Chapter 10: Shadow Clone
The Next Day,
Senju Miyuki came to pick up Yamamoto Ryuusei early in the morning, sharing breakfast on the way.
As Ryuusei watched Miyuki eat her fried dough sticks, he asked curiously, "Sister Miyuki, are you going to learn ninjutsu from Tobirama-sama today? Is it at the Hokage Building?"
Miyuki took a sip of her soy milk, savoring it alongside the dough sticks. She replied, "No, the lesson will be at the Senju Compound, and I'll be the one teaching, not Tobirama-sama."
Ryuusei looked a bit disappointed. "Ah… I see."
His thoughts betrayed his ambitions: If it were Senju Tobirama teaching, I could earn his favor and become his official disciple. And when Tobirama-sama becomes Hokage, I'd be recognized as the Hokage's student.
Noticing his expression, Senju Miyuki narrowed her eyes sharply. "Why do you look so disappointed? Are you saying my teaching isn't good enough?"
Ryuusei immediately switched to flattery, adopting a cheerful tone. "Not at all! Miyuki-san's teaching is the best. I like you the most, Miyuki-san!"
"Hmph," Miyuki grumbled but didn't argue further. After breakfast, she took Ryuusei and his younger sister, Yamamoto Nami, to the Senju Compound.
At the Senju Compound
When they arrived, Senju Hashirama, Uchiha Madara, and Senju Tobirama were notably absent. Only Uzumaki Mito was present.
Seeing them enter, Mito handed Ryuusei a scroll. "This is the Shadow Clone Technique Tobirama created. It allows you to create physical clones, but be cautious. When the clones disperse, their memories and fatigue will return to you. If you overdo it, the strain could kill you. With your current chakra reserves, you should only create two clones at most. Miyuki will guide you in practicing."
She then took Nami to the kitchen to teach the Senju clan members culinary skills.
Miyuki began by helping Ryuusei study the scroll and corrected his mistakes as he experimented. After a few attempts, he successfully created a Shadow Clone—albeit a rather unusual one.
"So cute!" Miyuki exclaimed as she picked up the tiny clone, which was only the size of a thumb. She played with it, laughing. "Ryuusei, you're really talented to create such a tiny Shadow Clone! Hehe."
Uzumaki Mito returned from the kitchen, raising an eyebrow at the sight. "The problem is Ryuusei's chakra input. He's using too little. Increase the chakra flow, and the clone will appear normal."
With a soft "poof," the tiny clone disappeared in Miyuki's hands. Ryuusei barely felt any fatigue but was left with the odd sensation of being fiddled with.
Determined, Ryuusei formed the hand seals again to create another clone. His inner thoughts stirred: Shadow Clones are amazing! With them, I can multiply my training efforts. In a few years, I'll be strong enough to punch Madara Uchiha and kick Kaguya Otsutsuki! Maybe I'll even open a harem…
"Bang!"
A full-sized Shadow Clone appeared, but its demeanor was completely different from Ryuusei's. The clone smirked arrogantly, exuding a commanding presence. "Hahaha! Finally, I'm free! This ninja world will bow to me—"
Before it could continue, Ryuusei punched the clone square in the face, sending it flying before it dispersed with another "poof."
"Ow…" Ryuusei grimaced, clutching his face. Why did I hit so hard? It feels weird punching myself.
Uzumaki Mito and Miyuki burst into laughter, clutching their sides. Mito wiped a tear from her eye. "The personality of a Shadow Clone reflects the caster's mental state at the time. So, Ryuusei, does world domination rank higher than becoming a chef in your heart?"
Embarrassed, Ryuusei scratched his head. "That… was just an accident! Let me try again!"
This time, he focused his thoughts on his love of cooking.
With another "poof," a Shadow Clone emerged. It examined itself and immediately performed a transformation jutsu, becoming a tall, handsome young man with blue hair, a red headband, and an elegant white and red outfit. The clone saluted Mito respectfully. "Special Chef Liu Angxing greets Uzumaki Mito-sama."
Ryuusei facepalmed. Even my Shadow Clone doesn't like my appearance!
Mito chuckled. "Oh, a special chef, is it? Then you can prepare the wedding banquet for my daughter-in-law."
The clone nodded confidently. "Leave it to me, Mito-sama. I'll prepare a list of ingredients immediately."
Miyuki, watching the clone, was entranced, her cheeks glowing red. She snapped out of it when Mito called her name, quickly fetching paper and pen for the clone.
The clone wrote up a detailed ingredient list and handed it to Mito. "These are the essentials for a banquet table."
Mito's eyes widened as she reviewed the list. "This… is going to cost five hundred thousand ryo!"
Miyuki, after calculating the prices, confirmed with a grimace, "Yes, Mito-sama. The cost is accurate."
"That's outrageous!" Mito exclaimed. "We're still recovering from the war, and spending this much on one banquet isn't feasible."
The Shadow Clone pondered for a moment. "Alright, we can substitute Buddha Jumps Over the Wall with Boiled Cabbage. While simpler, it's equally renowned and much more affordable."
Mito looked intrigued. "Boiled Cabbage? Isn't that too plain?"
The clone explained, "Not at all. It's a delicate dish where a rich broth made from chicken, duck, pork trotters, and ham is painstakingly clarified into a crystal-clear soup. The flavor rivals even Buddha Jumps Over the Wall."
Mito's curiosity piqued, and she dragged the Shadow Clone into the kitchen. There, young women of the Senju Clan were learning cooking techniques from Nami.
The Shadow Clone quickly took charge, demonstrating his culinary skills with flair, leaving everyone—including Miyuki—awestruck.
