Naruto: From Konoha to One Piece

Chapter 14: Chapter 14: Chopper’s Dilemma

Although Ace had invited Shin to join, he wasn't sure Shin would accept.

Ace could tell Shin wasn't just any ordinary person. The power of the rocks Shin threw earlier was immense, showing that his combat abilities were far beyond most people's. Ace was sure no one in the Spade Pirates besides himself could match Shin, and that was without even factoring in Shin's Devil Fruit ability.

As a rare Devil Fruit user, Shin's "Munch-Munch Fruit" powers granted him remarkable transformation skills, not to mention impressive medical expertise. His abilities alone were enough to attract attention, whether from the Navy or the Four Emperors. Just his near-instant healing capacity would be invaluable to any high-ranking crew.

While often referred to as "supernovas," Ace's Spade Pirates still faced the challenges every new crew on the Grand Line does. It wasn't easy to establish a stronghold amidst the countless rival crews. If it were, the Spade Pirates wouldn't be facing such hardship.

On the other hand, Ace's younger brother Luffy had a "dream team" on the Straw Hat Pirates. With a top-notch navigator, talented chef, skilled shipwright, excellent doctor, fierce fighters, and even the world's only archaeologist, his crew had unmatched diversity and strength.

Ace's crew, however, were more like a collection of loyal allies than a polished team.

Still, Shin was unaware of the Spade Pirates' actual state. Given that Ace was Luffy's brother, Shin assumed Ace's crew would be comparable, if not equal, to the Straw Hats' level of organization.

Regardless, the Spade Pirates would eventually merge with the Whitebeard Pirates, so Shin considered Ace's crew more of a stepping stone to Whitebeard's infamous crew.

Ace's excitement was immediate when Shin agreed to join.

By then, the Spade Pirates' ship had also docked, and seven or eight people disembarked. Shin observed them and thought, 'These guys don't seem that strong. They're not on Ace's level.'

"Honestly, with a deputy captain as weak as Deuce, it's a miracle Ace managed to get this group to the Grand Line," Shin mused.

Though Shin possessed some Observation Haki, he could only get a vague sense of his new crewmates' strength. However, since he had analyzed Deuce's body with the Munch-Munch Fruit, he knew Deuce's strength well.

Seeing that Deuce was the deputy captain, Shin understood the Spade Pirates' overall capabilities.

"Ace, are you alright? Who's this guy?" one of the crewmembers asked.

"It seems Deuce has recovered! Has our ship's doctor finally stepped up?" another chimed in.

Blushing, Deuce coughed. "Ahem, I'm not the ship's doctor anymore. Ace found us a new crew member."

"A new member?" Several eyes turned to Shin, who greeted them with a slight smile. "My name is Shin, a simple doctor from the Drum Kingdom."

Chopper, however, appeared somewhat reluctant. "Shin, are you setting out to sea too?"

"Well, Chopper, do you want to join us?" Ace suddenly leaned in, extending the invitation with a grin.

'Enough, Ace! Chopper's practically Luffy's mobile food source!' Shin thought, restraining a chuckle as Ace attempted to recruit his brother's future crewmember.

Chopper, covering his face and twisting nervously, replied, "Idiot! Do you think I'll join your ship so easily? Even if you invite me, I'm not going."

'But it's so obvious you want to go!' Shin thought, sighing internally.

Shin considered that while the Drum Kingdom had plenty of capable doctors, the Straw Hat Pirates would still find a suitable doctor to join them without much trouble. So, even if Chopper left, it wouldn't be an issue.

Suddenly, Chopper's expression changed. "Wait, what is that? Ah! Stay away!" he yelped.

A large lynx dashed over, immediately chomping down on Chopper's head. Chopper shrieked, running in circles as blood dripped from his forehead.

"Kotatsu, stop!"

"Hey, that's not prey!"

The Spade Pirates rushed to separate the lynx from Chopper, finally pulling them apart. Chopper, face stained with tears and blood, sobbed, "Wah! I'm not going! I'll get eaten if I do!"

Shin noticed that the lynx, Kotatsu, was hanging its head in faux submission while sneaking a smug smile. 'Even pets get competitive on these ships,' he thought, mildly amused.

Kotatsu communicated that only one "mascot" would be allowed on this ship.

Most ships rarely had more than one mascot, and if they did, there was only ever one prominent creature on board—be it an animal, a Fur Tribe member, or a Devil Fruit user like Chopper.

Ace and the rest of the Spade Pirates also picked up on this potential conflict and refrained from inviting Chopper again, sensing that two animals on board would only lead to trouble.

"Alright, Chopper, let me patch you up." Shin sighed, then swallowed Chopper.

"Hey!" The Spade Pirates collectively yelped in alarm, and even Kotatsu fluffed up its tail in shock.

A few moments later, Shin spits Chopper back out with all his wounds and blood gone. The crew, relieved, let out a collective sigh.

"That's... that's incredible!" Deuce stammered, eyes widening as he stared at Shin's mouth, now fully understanding the unorthodox treatment he had received.
