Naruto's Entrance Test

Opening the door, Naruto saw a ninja standing outside, wearing a snug-fitting flak jacket, small round glasses, and a turban. It was Ebisu.

"Come with me. I'll take you to the ninja academy entrance exam," Ebisu said indifferently.

He had always looked down on Naruto, the so-called "Nine-Tails demon fox brat." Even before Naruto had transmigrated here in This World, he'd been a troublemaker.

And now? Ever since arriving in this timeline, Naruto spent most of his time lounging at home like a happy, useless bum.

The village provided him with a monthly stipend for being an orphan, and he took it for granted.

To Ebisu, he was nothing but a parasite, a moth sucking the life out of the village.

"Pfft—"

Naruto burst out laughing. He couldn't help it. Every time he saw Ebisu's tiny glasses, he had the uncontrollable urge to laugh.

Watching Naruto in his past life had already made him find this guy hilarious, but seeing him up close? Even funnier.

Ebisu scowled. "What are you laughing at?"

Naruto covered his mouth, trying to hold back. "Nothing. I just suddenly thought of something happy."

Ebisu's scowl deepened.

"My wife gave birth today," Naruto added with a completely straight face. "I'm happy."

Ebisu blinked. "...How old are you? And you already have a wife?"

Naruto waved dismissively. "Oh, my bad, I misspoke. My friend's wife gave birth." He struggled to contain his grin. "And don't worry, I wasn't laughing at your glasses. You should know, I don't usually laugh."

Unless I can't help it, Naruto thought to himself.

Ebisu scoffed, turning away. "Tch. Just keep up. You still have an entrance exam to take. And don't think I'll go easy on you and I'll beat you up!"

Naruto followed behind, still suppressing his laughter.

Ninja Academy

At the entrance of the ninja academy, a group of children had already gathered, waiting for their turn to take the test.

"Well, since I can't avoid this, I might as well go all out," Naruto muttered to himself, rubbing his chin. "I, Naruto, will definitely become Hokage man! Hehehe."

Ebisu glanced at him with disdain. "You? Becoming Hokage? You're nothing but a lazy, good-for-nothing brat who sleeps all day. You should be ashamed just for saying that."

Naruto rolled his eyes. "Tch. What do little brats like you know? You wouldn't understand the depth of my words."

Ebisu raised an eyebrow. "What's so deep about saying you want to be Hokage?"

Naruto smirked. "I didn't just say I want to be Hokage." He placed his hands on his hips proudly. "I said I want to be Hokage's man."

Ebisu froze. His face darkened instantly. "…What the hell does that even mean?"

Naruto shrugged, completely unfazed. "Too young. You wouldn't get it."

Ebisu clenched his fists but decided against wasting more words. "Since you're here, it's up to the instructors now." Without another word, he turned and left, as if being seen with Naruto any longer would be a disgrace.

Naruto snorted. What a joke.

Just then, two figures emerged from a nearby street—one tall and composed, the other shorter with an attitude. They were both dressed in Uchiha clan attire.

It was Sasuke and his older brother, Itachi Uchiha.

Despite only being twelve years old, Itachi already looked world-weary. His sharp eyes were lined with premature creases, giving him the appearance of someone much older.

The moment they appeared, whispers spread through the waiting students.

"Look, it's the Uchiha clan."

"I heard my uncle's friend got beaten up by the Uchiha police force for just spitting on the street."

"Really? I also heard they go around shaking down shopkeepers for protection money!"

"They're terrifying..."

"Yes They are"

Naruto frowned. Damn. The tension between the Uchiha and the village is worse than I thought.

Ever since Shisui had disappeared, the Uchiha had grown more and more arrogant. They still carried themselves as if they were the true founders of Konoha, acting superior to everyone else.

Their unchecked pride, combined with Danzo's scheming and the Third Hokage's tolerance, had only worsened the already fragile situation.

Naruto stepped forward to greet the Uchiha brothers.

"Yo, Second Lead! You here for the entrance test too?"

Sasuke's response was immediate—he threw a kunai straight at Naruto.

"How many times do I have to tell you?! Don't call me that!"

Naruto tilted his head at the last second, letting the kunai whistle past him. "Damn, so aggressive. I was just saying hello, bro."

Itachi, unfazed, gave Naruto a polite smile. "Good morning, Naruto. Perhaps I'll have to trouble you to look after my hotheaded little brother."

Naruto grinned. "Don't worry, leave him to me. I'll make sure he stays in line."

Sasuke bristled. "Hmph! Like I need you looking after me! I'd rather die than be disciplined by an idiot like you!"

Naruto chuckled. "Relax, Second Lead, your brother and I are friends, after all."

"When the hell did my brother become friends with you, dumbass?" Sasuke scoffed, turning away.

Naruto shrugged at Itachi before following after him.

As they neared the school gates, Naruto smirked. "Yo, Sasuke, you ready for the test?"

"Get lost! I don't need your concern."

"Come on, don't be like that. We always go head-to-head."

"We do not," Sasuke snapped. "My brother told me all you do is sleep in bed all day."

"Hey now, I was just taking it easy," Naruto said smugly. "I didn't want to crush your confidence."

Sasuke huffed. "Tch. You 'take it easy' every day."

Naruto clapped him on the shoulder. "It's called strategy, my guy. I'm just conserving energy."

Sasuke rolled his eyes. "More like being a lazy dumbass."

"Second Lea—"

"STOP CALLING ME THAT!"

As they continued their banter, Naruto couldn't help but grin.

Yeah, things in this timeline were different. But some things—like annoying the hell out of Sasuke—never got old.
