Chapter 14: Meeting Bianka
“Uaaah~”
Chen Wenjin let out a big yawn and sat up lazily from the bed. He turned his head and looked at the alarm clock on the bedside table.
Ten o’clock.
The sunlight had already streamed in through the window, and the time for the sunlight to shine on the bed had passed since it was no longer early.
Chen Wenjin stared at the sunlight outside the window for a while.
“I’m late, I’m late, I’m late!”
He jumped out of bed in a hurry and quickly put on the prepared clothes… Wait, who prepared these clothes for him?
After putting on the clothes, Chen Wenjin stood in front of the mirror, pondering for a moment.
Oh, it seemed that Rita had prepared the clothes for him.
Why did Rita prepare clothes for him? They weren’t very familiar, were they?
No, Rita had gone on a mission yesterday afternoon, right? So why…
Chen Wenjin suddenly felt a headache coming on. He reached out to rub his head and found a slightly swollen area.
Ah, why was there a lump on the back of his head?
Did he hit something last night…?
Thinking about last night’s events, Chen Wenjin’s head suddenly throbbed, as if he had been hit again.
Huh? Why did I say ‘again’?
Huh? Did I forget something?
Chen Wenjin scratched his head, feeling like he couldn’t figure it out. He slowly put on his hat and adjusted his collar.
Hmm, a white military uniform. It looked pretty good on him. After all, Chen Wenjin already looked quite similar to the readers, and when he put on the men’s military uniform of the Schicksal, he looked even more handsome.
Satisfied with his appearance, he decided it was time to go to work. Today was his first official day on the job, and he needed to perform well to get to St. Freya and find his three wives as soon as possible.
Chen Wenjin was quite content with his prospects. Although Rita’s behavior yesterday afternoon had left him puzzled, it didn’t matter. Rita was a mysterious woman, and the more mysterious a woman was, the more difficult she was to get along with. Since Rita was so mysterious, he could just avoid dealing with her for now.
Although he was late, Chen Wenjin quickly arrived at his designated position. This place used to be occupied by someone named Alvitr, but starting today, this position belonged to him.
So, when would Alvitr come over to guide him on using all these gadgets?
Chen Wenjin looked at the numerous buttons in front of him and propped up his chin, feeling bored.
Isn’t it work time now? Why isn’t there a single Valkyrie in this warehouse?
“Alvitr?”
Outside the warehouse, a woman’s voice could be heard.
Then came the sound of footsteps gradually approaching.
Chen Wenjin propped up his chin and didn’t lift his head to see who was coming.
Although he found the voice somewhat familiar, it had nothing to do with him.
The girl outside was here to find Alvitr, and what did that have to do with him, Chen Wenjin?
Ah, is this what being part of Schicskal is like? It seems even more relaxed than being a civil servant. Didn’t Rita go on a mission today? Shouldn’t she and the other Valkyries be doing remote support? If they needed remote support, he could fill in as well. Maybe he could complete the tasks given by the system?
Chen Wenjin sighed and started running his fingers through the gaps between the buttons. He didn’t dare to randomly press any of them.
But at this moment, he noticed that the footsteps from earlier had suddenly disappeared.
He clearly remembered that the footsteps were approaching this way, but now he couldn’t hear them anymore. Had the person left?
Chen Wenjin twisted his body slightly and slowly raised his head to look towards the door.
The light outside the warehouse was a bit dazzling, and for a moment, Chen Wenjin couldn’t see the woman standing not far away with her back to the light source. He could only faintly see her golden hair fluttering.
The woman stood there without moving, as if she were staring at him.
“Who’s there?”
Chen Wenjin furrowed his brow and squinted slightly. The blurry figure gradually came into focus.
It was a blonde girl.
A blonde girl?
Aren’t there not many blonde girls in Schicksal?
“Chen Wenjin?”
The girl suddenly spoke.
Huh? Does she know me?
Hearing someone call his name, he quickly stood up from the chair. He and the girl were roughly at the same height, so now he could see her more clearly.
Ah, it’s her.
“Bianka?”
Yes, the person standing at the door was Durandal.
He had just talked to Rita a day or two ago, so why was he meeting Durandal today? Was his luck a bit too good?
System, do you have a task related to Durandal?
The system was rather aloof and didn’t reply. In that case, he should just complete the tasks related to Rita first.
Meeting two S-rank Valkyries in just two days… Would he meet a third S-rank Valkyrie tomorrow?
“Chen Wenjin, what are you doing here?”
Chen Wenjin had just called Durandal’s name when he saw her take a few steps towards him. She seemed a bit hesitant.
He scratched his head.
How did Durandal know his name?
Could it be…
Is this Durandal the same Durandal from his ship?
Oh no, that’s not right. It’s very possible that Durandal knew his name because she had heard about him joining the Immortal Blade from other girls.
“Do you know me?” Chen Wenjin asked, even though he was excited inside, he still needed to maintain a facade.
Durandal’s footsteps came to a halt again, and she stared at Chen Wenjin for a while. It seemed like she had figured something out.
She let out a sigh.
It seemed that she was the only one who retained her memories of the future. The captain in front of her was the one who had recently joined Schicksal.
But wait, didn’t the captain join Schicksal in 2016? Why is he already in the Immortal Blades squad now?
Durandal squinted her eyes.
The captain had joined the Immortal Blades, and the only ones who could bring someone into the Immortal Blades other than herself were Rita….
