My Wife is the World’s Greatest Divine Martial General

44: Arriving in Town

Gu Yu didn’t encounter any danger during this trip to the mountains, though this was partly because he didn’t venture deep into the wilderness.

After catching several plump wild chickens and rabbits, and finding a few wild chicken nests from which he collected more than ten eggs, Gu Yu came down from the mountain with a decent harvest. He then headed toward the village entrance, planning to take an ox cart to town.

Although along the way Gu Yu discovered that his body had indeed improved considerably, this was only in comparison to before. Gu Yu was still far from meeting the standard level of a normal person, so to avoid fainting halfway, he had to obediently take transportation.

However, his morning action of driving away Li and the others had made Gu Yu “notorious” in the village.

When villagers passing by saw Gu Yu, the gossip flickering in their eyes was almost impossible to suppress.

But precisely because Gu Yu was no longer the dull child in everyone’s memory, even though they were curious about what had happened to him, they didn’t dare approach him uninvited and risk embarrassment.

If Gu Yu could even drive away his own grandmother, what more could be said about people with no relation to him?

So, Gu Yu’s ox cart ride this time was very comfortable.

Although his buttocks were still nearly shattered by the bumping of the cart, without the scrutinizing gazes of others from the previous time, Gu Yu arrived in town peacefully.

After reaching town, Gu Yu didn’t immediately go to the market to find craftsmen. Instead, he continued yesterday’s shopping tour, buying delicious food and interesting items and storing them in his spatial storage. Then he found a place where no one was paying attention and took out his back basket from the spatial storage.

This way, if he bought large items later, they wouldn’t disappear into thin air in front of people, which could cause panic.

After all, ancient people were very superstitious. If they thought Gu Yu was a mountain spirit in human form and clamored to burn him to death, it would be disastrous.

After finishing his shopping, Gu Yu walked toward Spring Arrival Restaurant, thinking of selling some of the prey from his spatial storage.

Keeping all these wild animals piled up in his spatial storage was too wasteful.

Better to exchange them for silver, which would make Gu Yu happy as well.

“Young Brother Bai, you’ve come again!”

“What, Chef, am I not welcome?”

“How could you not be welcome! The roe deer and wild boar you sold to the restaurant yesterday made for an excellent feast. Even the County Magistrate who attended the banquet kept praising it! It really gave us great face. Even today, there are many more customers coming to dine, and the manager of Blessed Abundance Restaurant across the street is almost furious to death.”

Arriving at the small courtyard by the side door of Spring Arrival Restaurant, before Gu Yu could say much, an attendant ran into the kitchen to call out the Fat Chef.

When the Fat Chef saw Gu Yu, his small eyes nearly disappeared in his smile.

His subsequent words carried a sense of schadenfreude, clearly showing that the competing restaurant’s frustration made the Fat Chef feel very satisfied.

Consequently, he found Gu Yu increasingly pleasing to the eye.

The Fat Chef even wanted to worship Gu Yu like an ancestor… Before meeting Gu Yu, they had been worrying about how to defeat the newly opened restaurant across the street. Who would have thought that with Gu Yu’s arrival, bringing various wild prey, the situation would be directly reversed.

Even though Blessed Abundance Restaurant across the street was newly opened with grand discounts, Spring Arrival Restaurant had both roe deer and wild boar. Bringing people to dine here was a matter of great face.

Spending money was nothing as long as silver was useful—no problem was really a problem.

“The wild boar meat delivered yesterday can be eaten for several days. Today I’ve brought some wild chickens and rabbits. I hope Chef doesn’t mind!”

“How could I mind! These are rare to see normally. As long as your family can provide them, I’ll take them.”

“Good, if there’s more prey in the future, I’ll deliver it directly.”

As they spoke, Gu Yu placed his back basket on the ground and opened it, letting the attendant beside him take out two wild chickens and six rabbits. After weighing them, Gu Yu received more than six taels of silver.

Making money was truly easy!
