My System is Too Overpowered

Chapter 5: Wi Soyeon (2)

"Get lost! I'd rather die than submit!" Wi Soyeon roared, her voice filled with defiance. She gathered all her remaining spiritual energy and unleashed a divine technique from her cult. Mystic Blue flames erupted above her head, swirling like a magnificent lotus flower, crackling with terrifying power.

The air around her grew hotter, and the leaves on the ground began to catch fire, igniting in an instant.

"Hmm?" The old man's expression shifted, his eyes narrowing. The heat from the flames made him feel threatened, and he stepped back slightly. He had never seen an Early-stage Foundation cultivator release such a massive aura before. Even he, a Late-stage Foundation cultivator, felt a flicker of unease.

What kind of divine technique was this?!

"You dog, you've really pissed me off! Die!!" Wi Soyeon's long hair whipped around beautiful her face as she glared at him with cold, piercing eyes. Her entire demeanor shifted as if a once-powerful demoness had been reborn, her voice leaving no room for mercy.

Swoosh!

The blooming crimson flame lotus surged forward, carrying an overwhelming pressure that crushed everything in its path. The air around it shimmered with intense heat as it moved toward the old man.

"You!" The old man's face turned pale as he felt the immense power coming toward him. In desperation, he raised his hands and summoned a defensive divine technique. From the ground, white bones shot up, forming a shield to block the attack.

But to his horror, the bones were quickly consumed by the flames, disintegrating into ash.

In the next moment, the crimson flame lotus was upon him.

"Ahhh…"

A chilling wail escaped his lips as the flames engulfed him, burning with the intensity of a wild inferno. His body writhed in agony, but it was no use. The flames were unstoppable.

Within moments, all that remained of the old man was a pile of charred remnants, his form consumed by the flames. As a soft breeze blew through the forest, even those traces were scattered into nothingness.

"Serves you right, you perverted freak." Wi Soyeon muttered, her eyes still burning with fury.

Wi Soyeon scoffed, her legs giving way as she stumbled to the ground.

A sharp pain shot through her dantian, as if it was on the verge of shattering. A wave of weakness surged over her, draining what little strength she had left.

The technique she had just unleashed was one of her secret arts—incredibly powerful, but the price was far too steep for someone at the Foundation Realm. If that attack hadn't been enough to kill him, she would have had no way to fight back.

Even with her knowledge of countless divine techniques, her low cultivation made them nothing more than useless memories.

How pathetic.

In the past, just a single glance from her could have erased pests like that old man from existence.

Now, she was no better than a prey

Her lips curled into a bitter smile. "How unlucky can one person be?"

But she couldn't afford to wallow in regret. She needed to move.

Summoning the last of her willpower, Wi Soyeon pushed herself up, her legs trembling beneath her.

"I need to get out of here... find a place to recover..."

Ignoring the pain, she forced herself forward, stumbling into the depths of the Azure Bamboo Forest.

A few hours later, a group of men in dark clothing appeared. Each of them wore black masks that hid their faces in shadow. The man at the front, clearly their leader, crouched down and gently traced his fingers over the dried blood on the ground.

From inside his pocket, he pulled out a small glass marble. Carefully, he let a few drops of blood fall onto it. Almost immediately, the marble began to levitate, radiating a soft, crimson glow.

Without warning, the glowing marble darted off in the direction where Wi Soyeon had fled. The men in black exchanged glances before silently following the mysterious, floating marble.

After the battle, Wi Soyeon managed to flee and found shelter inside a secluded cave. Using her cultivation technique, she managed to restore her spiritual energy and heal her injuries. Despite her weakened state, she continued to cultivate, knowing that every second was precious if she hoped to regain her strength.

She was deep in concentration, when she suddenly opened her eyes. At the cave entrance stood a group of people dressed entirely in black. A bitter smile crossed her face as she recognized them immediately—the Shadow Ghost Squad from the Demonic Cult, notorious for their role in assassinations.

Even the weakest member of this squad has reached the Spirit Realm, a realm above the Foundation Realm, while many others had reached the Refinement or Fusion realms, with their leader being a Late-Stage Fusion Realm cultivator. In that instant, Wi Soyeon knew her fate was sealed. There was no chance she could escape this confrontation alive.

