Chapter 212: The Overlord of East Blue Descends Upon Cocoyasi Village!
After bidding farewell to her friends Kuina and Zoro, Nami and Nojiko set sail from Shimotsuki Village, heading back to Cocoyasi Village.
They made this journey once a year to pay respects to their late adoptive mother, Bell-mère.
This time, however, things were different. Uninvited guests had arrived at Cocoyasi Village.
As their boat approached the village's waters, they noticed a blockade of pirate ships surrounding the island.
Nami's face instantly paled—she recognized the pirate flag flying over them.
It belonged to none other than Don Krieg, the infamous Overlord of East Blue.
This man was a ruthless tyrant, known for his cruelty and heartlessness.
Massacring villages and exterminating entire islands was nothing new for him.
Compared to Arlong, his atrocities were far worse.
But why would a man of his caliber appear in such a small, insignificant village?
Fifteen-year-old Nami had matured over the years, but even she found herself filled with unease.
This situation terrified her, leaving her uncertain about what to do.
Despite the obvious danger, she forced herself to press forward.
She couldn't abandon her people.
Even if it meant risking her life, she had to find out what was happening.
"You there! Halt! This island belongs to Don Krieg now!"
"Turn back, or we'll kill you!"
A group of Krieg Pirates intercepted them, barking threats.
Under normal circumstances, these cutthroats would have immediately looted the approaching vessel.
They would have slaughtered the men and kidnapped the women.
But today was different.
Don Krieg had ordered a total lockdown of the island.
The entire operation was focused on finding someone, and distractions wouldn't be tolerated.
If anything went wrong, they would pay the price.
"I have important information for Don Krieg."
"If I'm delayed, you'll be held responsible."
Nami stood her ground, lying effortlessly.
The pirates hesitated.
They had no way of knowing whether she was telling the truth.
And they didn't want to risk incurring Krieg's wrath.
Reluctantly, they moved aside, allowing her ship to pass.
The first barrier had been breached.
Upon reaching the shore, they immediately saw Krieg's men everywhere.
Tension weighed heavily on Nami's heart.
Everyone—the villagers, her friends, her home—was at the mercy of these monsters.
With fear and urgency, they hurried toward the village square.
As they arrived, they found all the villagers bound and huddled together in a clearing.
Don Krieg's men surrounded them, grinning sadistically.
A man clad in golden armor sat on a makeshift throne, observing with amusement.
This was Don Krieg.
"Captain, these people refuse to talk!"
"They're hiding something! I say we start killing them—one by one."
Krieg smirked.
"An excellent idea."
"Proceed."
He leaned back, eager to enjoy the show.
A pirate grabbed one of the villagers and doused him in oil.
"This is your last chance."
"Tell me what I want to know, or you burn."
The man shook his head, tears brimming in his eyes.
"I swear, we don't know anything!"
"We don't know who you're looking for!"
No matter how many times they pleaded their innocence, Krieg's men refused to believe them.
The villagers had no way of proving their ignorance.
"Then you're useless."
The pirate raised his torch.
Just as he was about to set the man ablaze—
"STOP!"
A furious voice shattered the air.
Everyone turned.
Nami and her group had arrived.
"Don Krieg!"
"What have these people done to deserve this?"
"If they've wronged you, I'll take responsibility!"
"I'll even pay compensation!"
Nami desperately tried to de-escalate the situation.
She knew she was outmatched.
If she wanted to save the villagers, she had to negotiate.
Meanwhile, Uchiha Yi observed from the shadows, shaking his head.
He had anticipated this.
No matter how much preparation he had done, some things were beyond his control.
Nami's mindset was still not that of a true warrior.
Unlike Luffy, she didn't charge forward recklessly.
Instead, she was rational, preferring to strategize and bargain.
She wasn't a coward—but she lacked the ruthlessness necessary for true strength.
Her hesitation and cautious nature made her less suited for battle.
A true stronger force would never bow.
She had yet to develop the mindset of a king.
This needed to change.
She needed to discard her fear.
To become the Queen of the World, she had to embrace power—not negotiate with it.
By the time Uchiha Yi finished analyzing the situation, Nami's attempt to bargain had failed.
Her face showed defeat.
She had hoped to reason with Don Krieg.
But it didn't work.
Her mind spiraled into panic.
How could she stop this?
Her village… her people…
She was powerless.
She hated this weakness.
If only she had real strength, she could protect everyone.
Her fists clenched.
Her eyes turned empty—hollow with despair.
For a brief moment, she even considered asking Uchiha Yi for help.
But how?
Krieg had thousands of men.
The odds were impossible.
He couldn't defeat an entire army alone… could he?
A deep sigh came from behind her.
"Little Nami, today I will teach you a valuable lesson."
She turned, startled.
Uchiha Yi stepped forward, his expression calm.
"In this world, there is no such thing as justice or evil."
"Only one thing is absolute."
"Weakness itself… is a crime."
He smiled.
"So, tell me, Nami…"
"Are you ready to become strong?"
