Naruto: Hatake's No Misfortune

Chapter 18: Rush to the Front Line

They had just sold out this batch of arms, and news of the war came the next day.

Kumogakure launched a surprise attack on Sunagakure.

Many Konoha civilians were relieved that the target of the attack was not them, but only the ninjas understood the real situation. With the Third Kazekage of Sunagakure missing and a large number of ninjas out searching for him, the village was left vulnerable and leaderless.

"That's not good news," Muzan murmured.

The Third Ninja War was following its original course without much deviation. Kumogakure, a powerful ninja village second only to Konoha, was stronger in some aspects. They respected strength, and the Third Raikage, known as the strongest spear and the strongest shield, maintained order and prevented internal trouble within Kumogakure.

Anko swallowed nervously as she read the latest announcement instructing civilians not to go out unnecessarily. ANBU ninjas were seen jumping between buildings, gathering in a specific direction.

"Are we going to the battlefield?" Anko asked, her voice trembling slightly.

"Hmph, your brother has already made a name for himself in all the major ninja villages as the youngest genius in Konoha. Aren't you jealous as his older brother?" she teased.

Muzan shook his head slightly, not rising to Anko's bait. He was deep in thought, considering the implications of Kakashi's genius and his bond with Obito, which likely brought them to Uchiha Madara's attention. As one of the driving forces behind the Third Ninja War, Madara's involvement was dangerous, and Muzan needed to devise a plan to handle it.

"Hey, have you been hit by Kakashi's success? This isn't like you. On the battlefield, you'll definitely be the most impressive guy!" Anko said, trying to cheer him up by stuffing a meatball into his mouth. Mari, standing beside them, also tried to lift Muzan's spirits.

Muzan almost choked on the unexpected mouthful. "On the battlefield, the more talented someone is, the easier they become a target. I'm just worried about Kakashi's safety. After all, he's my brother."

"Don't worry, Minato-sensei is very strong. There won't be any problems," Mari reassured him.

Muzan knew they didn't understand the true scale of the threats hidden behind the war. Uchiha Madara, the rapidly developing Akatsuki organization, and the leaders of the major ninja villages all posed significant dangers.

"Instead of worrying about Kakashi, we should focus on the Hokage's orders. We don't know where we'll be assigned," Muzan said, shifting the conversation.

Anko was most worried about being assigned to the desert, which would be harsh on her skin. "Most likely, we'll be sent to the area near Kumogakure. Be prepared to face those lunatics."

Raikage was a hardliner comparable to Danzo and had always advocated invading other ninja villages. The strength of his village only fueled his ambitions.

As expected, an ANBU operative soon arrived with the Hokage's transfer order, instructing Muzan's team to join the main force and head to the border area of the Land of Lightning.

"Let's go, let's set off with the main army," Muzan said.

Upon arrival, many ninjas had already gathered outside the village, including some of their classmates. They were assigned to an elite jounin from the Aburame clan and began their journey to the border area of the Land of Lightning to receive orders from Sakumo.

"Sakumo's leadership is excellent. During the Second Ninja War, his and Orochimaru's capabilities were well tested. Otherwise, they wouldn't have been trusted to lead separate fronts," Muzan explained.

Anko, however, was less enthusiastic. "I feel this chance to make achievements is gone. Lord Sakumo will definitely assign us to the rear."

Muzan disagreed. "No, my father understands that my abilities are best used on the battlefield. I'm not just a medical ninja. With five chakra natures and a large amount of chakra, I can do things other ninjas can't."

Due to the potential risks, the Aburame jounin kept Muzan in the central area of the formation. If Muzan were injured or killed, the Aburame clan would face the wrath of two kage-level powerhouses.

After a long journey, the team arrived at the battlefield's frontier, where Konoha's command camp was visible. Sakumo was deep in planning. With Sunagakure weakened, the Third Raikage had directed most of his strength toward Konoha, creating a challenging situation.

"According to our information, the AB team from Kumogakure has appeared on the battlefield. We can't rule out the possibility of the Third Raikage and the Eight-Tails Jinchuuriki coming in person," Sakumo briefed his commanders. The presence of these powerful opponents, along with veteran ninjas, added significant pressure on the frontline.

A herald entered the tent. "Sakumo-sama, our support has arrived. An elite jounin from the Aburame clan leads the team. Your child is also among them."

Sakumo's eyes widened. "Muzan or Kakashi?"

"It's Muzan..."

The situation had just become more complicated. Although Muzan was stronger than Kakashi, unless he reached kage level on the battlefield, his arrival wouldn't change the overall situation. It only added to Sakumo's worries.

