My Weird Internship

Chapter 38: Amidst the Chaos

Erika stood in the corner of the room, watching the chaos unfold around the massive screen. She had tried to give clear directions, but no one seemed to listen. As she let out a long sigh, Ryu, who was standing nearby, voiced his thoughts.

"Is this your class, Erika? Let them be," he said, his tone calm and measured.

Erika bit her lip, trying to suppress the frustration boiling within her. Before she could respond, Irvan let out a hearty laugh, rubbing his hands together with eager enthusiasm. "Ahahaha, I'm not going to miss out on this fun!" he shouted, then dove into the throng of students who were busy crafting their country. Ryu followed, leaving Erika alone with her simmering anger, watching her friends' antics with growing irritation.

Alvin, Chen, and Fadil seemed to revel in the process. They laughed and debated as they filled in the information on the screen. "Okay, our national emblem. Zoe, I want to create the emblem," Alvin commanded, turning to face the screen.

"Okay, Alvin, can you describe what it should look like?" replied Zoe, the artificial intelligence assigned to assist them.

"Uhmm, a windmill, but one side is taller than the other," Alvin said after a moment of thought.

Chen jumped in with enthusiasm, "And add a hyena wearing a crown!"

Fadil, not wanting to be outdone, added, "Make it a muscular hyena."

"Understood…" Zoe replied, and a progress bar appeared on the screen, displaying the word 'Processing.' A few seconds later, several emblems appeared, each reflecting their instructions. But instead of awe, the boys gazed at the results with disappointment.

"Wow, that looks like crap... guys, let's go look for something else we can make," Alvin said, his tone lazy as he walked away from the screen, followed by Chen and Fadil.

Erika, watching from a distance, approached the screen the boys had just abandoned. She stood before it, taking a deep breath before speaking to herself. "Hufftt, let's see what my foolish friends have done."

She called out to Zoe. "Zoe, I need help fixing our national emblem."

"Certainly, Erika. What would you like to change?" Zoe responded in her neutral tone.

Erika thought for a moment. "Create an emblem that's more meaningful. Something that reflects our spirit and unity. How about a large tree with deep roots, a symbol of our courage and resilience?"

"Processing..." Zoe began her task again, and a few seconds later, a new emblem appeared on the screen. A towering tree with sprawling roots, beneath which a proud wolf stood with a sharp, piercing gaze.

Erika smiled slightly. "This is much better," she murmured.

Meanwhile, Irvan, Alvin, Chen, and Fadil had gathered in another corner, discussing other features they could add to their country. They laughed and joked, oblivious to what they had just created.

Mr. Pope watched from afar, observing how the students interacted and worked together, albeit in a chaotic and disorganized manner. He knew this class was unique, and he trusted they would find their own way in building this nation.

"We need to decide what our people will be like," Alvin said with enthusiasm. "How about we create some distinctive traits for our population?"

Chen nodded in agreement. "You're a genius, Vin. Let's start with everyone having green hair."

Fadil added, "Yeah, and their blood is orange. That would be so cool, right?"

Their conversation grew more intense, but Erika knew they still needed better guidance. She approached them, hoping to offer her input without causing another stir.

"Listen," Erika began, her voice firm but calm, "we all have good ideas, but we need to bring them together. If we keep working separately, our country won't have a clear direction."

But no one paid attention to her. Erika clenched her fists, feeling her frustration grow. She walked over to Irvan, who was busy coming up with names for the cities.

"Zoe, give me more suggestions for city names," Irvan ordered. Zoe displayed several new names on the screen, and Irvan smiled at the options. But unexpectedly, he felt a sharp kick to the back of his leg. It was Erika.

"Damn it! What's your problem?" Irvan snapped, startled and angry.

"Help me out. Don't you see what they're doing?"

"I know! Why don't you ask the sheriff for help? I don't have the authority," Irvan retorted, turning back to the screen.

Erika left Irvan with a scowl on her face. She then approached Mike, hoping he could help her. "Mike, tell them we need to discuss this together," Erika urged. "We need to make well-thought-out decisions, not just follow our silly instincts."

Mike frowned, thinking for a moment. "Uhm, how about we divide the tasks? You take care of the more complex stuff that requires knowledge, while the others handle the simpler things. You need to understand, Erika, this is a lot of fun. You can't ruin everyone's good time."

"Whatever. I just want us to discuss it first, or we won't know what our country will end up like."

Mike nodded, understanding Erika's concern. He stood up and called out to his friends. "Alright, GUYS!!! LISTEN UP FOR A MOMENT!!!"

All eyes turned to Mike.

"To make this more organized, I'm going to assign tasks for building our country. Let's start with the most important things, like the country's name, form of government, population, culture, economy, language, education, laws, arts, and so on."

The students exchanged glances, a bit confused but also intrigued by this more structured approach. They began to gather together again, ready to listen and cooperate.
