Chapter 106: Troublemaker Obito! Kurama: Old Geezer's Sneak Attack!
[Sharingan Training Method: Mastering this allows the activation of three tomoe, representing insight comparable to the Byakugan, genjutsu abilities rivaling the Mangekyō, and the power to copy both jutsu and Bloodline Limits.]
After absorbing the influx of information in his mind, a trace of a smile flickered across Ishihara's face. He finally had the complete Sharingan Training method in his hands. Next on the agenda: unlocking the Mangekyō! However, Ishihara didn't rush. Although his previous Mangekyō training method had no side effects, it required an extensive accumulation of time. Back then, his foundations were nowhere near as deep as they were now. With the complete Sharingan Training Method in hand, he naturally had no reason to use the old secret technique. He began consolidating all his resources and data, attempting to create a new secret method to unlock the Mangekyō.
In truth, even without the system, he had already set a course. Just as Ishihara was attempting to activate the Mangekyō, over by the previous barrier's location, the First and Second Hokages were sealed in place. Suddenly, Obito, who had been lurking near Kurama, appeared. Zetsu emerged from the ground, urging him, "Obito, now that our plans have changed, avoid clashing with Ishihara. You should know that merely saying you want to kill him won't make it happen."
Originally, their plan was to provoke Naruto into losing control, thus collecting some of Kurama's chakra for future use, without drawing Ishihara's attention. But now, they had a better plan. Obito sneered, "Even if I can't kill him, I can disgust him!" With that, he activated Kamui, pulling the sealed First Hokage from the barrier and into the Kamui dimension. Seeing his success, Obito felt a twinge of pride—it was, after all, Ishihara's seal he'd bypassed! Even Black Zetsu looked at Obito with a hint of admiration, only boosting Obito's pride.
At that moment, the shadow on the ground shifted. Swish! Ishihara suddenly appeared before Obito, who hadn't managed to escape, studying him for a moment before laughing. "So that's why you dared to show up—this is just a shadow clone." Obito, slightly smug, responded, "I learned this trick from you, after all." Ishihara's eye twitched. It felt like Obito had become much more annoying since losing to him and revealing his identity. With a casual swipe, Ishihara slapped Obito's shadow clone into oblivion, then glanced toward Kurama with a frown. Could it be that he had overthought things, and Obito's intentions weren't about the Eye of the Moon plan?
---
The story shifts to the moment Kurama went on a rampage, shortly after Obito's departure. Roar! "Konoha, we meet again!" Kurama roared, swiping his massive claws, his immense power instantly tearing through buildings, creating a whirlwind of destruction. Kakashi and others looked at the towering Nine-Tails, expressions grim. "We can't let him keep destroying!" As they prepared to fight, the Third Hokage and Danzo arrived. The Third Hokage's face was grave as he surveyed the Nine-Tails. An Anbu agent quickly whispered to him, and the Third's pupils contracted as he gritted out a single name.
"Obito!!!"
No matter how much he loathed Obito, stopping Kurama had to be his top priority. He immediately summoned Enma, transforming him into an indestructible staff, which he extended to push Kurama out of the village. But to his surprise—Thwack!—Kurama swatted the staff aside with a paw, glaring furiously at the Third Hokage.
"You old geezer, you snuck up on me last time, didn't you? Die!" Kurama bellowed, gathering chakra in his mouth to form a dense, terrifyingly massive Tailed Beast Ball. The Third Hokage's face darkened in horror at the sight of the attack. How could he possibly deflect something that powerful here, in the heart of Konoha? The potential damage was unimaginable.
"Die!" Kurama roared as he hurled the Tailed Beast Ball toward the Third Hokage, who braced himself with Enma to block it. But, unexpectedly, the ball veered off, flying far away from Konoha. Just as he was puzzling over it, Shikaku Nara and others arrived. The Uchiha incident had cast a pall over figures like Hiashi Hyuga and Shikaku, filling them with dread. Upon witnessing Kurama's rampage, they rushed over without delay.
"Hokage-sama, we're here to help!" Shikaku called, positioning himself behind the Third Hokage. It was he who had used a shadow technique to deflect Kurama's aim. The Third Hokage breathed a sigh of relief but looked uncertainly at the still-raging Kurama. Though he could hold back the beast with Konoha's support, resealing it would be nearly impossible—especially since Naruto now knew his true heritage as the son of the Fourth Hokage. This added a new layer of tension between Naruto, Konoha, and himself.
But if they didn't seal Kurama within Naruto, they had no other suitable jinchuriki candidate for the time being. Watching Kurama, the Third Hokage's expression shifted indecisively. "What should we do?" At that moment, a dark vortex appeared behind him, and a hand reached out to snatch the large scroll strapped to his back.
"Damn it!" The Third Hokage, shaken from his thoughts, realized too late as Obito pulled the giant scroll into the Kamui dimension.
"Return the Reanimation Jutsu legacy scroll!" he roared.
What?! Danzo, standing in the empty space nearby, was stunned. Partly because of the enemy's strange abilities, but mainly due to the potential of the Reanimation Jutsu. He turned to the Third Hokage in alarm. "How many uses are left on that scroll?" The Third Hokage's face was tense. "One. I passed it on once already!" Danzo heaved a sigh of relief. "At least there's only one use left." The Third Hokage gritted his teeth. "But now Konoha will never have access to the Reanimation Jutsu again! Obito, that bastard, must be destroyed!" Danzo's face darkened. "But what does he plan to do with the Reanimation Jutsu?"
Nearby, Hiashi Hyuga winced. "Just moments ago, Obito used his mysterious dōjutsu to steal the First Hokage from Ishihara's seal!"