Resolute, she rose from her position, straightened her back, and stepped out of the cave into the open expanse of the Azure Bamboo Forest.

"Shadow Ghost Squad Leader, it has been a while," Wi Soyeon said, her voice steady despite the looming danger.

"Indeed, it has been a while, Young Miss," the masked leader replied, his tone laced with amusement.

Boom!

In an instant, an overwhelming pressure descended upon her. The terrifying aura of a Late-Stage Fusion Realm cultivator crashed down like a mountain, forcing Wi Soyeon to her knees. Her bones groaned under the strain, her body trembling as she struggled to resist.

The Shadow Ghost Squad Leader reached up, pulling down his mask to reveal a twisted grin. His dark eyes gleamed with malice.

"Young Miss," he sneered, "I hope you won't mind if I take a look at your memories."

"You—!"

Wi Soyeon's eyes widened in alarm. She knew exactly what was about to happen—and she knew she had no way to stop it.

Wi Soyeon had once stood at the pinnacle, a mighty demoness who carved her way through countless battles to reach the Transcendent Realm. She knew all too well the treachery of cultivators, the ruthless schemes that lurked beneath their ambitions.

And now, she understood exactly what the Shadow Ghost Squad Leader wanted—her Divine Techniques!

"I won't accept this! I refuse!"

A surge of defiance burned within her, but her body refused to move. No matter how much she struggled, she remained trapped under the crushing weight of the Shadow Ghost Squad Leader's aura.

Her heart pounded. Was this it?

Was this where her journey to reclaim her power would end—stripped of her knowledge, left to die like a worthless pawn?

She clenched her fists, her nails digging into her palms.

BOOM!

A terrifying pressure descended, shaking the very air. It was as if the heavens themselves were collapsing.

"Who?!"

The Shadow Ghost Squad Leader's expression twisted in shock as he instinctively turned toward the source of the oppressive force.

The space ahead rippled like a disturbed lake, and from within those distortions, a figure emerged.

A young man clad in flowing black robes stepped forward, his hands clasped behind his back. His long, dark hair danced in the wind, and his face, illuminated by a strange ethereal glow, carried an air of absolute dominance.

His eyes—crimson, sharp, and piercing—seemed to cut through everything, as if he could see straight into one's soul.

Ma Jeong's gaze swept over the squad leader before landing on Wi Soyeon, who remained half-kneeling on the ground, her face pale but filled with stubborn defiance.

His frown deepened.

"Hmm?"

Ma Jeong's expression twisted into something… peculiar.

His gaze swept over the battered woman before him, then flicked toward the system interface in his mind.

"Are you serious? This is supposed to be my subordinate? A Foundation Realm weakling? System, are you messing with me?"

[Ding! The system is not deceiving you. She was once the successor of the Demonic Cult at the Transcendent level, but her cultivation has fallen.]

Ma Jeong's eyes widened slightly. He hadn't expected this woman—who was barely stronger than a chicken in her current state—to have once stood at the pinnacle of power.

His lips curled into a thoughtful smirk.

"Interesting… if she was once a Transcendent, that means she has the talent to reclaim her former glory. And if I take her under my wing, her rise will only add to my prestige."

The more he thought about it, the more pleased he became.

Commanding a former demon cult successor, someone who once stood above countless experts—now that was a thrill worth experiencing!

"Who are you?!"

The Shadow Ghost Squad Leader barked, his voice sharp with suspicion.

But the moment he sensed Ma Jeong's cultivation—Mid-Stage Fusion Realm—his vigilance faded, replaced by disdain.

A single Mid-Stage Fusion Realm cultivator? Alone?

The Squad Leader nearly laughed.

His own squad boasted multiple Fusion Realm experts, and he himself stood at the Late-Stage Fusion Realm. Against such numbers, what could this lone intruder possibly do?

Not to mention, this man was from the Blue Wind Domain, one of the weakest domains in the entire Eastern Continent.

A nobody with meagre divine techniques—hardly worth his concern.
