"The significance of an airborne Shinobi unit—is self-evident. I needn't elaborate." Gojo Kaigetsu's voice resonated through the room. "You all understand its value."

He continued, "Before Konoha achieves ultimate victory and unites the Shinobi world, this airborne force will be our most clandestine, most unpredictable weapon. Their records will be sealed. Their actions will remain hidden. The official narrative will be that they are 'engaged in a highly classified mission."

"This airborne Shinobi force will be permanently stationed on the aerial fortress, maintaining constant vigilance, acting solely on Konoha's direct orders. For both security and utmost secrecy, they will also be branded with Root's 'Cursed Tongue Eradication Seal,' preventing any potential information leaks."

He paused, ensuring his words had impact.

"Of course, given these stringent conditions, the village will not—neglect their well-being. Salary, healthcare—everything will be of the highest standard. The fortress boasts excellent facilities, including top-tier chefs. Life there will be no less comfortable than on the ground."

"...." A heavy silence descended upon the Hokage conference room.

Gojo Kaigetsu didn't press them.

Instead, he gave a subtle nod to Kakashi, who stood guard by the door.

Kakashi, absent for nearly a month—appeared noticeably thinner. The dark circles beneath his single visible eye were more pronounced. His overall demeanor seemed—altered.

However, freed from the emotional weight of the Sharingan, his chakra flowed more freely than ever, and his actual condition was significantly improved.

One might say his eye was gone, but he owed Advisor Gojo a debt of gratitude.

Hatake Kakashi was—in effect, drawing three salaries: one from Anbu, another from the Military Police Force, and a third as Gojo Kaigetsu's personal secretary.

This fourth source of income was thus secured—in terms of pure salary, even the Hokage's post-tax earnings might pale in comparison to Kakashi's!

Such was the confidence that came with holding multiple positions!

Before the assembled officials, Kakashi signed his name—Hatake Kakashi—on a blank sheet of paper.

He then respectfully presented the paper to Gojo Kaigetsu.

Minato, perplexed, looked at his student. "Kakashi, what is the meaning of this?"

"I, Kakashi, volunteer to become a member of the airborne Shinobi force!" Kakashi declared, setting the precedent.

His background was impeccably clean.

His father was a legendary Konoha Shinobi.

His teacher was the Hokage.

His superior was Konoha's second-in-command.

Of his closest connections—one was dead, one was undergoing experimental procedures, and one was hospitalized.

He was a three-without Shinobi: lacking parents, family, and burdens, with an exceptionally pure lineage.

Joining the airborne Shinobi force might represent a monumental decision for others, a commitment to walk in darkness, entrusting their very lives and Shinobi way to Konoha—After all, there was no guarantee that Konoha would ultimately unify the Shinobi world, granting them their freedom.

But for Kakashi, the situation was different. Signing his name on the registration form carried no such weight.

Besides, there were no restrictions on bringing personal belongings to the fortress. It simply meant he would transport a few extra boxes of—reading material.

In moments of solitude, he could—find solace. And he would earn an additional salary. What reason was there to refuse?

Hatake Kakashi was the first.

Seated in the first and second positions on the right, Uchiha Fugaku and the now-recovered Hyūga Hiashi followed suit, inscribing the names of their clansmen:

Uchiha Mako—Hyūga Takashi—

Two more Special Jonin!

Only then did the other clan leaders fully grasp the situation. Perhaps—this was a moment of—realignment! Those who demonstrated the greatest loyalty now would likely receive a larger portion of the benefits in this new aerial power structure.

Furthermore, when new flying Shinobi tools were eventually produced for commercial cargo transport, those who signed their names earlier on this document might well be granted preferential usage rights!

With this realization, the representatives of the Shinobi clans no longer hesitated, eagerly adding the names of their clansmen:

Yamanaka Inoichi, Nara Shikaku, Akimichi Chōza, Aburame Shibi…

Regardless of the individual strength of these listed Shinobis, their loyalty was unquestionable. Given the explicit conditions, if any of these individuals were to ascend to the fortress and subsequently defect—their clans would face severe repercussions.

Observing the rapidly growing list of names, Gojo Kaigetsu subconsciously stroked his chin...

This overwhelming sense of déjà vu…

If events were to unfold according to the standard—shonen manga formula, what would happen next?

———

[Gojo Kaigetsu, his expression grave, would meticulously compile these names. He would personally draft letters of commission, obtaining Minato Namikaze's official Hokage seal, imprinting them one by one as if they were dispensed without cost…]

Then—

[He would summon Hatake Kakashi, instructing him to contact each individual on the list.]

[These Shinobis, no matter their location, would immediately return! That was the Will of Fire coursing through their veins, the fundamental choice of their hearts!]

[Then—the scene would shift, focusing on some unassuming location. The unfortunate Shinobi, chosen by destiny, would momentarily halt his work, his gaze fixed upon the envelope in his hand.]

Initially, he would assume it was a routine letter, but upon opening the outer layer, he would see the prominent Hokage seal on the enclosed document, titled "Commission Letter."

Upon unfolding it, several words would leap out at him:

[Village in Danger, Return Swiftly!]

"Our Konoha—is it truly in danger?!" The unnamed, unfortunate Shinobi would murmur to himself, his expression growing increasingly serious after reading the contents.

The commission letter, issued under the authority of the Hokage Tower, informed him that Konoha was currently facing a grave crisis. The very Will of Fire of Konoha was at a critical juncture!

He was summoned to immediately proceed to a clandestine base within the Konoha Forest.

During his involvement in this operation, he would be forbidden from any contact with others – be it friends, loved ones, family, or—any other bonds. These connections would be severed. He was bound to maintain absolute secrecy regarding all information.

His name…

Would be completely erased from Konoha's records, all traces removed. Solely—for the perpetuation of the Will of Fire!

The narrative intensity would then escalate!

Previously, he would have unhesitatingly participated in this mission. However, tomorrow was his wedding day. He had already invited relatives and friends, receiving their blessings.

Now, he was compelled to heed the Hokage Tower's summons, reporting to a secret base. This meant he would inevitably miss his own wedding, with no certainty of when, or even if, he would return.

This presented an agonizing dilemma. On one hand, the village called; on the other, his fiancée, his steadfast companion for years.

After an entire day of agonizing contemplation, he would sit, despondent, in his home, countless thoughts swirling within him, locked in a desperate struggle.

Finally, a thousand words would condense into a single sigh. He would retrieve a blank sheet of paper, begin to write, and, upon completion, silently fold it, entrusting it to a messenger to deliver to his fiancée.

The message would be brief, a mere handful of words: "My Wife, forgive me."

Or perhaps, "My Wife, forgive me. Find another man to marry."

Due to the confidentiality stipulations outlined in the conscription order, he could not divulge any details of the operation, nor could he provide his fiancée with a legitimate explanation.

He could only leave such a stark, simple sentence. A single tear would fall, staining the letter.

Then, with resolute determination, he would rise, pack his belongings, erase all traces of his presence, and embark on the journey to the secret base in the Konoha Forest!!
