Chapter 70: Don’t Waste Time Talking, Just Kill Them
Because Feng Fan was concerned about a potential attack from Shi Fan, he activated his spiritual qi vision as they set off toward the White Crow Sect grounds.
At first, everything seemed normal, but just a few minutes into their journey, Feng Fan noticed an unusual, scattered mass of spiritual qi ahead.
"Elder Peng, something's wrong up ahead! Tell the bluebird to take a detour," he warned urgently.
"Hm? What do you mean?" Elder Peng asked, confused.
Before Feng Fan could explain further, the delay had already cost them.
The bluebird passed through the strange spiritual qi mass, and its eyelids began to droop. Its movements slowed until, moments later, it started descending toward the ground.
"Sleeping Beast Powder!" Elder Peng shouted, his expression turning grim as he realized they had fallen into a trap.
A malicious laugh echoed nearby.
"Hahaha! Little bastard, you weren't expecting this, were you? Today, you'll die!"
Feng Fan turned toward the source of the voice and saw Shi Fan floating in the air, a wide grin plastered on his face.
Feng Fan gave him a strange look and said casually, "If I told you I was expecting this, would you believe me and just go away?"
Before Shi Fan could respond, Elder Peng stepped forward, his voice stern. "Shi Fan, what do you think you're doing? Do you understand the consequences of killing us here?"
Feng Fan and Shi Fan both glanced at Elder Peng as if he were an idiot. 'What's the point of asking that?'
Shi Fan, like a textbook third-rate villain, threw his head back and laughed even harder.
"Consequences? Hah! Those only exist if someone discovers I killed you. But out here, in the middle of nowhere, who's going to witness your deaths?"
Elder Peng's expression darkened with regret. 'Feng Fan warned me. A kid barely twenty years old saw through this scheme, but I didn't… How could I have been so foolish?'
"Kids, run!" Elder Peng said, his voice firm and resolute as he activated his cultivation technique. "I'll hold him off for as long as I can!"
"You think you can stop me with your puny cultivation?" Shi Fan sneered, his voice dripping with disdain as he circulated his technique.
With a casual wave of his hand, an overwhelming surge of spiritual qi, far greater than anything Feng Fan had ever seen, crashed into Elder Peng before he could react.
Elder Peng was sent flying into a nearby tree, blood spilling from his mouth.
'Good people really do suffer… Too bad for this Shi Fan, I'm not a good person,' Feng Fan thought.
Xue Qiang and Huang Xue immediately moved in front of him, their faces pale but determined.
"Fanfan, run!"
"Feng Fan, go!"
Seeing them step up to protect him, Feng Fan's heart warmed.
"You girls…" He started, but before he could say more, a mocking laugh interrupted him.
"Hahaha! How touching!" Shi Fan jeered, his grin sinister. "Fine, the three of you can go to hell together!"
Shi Fan moved his hand, summoning a huge mass of spiritual qi to obliterate their puny existence.
In the face of this overwhelming power, Huang Xue and Xue Qiang felt like helpless pigs in a slaughterhouse, powerless to stop their impending death.
Meanwhile, Feng Fan calmly circulated his technique, effortlessly suppressing the pressure around him.
"Under and above the heavens, there is nothing I cannot suppress!"
Feng Fan wasn't idle. His trusty brick was already in his grasp even before Shi Fan attacked.
Feng Fan's consciousness plunged into the Suppression Relic.
He touched upon the heavenly lightning stored within and unleashed it all at once, pouring every ounce of its power outward.
He didn't dare to hold back anything, in fear it wouldn't be enough to kill Shi Fan.
Shi Fan pushed the massive surge of spiritual qi toward Feng Fan, but the moment the heavenly lightning appeared, his body froze. It was as if an invisible force had bound him in place, leaving him powerless to move.
The heavenly lightning obliterated Shi Fan's attack effortlessly and continued on its way toward him with unstoppable force.
He couldn't move. He couldn't block.
It was as though he were nothing more than an ant, about to be crushed under a child's foot.
"N-No! Impossible!" Your next read is at empire
Those were his final words before the lightning struck. His body was obliterated instantly, evaporating into nothing. Not even ashes remained.
"Shi Fan, when you get to hell, remember this—next time you try to kill someone, don't waste time talking. Just kill them!" He muttered.
Feng Fan stared at the spot where Shi Fan had been moments ago and sighed in disappointment. "Damn it, the lightning even destroyed his space ring… His wealth was probably worth more than everything I got on this trip combined."
Both Huang Xue and Xue Qiang stood frozen, stupefied expressions plastered across their faces.
They clearly had no idea what had just happened, making their earlier attempt to protect Feng Fan look almost comical.
Meanwhile, Feng Fan casually placed his trusty brick back into his space ring and walked over to Elder Peng, who was still unconscious. Kneeling down, he lightly tapped the elder's cheek.
"Hey there, sleeping beauty. Time to wake up."
"Ugh…" Elder Peng groaned as his eyes fluttered open. The first thing he saw was Feng Fan's grinning face.
"Y-You're alive?"
"Why wouldn't I be? Do you want me dead?" Feng Fan asked with mock anger.
Elder Peng blinked in confusion and quickly looked around, trying to make sense of the situation.
"What happened? Where's Shi Fan?"
Before Feng Fan could come up with an excuse, Elder Peng waved his hand dismissively.
"Don't bother. I know whatever you say will be a lie anyway," he muttered, shaking his head. Then, with a sigh, he added, "I'm sorry for doubting you earlier. Thanks for saving our lives."
Feng Fan looked at him weirdly. 'Why is this guy smart when he doesn't need to be? Serious…'
"Wait for a moment, kids," he said.
Elder Peng sat cross-legged on the ground, retrieved a pill from his space ring, and began cultivating to heal the internal injuries caused by Shi Fan's attack.
Once he had recovered enough, he pulled out a cauldron and some herbs. Filling the cauldron with water, he added the herbs and ignited a flame with his palm, carefully heating the mixture.
The herbs gradually dissolved as Elder Peng guided their healing properties to merge, his hands moving skillfully.
He didn't even need to glance at the cauldron, his experience spoke for itself.
Feng Fan watched for a moment before guessing that Elder Peng was making an antidote for the beast-sleeping powder that had affected the bluebird.
'This alchemy process is so boring. Why do so many protagonists enjoy this?' Feng Fan thought with a sigh.
Choosing to ignore Elder Peng, he sat down cross-legged and used the time to cultivate.
Roughly one or two hours later, Elder Peng finally finished the antidote. He carefully approached the bluebird and fed it the concoction.
Moments later, the creature jolted awake, its wings stirring the air with majestic force.
"Let's go, kids," Elder Peng said.
They climbed back onto the bluebird, and once again, they soared into the sky, leaving the forest behind.
