body and into the serpent.
Onigiri shifted. The slight hiss from the snake's throat was barely audible, but Teriyaki could feel it—Onigiri had accepted the chakra, allowed it to settle in its body. The snake's muscles rippled, and for a moment, Teriyaki swore he could feel Onigiri's chakra, faint and delicate, pulsating in rhythm with his own.
"Well done," Kabuto said, his voice quiet but approving. "You're starting to understand the transference. Now, let's make it more complex."
Teriyaki blinked, his throat dry from the concentration, but he nodded eagerly. He had done it. He had actually succeeded. But now, Kabuto wanted to make it more complex. Teriyaki wasn't sure he was ready.
"Next, you will guide chakra into the sweat glands of your body," Kabuto continued, showing no sign of stopping. "This will help you understand how chakra can be transferred through more subtle, less obvious means. It's not just about basic chakra control, it's about perfect precision."
Kabuto's eyes narrowed slightly. "There's a reason Orochimaru focuses so heavily on biology. He understands that chakra is not just something that exists within you—it's in everything. The skin, the organs, the cells. Even your sweat contains chakra. You can use that to manipulate the flow even further."
Teriyaki raised an eyebrow, curious. Sweat? How was that possible? Saliva came from his system, but sweat seemed to just be a natural fluid that ran down the skin.
Kabuto seemed to read his thoughts. "When you sweat, it's a release of toxins, but it's also a release of energy. Chakra. You're going to focus your chakra into that sweat, and let it spill out through your skin. Then, guide that chakra towards Onigiri."
Teriyaki wiped his brow, focusing on the beads of sweat already forming on his skin. Slowly, he closed his eyes again and relaxed his body. This time, he focused on the chakra building inside him, feeling the warmth of it accumulate in his body. He exhaled softly, and this time, he felt the chakra spill out of him in a gentle flow, seeping through his pores as sweat.
With delicate focus, he channeled the chakra from his sweat, pushing it towards Onigiri. The snake stirred slightly as it absorbed the chakra, and Teriyaki felt it respond again, like a ripple in the air between them.
"Good," Kabuto said with a nod. "You're understanding the concept. You're learning to use the biological systems of your body as conduits for chakra. Saliva, sweat—it's all the same. You guide it, focus it, and direct it where you need it to go."
Teriyaki nodded, feeling the subtle hum of chakra in the air around him.. The snake's movements were smoother now, more fluid, as though it were aware of the chakra coursing through it.
"Now, Teriyaki," Kabuto's voice broke the silence again. "You're starting to see the potential of biological chakra manipulation."
Teriyaki swallowed, excitement building in his chest. For some strange reason, whenever someone taught him something personally, he felt like he learnt it a hundred times faster.
It felt like, this body was so much more proficient if someone else lit up the path for him.
As Onigiri slithered closer, the connection between them grew more profound. Teriyaki was ready for the day he learnt summoning jutsu, so he could fight with Onigiri by his side.
Now he had 2 of the 3 chakra tasks learnt. The last one would just be the most troublesome one, an offensive jutsu.
He didn't even know what elements he was suited for, tomorrow he would give this task his all.
