Chapter 11: Chapter 11:- Kurenai's Questioning
As he wandered the streets, he coincidentally ran into Kurenai Yuhi again.
Kurenai Yuhi clearly noticed this Uchiha clansman. Thinking of her mother's words from the previous night, she began to feel some hatred toward this Uchiha clansman. She even planned to confront him directly.
She put on a slight smile and said, "Thank you for helping me out yesterday. May I treat you to a meal to properly thank you?"
Uchiha Ryosuke was a bit surprised. Could it be that this beauty already liked him? If so, wouldn't that be... possible? 'Hehe.'
"Just call me Ryosuke. If you're treating me, Ichiraku Ramen will do just fine." It seemed he hadn't eaten anything yet today. Ichiraku Ramen was a perfectly good choice for lunch, as eating there wouldn't cause any stomach problems. The taste was also excellent, which explained its popularity in Konoha.
This response surprised Kurenai a little. 'Did someone from the prestigious Uchiha clan also enjoy such food?'
She nodded in agreement and said, "Alright."
Kurenai and Ryosuke went together to Ichiraku Ramen, where they had a great meal, with Kurenai naturally footing the bill.
Afterward, Kurenai suggested taking a walk with Ryosuke. Ryosuke readily agreed; young women like Kurenai were perfect for having children.
Kurenai then led Ryosuke toward a secluded part of the village, as she was looking for a quiet place to question him.
Ryosuke noticed that the place was getting more and more remote. Could this be a secret rendezvous for lovers? Couples usually went to secluded places for such things.
When they arrived at a deserted spot, Kurenai stopped walking, turned around, and dropped her smile, looking up at the slightly taller Uchiha Ryosuke.
Ryosuke dropped his daydreams because he noticed that her expression seemed somewhat unfriendly, even a bit cold. Now he just had to wait for her to speak to find out why she had brought him here.
Kurenai coldly stared at Ryosuke and asked, "Was the Nine-Tails incident caused by your Uchiha clan? My father died in battle protecting the village during the Nine-Tails incident."
Ryosuke was a bit shocked. Did she bring him here to take revenge on him? He quickly responded, "Why do you think it was the Uchiha clan who did it?"
"If the Uchiha clan had the ability to control the Nine-Tails, why would the Konoha leadership force us to move our clan to the corner of the village?"
Hearing his words, Kurenai's expression softened a bit. What he said seemed to make sense. "But if it wasn't the Uchiha clan, then who could have done it?"
Historically, only Uchiha Madara had successfully controlled the Nine-Tails. Ryosuke, of course, knew who did it. It wasn't anyone from the current Uchiha clan, but the lunatic Uchiha Obito.
However, he couldn't say that outright. Even if he revealed it was the lunatic Uchiha Obito, the villagers would still blame the entire Uchiha clan.
It would also give the Konoha leadership a valid excuse to act against the Uchiha clan. Moreover, since Kurenai was questioning him so seriously, he couldn't leave a bad impression on her.
He explained, "I'm certain that no one in the current Uchiha clan has the ability to control the Nine-Tails. I also feel deeply saddened and regretful about your father's death."
"Back then, during the Nine-Tails incident, I was still very young, but I clearly remember it. Your father, together with the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze, protected the village."
"Our Uchiha clan also wanted to help protect the village, but the Konoha leadership, including the Third Hokage and Danzo, blocked us at the gate. The important fighters of our clan were all stopped at the gate. If the leadership had trusted the Uchiha clan and joined forces with us to deal with the Nine-Tails, your father and the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze, might not have died in battle."
"The fact that the Uchiha clan can still remain peacefully in Konoha indicates that the leadership has no evidence to prove it was us who did it. Otherwise, the Uchiha clan wouldn't be able to stay in the village."
Hearing Ryosuke's words, Kurenai's expression changed. 'If it really was the Uchiha clan's doing, the Konoha leadership would never have allowed the Uchiha clan to stay peacefully in the village.'
At the same time, it was indeed her father and the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze, who led the ninjas to protect the village during the Nine-Tails incident. None of the other Konoha leaders participated, and even the Third Hokage didn't personally face the Nine-Tails on the battlefield. The Root leader, Danzo, also didn't show up.
If what Uchiha Ryosuke said was true, if they had all joined forces, so many powerful ninjas attacking together might have subdued the Nine-Tails with minimal casualties. Then her father and the Fourth Hokage wouldn't have died.
Her mother wouldn't have had such a hard time, and neither would she. After hearing what Ryosuke said, Kurenai's impression of the Uchiha clan changed.
She apologized, "I'm sorry for wrongly accusing you."
Now she believed the Uchiha clan wasn't the culprit behind the Nine-Tails incident. Konoha was also the Uchiha clan's home; who would destroy their own home?
Moreover, during the Nine-Tails incident, they were blocked by the Konoha leadership. How could they have caused trouble?
What surprised her most was that the Uchiha leadership had such a close relationship with the Fourth Hokage and his wife. That made it even more unlikely for the Uchiha clan to have caused the Nine-Tails incident.
Ryosuke, however, didn't show any intention of blaming her and continued to throw dirt on the Konoha leadership. "It's not your fault; it's all because of the baseless suspicions of the Konoha leadership."
"During the Nine-Tails incident, I also don't understand why only the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze, and your father fought against the Nine-Tails."
"The Third Hokage, Konoha advisors Danzo, Koharu Utatane, and Homura Mitokado didn't take action."
"I don't know what these people were doing."
"They even came to stop the Uchiha clan from taking action. As a result, the Fourth Hokage's family and your father sacrificed themselves. Our Uchiha clan also feels very sorrowful about this."
Throwing dirt was easy, especially when the Konoha leadership's actions during the incident were indefensible. If they had acted, the Fourth Hokage and Kurenai's father might not have died.
Perhaps they were afraid of death and just stood by watching. Thinking of this, Ryosuke felt a bit disdainful of the so-called "Will of Fire."
It was laughable. Was their "Will of Fire" simply making others sacrifice while they watched and reaped the benefits? The Third Hokage was truly hypocritical.
He preached such ideals to others but had no notable battle achievements himself. He only became Hokage by putting on an emotional performance in front of the Second Hokage, showing his willingness to sacrifice himself for others.