"First, go and receive the support personnel from the rear. Yamama Kazurai will handle the dispatching of medical ninjas and have them treat the injured," Sakumo ordered.

"Yes, sir!"

There had been a recent conflict with Kumogakure, leaving many injured. Muzan's arrival was timely, providing much-needed medical support.

Many medical ninjas were sent to the front line, and Muzan was undoubtedly the most eye-catching among them. His skills, inherited from Tsunade, made him stand out.

"Hello, I am Yamama Kazu, a subordinate of Lord Sakumo," said a middle-aged man, addressing the gathered medical ninjas. He followed orders to assign the medical ninjas to the rear, ensuring they were mostly out of harm's way as long as the front line held.

"From today onwards, medical ninjas will obey my orders!" Yamama Kazu declared.

They triaged the injured into categories, with the seriously injured needing immediate attention. Yamama Kazu assigned Muzan to oversee the treatment of the critically injured, recognizing his superior skills.

"Muzan! Your medical ninjutsu is the best among this group. You're in charge of the seriously injured!"

"Yes!" Muzan responded.

The arrival of Muzan eased some of the pressure at the rear and caused a commotion among the injured.

"Is Doctor Muzan here? That's great. It seems our lives can be saved."

"Master Muzan, you're an excellent medical ninja. My life depends on you."

"Doctor, please help me with this penetrating injury."

As soon as Muzan entered the medical tent, he was hit by the strong smell of blood. The scene was grim, with many wounded soldiers. Swift treatment was necessary to prevent infections and save lives.

"Anko, Mari, you're responsible for carrying the medical equipment. The rest of you, start by stopping the bleeding of the seriously injured!" Muzan ordered.

"Yes!" they replied, although Muzan noticed their pale faces. It was their first time facing so many wounded, and the psychological impact was evident. However, they managed to hold it together and perform their duties.

"Quick, quick, quick! The patient is bleeding profusely! Master Muzan needs help here!"

"He's dying! His heart stopped. Emergency assistance!"

"The patient is convulsing, likely due to severe blood loss!"

Konoha had recently clashed with Kumogakure, and the war was still in its early stages. Despite the lack of large-scale battles, they had been busy all afternoon bandaging and treating the injured.

After tending to the last patient, Muzan sat down, exhausted. The mental toll was immense, with his high concentration on controlling chakra for the Palm Healing Technique and performing surgeries. He felt dizzy from the strain.

Suddenly, someone patted him on the back. Turning around, he saw it was a doctor.

"I didn't expect you to handle the critically injured patients so well. Seeing newcomers surpass us veterans is a bit frustrating," the doctor admitted.

Muzan smiled, happy to see an old acquaintance. "Senior, you're joking."

However, his smile faded as he looked around at the patients. "With the war escalating, there will be more and more patients. Our pressure will increase."

"Senior, you know my abilities aren't limited to medical treatment. I'll be on the battlefield soon," Muzan added.

The doctor sighed, understanding Muzan's point but also knowing his value as a healer. Muzan's exceptional talents made him indispensable in both roles.

After treating the patients, Muzan had a more important task. He approached Yamama Kazu to discuss improvements in their medical triage system.

"I have some suggestions. The current classified medical treatment methods are quick but have many shortcomings, especially in the area for seriously injured patients," Muzan began.

Yamama Kazu listened intently. Muzan continued, "Everyone's injuries are different. Currently, there are only a few patients, so it's manageable. But if the number of injured increases, it will slow down treatment."

Muzan proposed a new system: "After triage, the severely injured areas must be disinfected and then subdivided according to the injury types. This way, doctors can treat patients more efficiently based on their specializations."

Yamama Kazu considered Muzan's suggestion. "You're right. Initially, we can speed up by dividing them early, but as the war intensifies, it will burden the medical ninjas."

He implemented Muzan's proposal, improving the system. The changes were reported to Sakumo without favoritism.

"Setting aside medical talent, Muzan should be made my deputy to arrange tasks for the medical ninjas. This will greatly help manage the wounded later," Yamama Kazu suggested.

However, the final decision rested with Sakumo. Muzan's abilities were well-known, and Sakumo decided, "Rather than keeping him at the rear, he should serve as a field doctor, following the troops on missions."

Sakumo recognized Muzan's healing prowess and the importance of battlefield doctors like Tsunade, who could treat injuries on the spot.

With his new responsibilities, Muzan prepared to continue his crucial role, both healing and fighting on the front lines.
