Anyone who has carefully observed spiders knows they are covered in tiny bristles. These bristles serve as a natural defense, easily penetrating the delicate skin of other creatures—especially around vulnerable areas like the mouth. This defense generally deters most animals from considering spiders prey.

However, these bristles have a significant weakness: they are highly flammable. Even a small flame can set a spider ablaze, as these tiny hairs burn quickly.

Black Maria was painfully reminded of this weakness. Before she could react, her lower spider-like body became engulfed in flames, and she screamed in agony. Desperate, she reverted her lower body to human legs, channeling her Armament Haki to suppress the flames.

As she glanced at her burned legs, Black Maria's face contorted with rage. As a woman who took pride in her appearance, the thought of potential scars infuriated her.

Her anger quickly overrode any pretense of elegance, and she shouted, "You little pest! Prepare to die!"

Abandoning her webs and fire attacks, she channeled her Haki into her polearm and charged at Shin, abandoning all pretense of defense. She swung the weapon down with full force, intending to crush him. The dark Armament Haki clashed against Shin's hands, sparks flying from the intensity of their battle. Shin held his ground this time, firmly gripping the weapon.

Surprised, Black Maria hesitated. She had underestimated Shin, initially believing him weaker. Now, she sensed his strength was at least on par with hers.

As the polearm snapped at him, Shin sneered, his fingers tightening. Sharp blades suddenly emerged between them.

These blades were forged from fine metal, enhanced with chakra and chakra-infused steel, and enveloped in Armament Haki. Against this weapon, even Black Maria's artificial Devil Fruit powers stood no chance.

The polearm let out a high-pitched scream as Shin sliced through it, blood spraying from the severed edges. Black Maria, shocked by the sudden destruction of her weapon, felt a shiver run down her spine.

"This isn't good. He shredded my haki so easily. I'm no match for him!"

In truth, though Black Maria was the largest of the Tobiroppo, her actual combat strength ranked lowest. She relied heavily on poison, webs, and her blazing polearm to create an intimidating presence.

But now, Shin's Munch-Munch Fruit had neutralized her webs and flames, and her poisons had little effect on him, a skilled medical ninja. She was at a clear disadvantage. A sense of dread began to settle in.

Despite her fierce persona, Black Maria was a bully at heart, brave only when confident of victory.

Hopeless, she scrambled to escape, ignoring her scorched legs and reverting to her half-beast form. Her spider lower body, though charred and burnt, allowed her to crawl rapidly along the walls and ceiling.

Shin smiled as he watched her retreat. "What a pity. You shouldn't have turned your back on me."

He formed seals with both hands, focusing his chakra, and then called out, "Water Release: Great Waterfall Jutsu!"

A massive torrent of water flooded the corridor, sweeping Black Maria off her feet before she could react. She let out a strangled scream, overwhelmed by the force of the water.

The Great Waterfall Jutsu, though basic, required significant chakra to summon an immense volume of water. While it had limited practical application in close combat due to the lengthy hand signs, it was highly effective in this situation, given Devil Fruit users' susceptibility to water.

As the water subsided, Black Maria lay dazed in a pool, helpless and drained. Wasting no time, Shin approached her, transformed his hand into a large needle, and injected it into her neck.

Black Maria's eyes rolled back, and she collapsed, unconscious.

"Good thing I have enough anesthetics on me," Shin muttered. "With her size, a weaker dose would've been useless." He knew that in the Pirate World, people developed impressive resistance to toxins. But the chakra-enhanced poisons and hallucinogens used by shinobi were formidable, crafted to overpower even the strongest foes.

Now, with Black Maria in a deep sleep, Shin began to prepare a potent hallucinogen. With careful precision, he initiated a genjutsu, seeking information about the Beast Pirates, particularly the location of their treasure hoard.
