My SSS-Rank Class Is Blood Monarch!
Chapter 345- Exo-Burst (Part 2)
"I see that you made your choice," Yonathan said as he looked at Arthur. "I believe you took the right step there, child. This particular technique is something even the strongest of all humans would wish to have, and what you have seen of it is nothing but a fraction of its true potential."
"Wait, really? It could get even better than that?" Arthur blurted out. 'I could not see them even more. How can it get any better?!'
If Arthur was told that this technique's full potential was exactly what he had seen, he would've still been eager to have it. Yet, it was not even a fraction of it. Arthur felt a rush of excitement fill his mind.
"But that also doesn't mean that achieving that potential is easy. In fact, out of all the people who learned Exo-Burst across history… No one was able to unlock its full potential. Some got very close to it, but one way or another, they could never breakthrough to the next level."
"I see… So a few days will only be enough to teach me the basics, no?"
"The very first steps and nothing more. It usually takes a year to learn the first major step and five years to learn the second one. Some exceptional talents could learn the two steps in half the time given, and the best talents to ever be born would learn the two steps in a year." Yonathan explained.
"And how many steps are there to Exo-Burst?" Arthur asked.
"There are exactly 10 steps. Each one is way harder than the one before but adds a new layer to the technique, making it far more deadly and versatile each time." He said. "The farthest one reached step 8 and it took… 350 years."
"350 years?!!" Arthur's eyes widened. "That long?!"
'Ignore the fact someone even lived that long… What the hell do you mean 350 years?! Am I required to spend several lifetimes just learning this technique?!'
A few seconds ago, Arthur had no idea how truly hard this technique was. He knew that it was very complicated and, considering its power, it was also very rare. But that one sentence put the perspective on a whole different level.
"As I said, this technique is something truly great. Its potential is completely unknown and…" Yonathan stared at Arthur for a moment before he pursed his lips.
"And?"
"No, it's nothing. In any case, since we're in a hurry, we can start now if you want." The old man said.
"I would very much want that! I don't have any time to waste, so I want to learn it as quickly as possible." Arthur said as he turned around. "So, where should we go?"
"Outside." Yonathan said.
"Ok!"
Then, the boy started walking toward the exit while the old man stared at his back. His eyes flashed with a myriad of emotions.
'And perhaps you will be the first one to reach that potential, Arthur.' He thought to himself. A deep feeling within his heart told him that this particular boy could truly be the difference. He didn't know why he had that feeling, but Yonathan didn't want to let that opportunity go to waste.
If he can give this kid a push, then he was going to do that.
***
The two walked outside, followed by the rest of the group, who were very curious about the boy. This was the very first time they had met someone from the outside world, and they felt like they were standing next to an alien.
Arthur couldn't understand what they were saying about him, but he could guess that it was simply curiosity.
"Ok, so what am I supposed to do?" He asked.
"Well, it is quite simple, actually." Yonathan said as he turned to look at one of his men. The subordinate immediately understood what the old man wanted and quickly left to fetch it.
A few moments later, the man came back, and in his hands, he was carrying hand-sized stone discs that he handed to Yonathan. There were exactly five of them, and Arthur could see some weird engravings that he couldn't quite understand.
"Come closer, Arthur." The old man said.
"..." The boy nodded before he stepped forward and stopped in front of Yonathan. With his ridiculous height, the boy had to look up to him.
"Open your arms wide." The man said, and Arthur followed. Then, the old man leaned forward and pulled one of the discs before he put it against Arthur's right wrist. The disc stuck to him immediately as if it had glue on it.
"Hm? What's that thing, Yonathan?"
"It's the tool that will teach you this technique. Now, keep your arms stretched and straight." He said, before putting the second disc on his left wrist. Then, the third disc was put against his solar plexus, right between his ribs.
'I don't know why I'm starting to have a bad feeling about this. But… Well, I will figure something out.'
"Now, put these two on your left and right ankle and make sure they're latched on very well." The old man said as he handed Artur the last two discs.
The boy took a look at them and at the weird engravings before he nodded and slowly latched them onto his ankles.
"Done. Now, what?"
"Now, simply touch each one of them with your finger and try to infuse a very little amount of mana into the discs. Be ready, for the next step will be the hardest." The man said.
"Hmm?" Arthur raised an eyebrow before he slowly moved his hand, and with his fingertip, he touched the stone disc. Using some mana, he let it pass through to the device. Then, he did the same for the rest of them.
At first, nothing happened, and Arthur was confused. The discs didn't seem like they were activating or doing anything. So, he looked at Yonathan to ask him.
However, before he could even utter a single word… something unexpected happened.
