The cold morning breeze swept through the empty courtyard, and a layer of frost had settled on the grass and tree leaves, signaling the arrival of winter.

When Ayano got up, she wore an extra layer of clothing.

She hadn't slept soundly through the night, leaving her feeling uncomfortable all over.

Just as she picked up the broom leaning against the side, she saw a figure quickly walking toward her.

It was Hizashi.

When Hizashi saw Ayano, his steps paused, and then he said,

"I came to find Makoto."

He had rushed over early in the morning, so it must have been something urgent.

Ayano said, "Lord Makoto hasn't woken up yet. He went to bed quite late last night."

Hizashi responded, "Go wake him up. I have something important to discuss."

Neither of them exchanged any idle words.

After the death of Hiashi, when the clanspeople had distanced themselves from Ayano, Hizashi had been one of the few to visit her.

Hizashi silently watched Ayano's back as she walked into the living room, and then followed her inside.

Ayano reached Makoto's bedroom and gently knocked on the door.

Hizashi stood in the living room, watching Ayano walk into Makoto's bedroom.

Although the bed was large, Makoto was the only one lying on it.

"What did he come for?"

Makoto had already sat up on the bed and rubbed his eyes as he asked.

Ayano took out Makoto's clothes from the wardrobe and began to help him get dressed.

Makoto quietly looked at the booklet he was handed without saying anything.

Hizashi continued, "The Akatsuki group has been developing very quickly. The relationships within the group are not just based on gains, but rather it's as if a group of like-minded people gathered together. These individuals are all willing to follow their leader, Yahiko."

Makoto suddenly asked, "What do you think the attitude of Amegakure is toward Akatsuki?"

Makoto then said, "You should rest for a while. I'll assign you an important position soon."

Hizashi was surprised and asked, "What position?"

"You'll know when the time comes."

Hizashi appeared thoughtful, but seemed to want to say something but hesitated.

Makoto noticed and asked, "What's wrong?"

Hizashi pondered for a moment before speaking, "What about Ayano now...?"

Makoto immediately took over the conversation, saying, "She is now a servant in my household." Then he asked, "What, are you feeling sorry for her?"

Hizashi smiled and replied, "What is there to feel sorry for? It's fine this way; it can also protect her."

Makoto suddenly said, "By the way, Hizashi, what are your plans regarding marriage? If you have someone you like, you can tell me. It doesn't even have to be from within the clan."

Hizashi replied that he wasn't concerned with marriage at the moment and decided to put it aside for now, then excused himself.

After leaving the study, he saw Ayano cleaning the courtyard.
