Chapter 86: Chapter:83
Yakushi Nonō was the top student in the cultural class at the ninja academy, so when she said she had never learned something, it meant it wasn't taught.
Shinichi was left speechless.
Ninjas from his generation knew the origin of Konohagakure well—it was formed when Senju and Uchiha set aside their old grudges and united the clans, along with a large number of civilians.
However, it wasn't his responsibility to teach cultural classes, and he wasn't sure why this wasn't covered in the ninja academy. Perhaps it was there, but only mentioned in passing.
Shinichi made a vague judgment based on his ninja experience: when key information is omitted, it's usually because of its significance, either to one's allies or enemies.
"I don't know why either. Maybe the person who wrote the textbook made an oversight!" Hirito said with a shrug, feigning innocence. "I'm just a 9-year-old kid. How much could I know?"
"Then can you tell us more about the First Hokage?" Minato asked, his curiosity piqued. "The textbooks only say he pacified the ninja world and earned the title 'God of Shinobi,' but nothing more."
Hirito hesitated. "I don't know much beyond that. It seems the First Hokage's strength was legendary, but I'm not familiar with the specifics."
Of course, Hirito knew the full story: Wood Style, the Nine-Tails, Uchiha Madara, Susanoo, the True Several Thousand Hands, and the Buddha on top... But if he revealed all that, he wouldn't be able to explain how he knew such details.
"The First Hokage was really that amazing…" Minato said, his eyes filled with admiration.
It was clear that Minato idolized the First Hokage. He secretly resolved to become an outstanding Hokage himself, one recognized by everyone.
Nonō raised another question. "Shinichi-sensei, the book says that the Third Hokage is the 'strongest Hokage' in history. Does that mean he's stronger than the First Hokage?"
"Ah… well…" Shinichi cursed the textbook authors for making such claims. Now, how was he supposed to answer that?
"You can't compare them like that," Hirito interjected.
"In ninja battles, strength and victory aren't always directly connected. There are many factors to consider—elemental strengths and weaknesses, fighting styles, terrain, even the weather."
Hirito's words rang true. Even someone as powerful as the Ten Tails could be held off by the ninja army for a while in the original timeline. And the very founder of chakra in the ninja world was sealed by her own descendants.
Comparing Senju Hashirama and Sarutobi Hiruzen was simply unfair!
A thought passed through Hirito's mind: It would be like an adult slapping a child…
"What Hirito said is exactly right," Shinichi said, glad for the assist. His previous embarrassment vanished as he returned to his usual authoritative tone. "What's important now is improving your own strength."
Turning to Minato, Shinichi continued, "You have three chakra natures—fire, wind, and lightning. I don't know much about Lightning Style, so I'll teach you Fire Style first."
Then, addressing Nonō, he said, "Medical ninjutsu suits you best, but I can't teach you that."
As a Special Jōnin, Shinichi wasn't trained in medical techniques.
"So, I'll teach you a Wind Style technique. Wind enhances fire, and if the opportunity arises, you and Minato could use combined ninjutsu."
Finally, Shinichi turned to Hirito, feeling both proud and at a loss. Hirito's skills were exceptional in all areas, leaving little for him to teach. After all, Shinichi wasn't familiar with the Gentle Fist techniques of the Hyuga clan.
"Well, Hirito, it looks like you'll have to train on your own for now. Don't worry about me," Shinichi said with a slight smile.
Hirito, understanding the situation, nodded. "No problem, Shinichi-sensei. I'll practice on my own."
With that, Shinichi formed a hand sign.
Bang! Bang!
Two clouds of white smoke exploded as he created Shadow Clones.
One clone would teach Minato, and the other would instruct Nonō. Meanwhile, Shinichi himself would spar with Hirito to give him some real combat experience.
The two Shadow Clones headed off in different directions, with Minato and Nonō quickly following.
Minato's Shadow Clone began to explain. "Minato, the Fire Style technique I'll teach you is the [Great Fireball Technique]. It's the signature jutsu of the Uchiha clan, though many others in the village use it as well."
The clone clearly explained the chakra flow and the technique's rules.
Then, demonstrating slowly enough for Minato to follow, Shinichi's clone formed the seals.
"Snake-eagle-crow-dog-yin…"
"Fire Style: Great Fireball Technique!"
Shinichi's clone inhaled deeply before expelling a massive fireball, more than ten meters in diameter. The intense heat scorched the air, blackened the grass, and even caused nearby stones to crack.
"Whoa!" Minato's eyes lit up in excitement.
The distorted air and smoldering ground showed the devastating power of the technique.
"Have you got it?" the clone asked.
"I think so. I'll give it a try," Minato replied modestly.
He took a deep breath, mobilized his chakra, and began forming the seals.
"Fire Style: Great Fireball Technique!"
A fireball burst forth from Minato's mouth. While it wasn't as large as Shinichi's clone's, it was still an impressive three meters in diameter.
Shinichi's clone gave him a thumbs-up. "Well done! That's excellent for your first try."
Inwardly, Shinichi marveled at Minato's talent. He learned it on the first attempt! How long did it take me to master this? Two, maybe three days?
"The [Great Fireball Technique] has a wide range of attack, and its power can scale with the user's ability," Shinichi explained. "It's also relatively low in chakra consumption, so it's a good match for your current level."
After a brief pause, he added, "Since you picked that up so quickly, I'll teach you another Fire Style technique—[Phoenix Fire Technique]."
"This one is also C-rank, like [Great Fireball], but it focuses on area attacks rather than direct damage. It's like seeds of fire scattered in all directions, hard for enemies to evade."
The clone formed the hand seals again.
Meanwhile, in another part of the forest, Shinichi's other Shadow Clone was teaching Nonō Wind Style Ninjutsu.
Although Nonō didn't have Minato's natural aptitude for learning jutsu, her medical training had honed her chakra control, allowing her to pick up the techniques relatively quickly.
Impressed by her progress, the clone taught her two Wind Style techniques.
The first was [Wind Style: Great Breakthrough], which could be used to enhance fire jutsu or blow enemies away with a powerful gust of wind.
The second was [Wind Style: Wind Net], a combination of attack and defense. It created a large net of wind that could trap enemies while dealing significant damage.
With precise chakra control, the net of wind could move quickly, making it difficult for enemies to evade.
While all this was happening, Shinichi sparred with Hirito, challenging him in close combat.
But then, Hirito stopped mid-fight to ask a surprising question.
"Shinichi-sensei, do you know where the nearest underground gold exchange is?"
