Chapter 13: Chapter 13;weird plans
LUCIEN'S POV
Lucien Phoenix, the richest and most handsome bachelor in the country, stood confidently at the head of the high-end meeting room. At just twenty-eight years old, he had already built a business empire that rivaled those of the wealthiest tycoons. His chiseled features, piercing blue eyes, and chiseled jawline made him a magnet for attention.
As he addressed the room full of top world ministers, rich men, and businessmen, his private number rang, shrill in the silence. He turned to his secretary, Ryan Wood, and raised an eyebrow.
Ryan discreetly excused himself and stepped out of the room to take the call. Only a handful of people had access to that number, including his family members and a select few.
Ryan returned, his expression neutral, and whispered something in Lucien's ear. Lucien's gaze narrowed, his mind shifting gears.
"I'm afraid we'll have to adjourn this meeting until next hour, gentlemen," Lucien announced, his voice firm but polite. "I have an unexpected matter that requires my attention."
The room erupted into a flurry of activity as the attendees gathered their belongings and filed out. Lucien strode out of the meeting room, his long legs eating up the distance, and into his high-end office. The dark colors – grey, black, and white – seemed to absorb the light around him, reflecting his cold and calculating demeanor.
Ryan followed him in, closing the door behind him. "It was your wife, sir," he said, his voice low. "She called on your private number."
Lucien's eyes flashed with surprise, and he felt a pang of guilt. He had forgotten all about his wife, Tehila, the woman his mother had convinced him to marry six months ago. He had agreed to the arrangement, intending to divorce her as soon as possible, but he had been too busy to follow through.
Now, as he stood in his office, he couldn't believe he had forgotten about her. He thought back to his mother's words: "She's a good girl, Lucien. From a humble background, but she has a heart of gold."
Lucien's expression turned calculating. He would test Tehila, see if she was patient enough to wait for him. He would string her along, keep her in suspense, and observe her reactions.
With a cold smile, Lucien picked up the phone and dialed Tehila's number. He waited for her to answer, his mind racing with possibilities.
As the phone rang, Lucien's thoughts turned to the next step in his plan. He would keep Tehila waiting for a year, adding the six months they had already been married to the next six months. He wanted to see if she would crack under the pressure, or if she would prove to be a worthy opponent.
The phone call connected, and Lucien's voice turned smooth as silk.
"Hello?" he said.
Tehila's voice was hesitant on the other end of the line. "Hi... Lucien?"
Lucien's eyes narrowed. "Yeah. I know who you are. You're Tehila, my wife."
There was a pause on the other end of the line before Tehila spoke up again. "I... I know this might sound weird, but I was wondering where you are. I've never seen you before."
Lucien's expression remained neutral. "I'm not in the country, Tehila. I had to travel for work."
"Oh," Tehila said, her voice barely above a whisper. "Okay. When are you coming back?"
Lucien's gaze turned cold. "Soon. And when I do, we'll discuss whether this... arrangement can work for us or if we should just go our separate ways."
Tehila's voice was laced with a hint of hope. "I'd like that."
Lucien's smile was cold and calculating. "Good. I'll be in touch soon, Tehila."
And with that, the call ended, leaving Lucien to ponder his next move.
As he hung up the phone, Lucien couldn't help but grin. Ryan, who had been watching the exchange with interest, looked confused.
"Sir?" Ryan asked, raising an eyebrow. "Is everything okay?"
Lucien's grin only grew wider. "Everything is perfect, Ryan. Just perfect."
Ryan's expression turned skeptical, but he said nothing, merely nodding and backing away. Lucien's grin only grew wider as he turned back to the window, his mind already turning with plans for Tehila.
