Chapter 110: Chapter 110
A total of thirteen samurai stood there. They were not dressed in uniform attire, but each carried a pair of swords—one long, one short. It was clear that they were practitioners of the dual-sword style, the most common samurai school in the ninja world, making them easily identifiable.
However, Haruto Saito could see even more detailed information about them.
This group of samurai came from a faction called "Rain Martial Village." Just like the Rain Weep Village ninjas encountered earlier, Rain Martial Village was another small faction within the Land of Rain.
Judging by their reputation, only three of them had reached Jonin-level strength, while the rest were mostly Chunin-level. There were even two who were only Genin-level.
They weren't exactly weak. If Haruto Saito had to face them alone, it would naturally be troublesome. However, with Jiraiya and Tsunade by his side, these samurai wouldn't stand a chance.
The highest-ranking samurai among them, the leader of this group, was named "Tamoto No." He was a tall, thin man in his forties with a reputation of over six thousand points. That suggested he was likely on par with an elite Jonin.
The samurai settled on the grassy field outside the forest, making a racket as they prepared their meal.
Some set up tents, while others skinned wild rabbits they had just hunted outside the valley. The rain continued to fall, but they seemed entirely unaffected. Being natives of the Land of Rain, they had long since grown accustomed to such weather.
"But I heard that the entire Land of Rain is in motion now. The Rain Ninja Village has spread the message everywhere, and even Rain Roar Village from the far west has sent people here."
"Who wouldn't come? Rain Ninja Village offered a sky-high bounty. Everyone wants a piece of it."
"The bounty is just one part. Some people want to take the Black Armor for themselves. Especially those top-ranked samurai—if they get their hands on the Black Armor and rally support, who knows how many samurai would flock to them? They might even establish a second Iron Country."
"Easier said than done. That's not so simple."
"Tsunade and Jiraiya—rumor has it they are the direct disciples of the Third Hokage of Konoha, Hiruzen Sarutobi. Supposedly, they are incredibly strong. But I think that's just exaggerated. Two young people in their twenties—how strong could they really be?"
"Rumors aren't necessarily false. We haven't seen them in action, and they don't have any earth-shattering feats yet, but we shouldn't underestimate them."
"Hey! I wonder if they managed to escape yet?"
"Impossible. The southeast region is already a massive trap. Rain Ninja Village has sealed the borders. They are dead set on finding them. If they escape now, Rain Ninja Village's reputation will be ruined."
"Yeah, and I heard that Lord Hanzo himself is personally involved in the search. Too many experts are on the move. I don't even know if we still have a chance."
"Don't be so pessimistic! Just providing information earns us ten million ryo! We must get that money!"
Hidden in the shadows, Tsunade, Jiraiya, and Haruto Saito had been listening for a long time. Their expressions darkened.
The situation had worsened to this extent? The border was already sealed? Experts from all over the Land of Rain were converging? How were they supposed to escape?
Haruto Saito turned to Tsunade and made a slicing motion across his neck.
Kill them!
It wasn't that Haruto Saito was particularly bloodthirsty, but these people were enemies. Their relationship was already hostile. Killing them would grant him cards, and consuming those cards was the fastest way for him to grow stronger. There was no psychological burden in killing enemies.
A group of people scheming to find the Black Samurai and report to Rain Ninja Village—every last one of them deserved to die!
Tsunade hesitated for a moment before nodding. Then she whispered, "Leave one alive."
The three of them launched their attack at the same time. Tsunade was the fastest. In the blink of an eye, she burst out of the forest, flinging dozens of kunai with a powerful throw. The piercing sound of the kunai slicing through the air was deafening. With her monstrous strength enhancing the throw, the kunai flew with terrifying speed and power, as if tearing through space itself.
The thirteen samurai reacted almost simultaneously, but their speeds varied.
Eleven were struck in the forehead by the kunai, including one Jonin-level samurai. All of them were instantly killed.
The remaining two samurai managed to evade the kunai attack by leaping aside. However, Jiraiya had already completed his hand seals mid-run. Leaping from behind Tsunade, he unleashed a barrage of fire arrows!
One of the fire arrows targeted a Jonin-level samurai. Realizing he couldn't dodge, the samurai's blade flashed as he unleashed a spiraling sword aura, completely neutralizing Jiraiya's fire attack. However, Tsunade seized the opportunity to charge forward and deliver a devastating punch to his chest.
Boom!
The samurai was sent flying like a cannonball.
By the time Haruto Saito, who hadn't used Black Flash, ran out of the forest, the battle was already over. The fight had ended so quickly that it was staggering! Out of the thirteen samurai, twelve were dead—only the "live one" Tsunade requested remained.
Haruto Saito looked at Tsunade and Jiraiya with an incredulous expression.
Damn it!
Did you two max out your "Kill Steal" talent tree or something?!
They killed everyone except the "live one"!
That was way too fast!
Haruto Saito had suggested the slaughter, but he hadn't even gotten a chance to participate. Standing at the forest's edge, his face was a picture of frustration—though no one could see it, as he was entirely shrouded in black mist.
Tamoto No was in complete shock, his eyes wide, face pale.
He was the "live one." With Tsunade and Jiraiya blocking his way, he had nowhere to run.
"B-Black Samurai..." The moment Tamoto No saw Haruto Saito, he immediately recognized the trio. His voice trembled, his grip on his sword tightening, yet he dared not move an inch. "Tsunade... Jiraiya... it's you..."
"Answer my question. How many people are looking for us now?" Tsunade asked coldly. "If your answer satisfies me, I might consider letting you go."
Tamoto No swallowed hard. As a seasoned fugitive in the war-torn Land of Rain, he had survived countless dangers. But this situation was unlike anything he had ever faced…
Was that even a battle just now?
That was a massacre!
"I... I'll talk…" Tamoto No hesitated only briefly before surrendering completely.
"Speak!" Tsunade snapped.
"Y-Yes! Right now… I heard that the southeastern Fire-Rain border has already been sealed by Rain Ninja Village's First Main Battle Corps… Rain Roar Village, Rain Wave Village, Rain Mountain Village… they've all sent people… All the famous rogue ninjas and samurai of the Land of Rain have gathered…"
As Tamoto No stammered out his explanation, Tsunade and Jiraiya's expressions grew even darker.
It really was a massive net!
"C-Can I leave now?" Tamoto No asked fearfully.
"Can you promise not to report this?" Tsunade countered.
"I swear I won't!" Tamoto No immediately declared.
Tsunade hesitated for a moment before tilting her head. "Go."
Was she really letting him go that easily?
Tamoto No himself found it hard to believe. He slowly stepped back, thrilled yet nervous. If he truly escaped, he would immediately report this to the nearest Rain Ninja outpost. Ten million ryo would be his alone!
Did Tsunade really intend to let him go? Haruto Saito wasn't sure. Jiraiya remained still. Haruto quickly scanned the two of them before turning his gaze back to Tamoto No.
Then, from his inventory, Haruto Saito pulled out a card.
No one could see exactly what he did, as he was cloaked in black mist.
Clutching the card, Haruto hesitated for a moment, then bit down hard!
He had just consumed a boss card!
With only Tamoto No left, he was clearly the boss!
After crunching the card, Haruto stepped forward and growled in a raspy voice, "Stop. I never said you could leave!"
