What is the essence of Ninjutsu?

It's Chakra!

In the world of ninjas, Chakra is the foundation of all Ninjutsu. Ninjutsu is simply the outward expression of this energy.

All Ninjutsu is achieved through Chakra.

And the fundamental way Chakra manifests Ninjutsu is through Nature Transformation and Shape Transformation.

Simply put, Chakra Nature Transformation transforms pure Chakra energy into elements of nature like fire, water, and lightning, energies or substances with certain physical properties that can inflict physical damage on the real world.

Chakra Shape Transformation then further processes this, shaping these energies to create more destructive imitations.

Like how Steel Release Chakra grants the physical properties of steel, then Chakra Shape Transformation gives it the shape of a steel sword, combining them creates Steel Release - Steel Sword Technique.

It can be said that almost any Ninjutsu cannot escape the influence of Chakra Nature Transformation and Shape Transformation.

Even the Rasengan, which doesn't have an elemental attribute, is a Ninjutsu developed using Chakra Shape Transformation.
