Chapter 22: Beautiful Dress
Yamamoto Ryusei was chatting with Uchiha Kagami, Yamashita Shou, Sarutobi Hiruzen, Shimura Danzo, and Hyuga Natsuki in the courtyard when he suddenly felt a chill run down his spine, his senses on high alert.
When he turned around, he noticed all the girls staring at him intently. Ryusei awkwardly smiled and asked, "Uh... what do you all want?"
The girls surged forward, shoving Yamashita Shou and the others aside, and surrounding Ryusei. Yamanaka Seika stepped forward, narrowing her eyes as she interrogated him. "Ryusei, where did you get that dress?"
Confused, Ryusei blinked and asked, "What dress?"
"This one." Yamanaka Seika grabbed his collar and gestured toward Komiya Yuki, who was wearing a gothic Lolita-style black dress. "The black skirt you gave to Yuki—where did you buy it? Are there more?"
Ryusei's gaze shifted to Yuki, a petite girl with cat ears atop her head. The dress accentuated her fair skin, and her high-tied hair added an extra layer of charm. He nodded approvingly and said, "Yuki, you look adorable in that dress. I have great taste, don't I?"
Yuki's cheeks turned crimson at the compliment. Covering her face, she muttered something incoherent before running off to the house, flustered.
The remaining girls stared at Ryusei with a mix of jealousy and anticipation.
"Tell us, where did you buy that outfit?" Seika demanded, shaking Ryusei by the shoulders.
Ryusei, dizzy from her vigorous shaking, pointed weakly at Yamashita Shou. "I... I got it at his house."
The girls turned to Yamashita Shou, their expressions predatory, causing cold sweat to drip down his face.
"No, no!" Shou stammered, waving his hands defensively. "My family doesn't sell clothes like that!"
The girls redirected their glare at Ryusei.
"It's true!" Ryusei said, his voice trembling. "I custom-ordered it from his place. But... there might not be many left."
Hearing this, the girls immediately dragged Yamashita Shou toward his house, intent on claiming their prizes.
Yamanaka Seika, meanwhile, set Ryusei down gently and poured him a cup of tea with a suspiciously kind smile. Her earlier aggressive demeanor was nowhere to be seen.
"Ryusei, I may have overreacted earlier," she said sweetly. "Please accept this tea as my apology."
Ryusei eyed her warily, then glanced at Koharu Utatane, who sat calmly nearby. "Koharu, aren't you going to grab a dress like the others?"
Koharu smirked. "I don't need to rush. I've got a better idea."
Seika leaned closer to Ryusei, her voice saccharine. "Ryusei, you said you designed that dress for Yuki, didn't you? How about making one just for me? Something unique."
Ryusei leaned back uncomfortably. "Yeah, I designed it. So?"
"So," Seika said with a sly smile, "it's clear that you enjoy creating outfits like these. Why not make something special for me? I'll pay you, of course."
"Me too," Koharu chimed in, though her tone was as stiff as ever.
Ryusei raised an eyebrow. "You just called me a pervert earlier. Now you want a custom dress?"
Koharu turned red, but her pride wouldn't allow her to back down. "I didn't mean it like that. Just make it already!"
Sighing, Ryusei relented. "Fine. But don't expect anything too elaborate. And once I finish yours, there'll be counterfeits all over the place."
"I don't care," Seika said confidently. "As long as I'm the first to wear it!"
Before long, the other boys started chiming in, making requests for dresses for their sisters—or, in some cases, themselves.
"I have twin sisters," one boy said. "They'd look amazing in matching outfits!"
"My younger brother would look cute in one," another muttered, earning strange looks from the others.
Within moments, Ryusei found himself inundated with requests, totaling over a dozen designs.
"Wait, wait," Ryusei said, throwing his hands up. "This is too much! I can't design so many at once."
"Then start with mine," Seika said assertively.
"Why should you get yours first?" the other boys protested.
"Enough!" Ryusei shouted, silencing the bickering crowd. "I'll do it one at a time, but I need everyone's height and measurements. Bring me the details, and I'll have the clothes ready before school starts. You can pay Yamashita when you pick them up."
The group dispersed to gather the required information, leaving Ryusei with a headache and a mountain of work.
As night fell, the students gathered for dinner, which was more extravagant than usual. For dessert, a three-layer cake stole the show: the first layer was fruit-flavored, the second milk, and the third chocolate.
Liu Angxing lit candles and handed them to Yuki. "Yuki, make a wish!"
Yuki clasped her hands together, closed her eyes, and whispered a wish before blowing out the candles. The students cheered and enjoyed the cake, even those who had claimed to be too full moments earlier.
Later that evening, Ryusei was in the backyard, working off the heavy meal with some light exercise. Yuki approached him with a teapot in hand.
"Brother Ryusei, have some tea," she said shyly, pouring him a cup.
Ryusei accepted the tea, sipping it gratefully.
"Thank you, Brother Ryusei," Yuki said softly. "Today was one of the happiest days of my life. I really appreciate everything you've done."
