Chapter 77: Chapter 15:Taking Fuu Away!

The aftermath of the battle left Team 7 battered and bruised, but victorious. Kakuzu, reduced to just his head and a single lightning mask, had fled the battlefield. Despite the victory, the toll was clear: Naruko, Hitomi, and Yuto were all injured to varying degrees. Fuu, who had been less harmed, stood near the unconscious Kakashi, slumped in a makeshift duffel bag with only his head visible, his exhaustion rendering him unable to stand.

The villagers of the Waterfall Village approached the team, their faces a mixture of gratitude and unease. They offered their thanks, and even the hardened ninjas bowed to Team 7. The kids would have normally felt a swell of pride or at least embarrassment at such attention, but the weight of the villagers' collective gaze wasn't on them—it was on Fuu.

Disgust and fear radiated from the crowd, with many casting her hateful or wary looks. Even Shibuki, the village leader, wore a troubled expression as he stepped forward, hesitant but firm.

"Was Kakuzu's attack... because of Fuu?" he asked, his voice laced with guilt and apprehension. He had gotten some information from the ninjas that were interrogated and he didn't know what to do.

The words sent a ripple through the crowd, and murmurs rose like an oncoming storm. Before Team 7 could respond, the captured ninjas who had been interrogated began speaking of how Kakuzu had learned about the Hero's Water and Fuu's presence and was more after Fuu than the heroes water.

Yuto's blood boiled as he listened, his eyes blazing with fury. The murmurs in the crowd grew louder until angry voices erupted.

"Get rid of her!"

"She's the reason they came here!"

"It's her fault!"

The accusations hurled at Fuu grew harsher, and the entire village seemed to turn against her. Even the shinobi who had bowed moments ago now joined in, demanding she be thrown out.

Team 7 was livid. Naruko clenched her fists so tightly her knuckles turned white, and Hitomi glared daggers at the crowd. If it weren't for the unconscious Kakashi they were carrying, they might have lashed out. Even so, they barely held back their anger, standing protectively near Fuu.

Through it all, Fuu remained silent. She didn't flinch at the harsh words, her expression distant and resigned, as though she had long since given up on expecting anything else. But that only fueled Yuto's anger further.

Suddenly, Yuto stepped forward, his voice cutting through the crowd like a blade.

"Enough!" he shouted, silencing the villagers. His glare was fierce, his commanding presence unexpected for someone so young. "If you don't want her, then I'll take her with me!"

The declaration sent shockwaves through the crowd. Even Team 7 and Fuu were stunned. Naruko and Hitomi exchanged bewildered glances, while Fuu stared at Yuto, her eyes wide with disbelief.

Without waiting for a response, Yuto strode forward, grabbed Fuu's hand, and began dragging her away. Fuu stumbled at first, struggling to keep up with him, but she didn't resist.

"Yuto, wait—what are you doing?" Naruko called out, hurrying after him with Hitomi while carrying Kakashi in the duffle bag.

"Are you serious right now?" Hitomi added.

Yuto didn't stop or look back. "The mission is over," he called over his shoulder. As he passed Shibuki, he added coldly, "We completed an S-rank mission. Make sure the payment reflects that and send it to Konoha. We're done here."

Shibuki looked shocked, guilt and uncertainty warring on his face, but he nodded numbly.

Once out of the village, Yuto slowed, stopping at a clearing just outside the gates.

"Grab onto me," he instructed the others firmly.

"Yuto, calm down first." Hitomi began but was cut off by his sharp glare.

"Do it," he said simply. His tone brooked no argument.

Naruko and Hitomi exchanged looks, then placed their hands on him. Fuu hesitated, looking down at their joined hands, but Yuto tightened his grip on hers and gave her a slight nod. She clung to him as well.

A flash of chakra enveloped them, and in an instant, they were gone, reappearing in the clearing where Yuto had left a kunai before the mission began. It was the same place where they had first encountered the injured woman.

Yuto released a breath, his grip on Fuu loosening as he steadied himself while Naruko and Hitomi stepped back.

"Yuto?" Naruko asked in a hesitant tone.

"She didn't deserve that," Yuto replied, his voice low as the anger resided. He turned to look at Fuu, who stared at him with wide, uncertain eyes. "And I'm not going to let her stay in a place where they treat her like that."

Fuu opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out. For the first time, she seemed utterly lost for what to say.

Yuto gazed at Fuu, who looked uneasy. She hesitated before asking, "Won't I just be a burden to you all if I come with you?"

Yuto shook his head firmly. "No. I'll take full responsibility for you, Fuu. I'll talk to the Hokage and make sure you're safe in Konoha." He paused, giving her a reassuring look. "You'll make friends there, and life will be better than staying in that village."

Inwardly, Yuto thought about Danzo. 'After the Chunin Exams, I'll deal with him while he's weak, adjusting to his new Sharingan arm.'

Naruko and Hitomi nodded in agreement. They understood the risks of taking Fuu to Konoha, especially with Danzo lurking in the shadows. Kakashi had already given them subtle warnings about the man.

"Fuu," Naruko said, smiling, "Konoha's way better than your old village. You won't have to be alone anymore."

Hitomi added with a small smile, "You're safer with us. That village of yours? They wouldn't hesitate to hand you over if Kakuzu ever came back."

Fuu blinked at their words, her heart swelling with emotion. "Thank you..." she murmured softly. For the first time in years, she felt the possibility of hope.
